EWS Tweed Valley Race Highlights

The first round of the 2022 Enduro World Series (EWS) picked up exactly where it left off, on the iconic trails of the Tweed Valley in Scotland.
The extended off-season finally came to an end, when riders descended on the area’s famous hills to add to the valley’s already rich racing history. The Scottish fans turned out in force under blue skies, and their efforts were rewarded when two homegrown heroes made it onto the podium.

Much preferred the length of the previous years highlights, this really felt like the stages were skimmed over too quickly same with EWS-E.

What happened to the video format from previous years?? It used to be much longer with better content and it would display the times and leaderboard after each stage.

Was very hard to follow the race by only listening. Also the between stage interviews are gone. Did they loose some sponsors? Worst EWS recap in a long time.

They are doing an extended version which will be released on Tuesday. I think they are just trying to get some basic content out ASAP. Quite a lot of editing work required.

@@uci_mtbworldseries Then may I suggest a snappier edit and mention it's a short recap in the headline with longer fuller coverage to follow later. This edit was really disappointing - lose the swirly drone shots as it's really hard to watch the riders riding, there seemed to be no narrative and lots of odd jumpy cuts, graphics were also below standard... Last year was great coverage and I looked forward to every new video, production values were great, whereas this sadly felt amateur in comparison... I have my fingers crossed that it's lessons learnt and onwards and upwards from here :-)

Please bring back last years amount of coverage. Was itching to see the highlight video and scrolled past it thinking it wasn't it since it was so short. You guys provide the coverage for EWS. At least the top 3 coverage for men and women again like last year. There's a lot going on and 10 minutes just can't cover for those of us who aren't there. Thanks!

Hi Andrew, thanks for the feedback. We're working on a new production model where we get some race action out quickly, followed by a new, in-depth show that comes out later in the week. We're always open to hearing ideas and with anything new like this there's often a few bumps in the road, but we learn from them and work hard to fix them. We're listening!

@@uci_mtbworldseries what was especially lacking was the graphics showing rider position and times after each stage. That helps the audience follow along and be more intimate with the racing. Otherwise, its just more bike porn. You all had some good things going with Pinkbike and GMBN over the last years- don't lose those.

Thanks for this! Love every bit of coverage I can get, but it is a shame it seems scaled back from last year's stellar productions. With Pinkbike, GMBN and yourselves all there, it does seem like a missed opportunity.

Ews coverage format Each stage is lined with cameras at each checkpoint that film riders as they come past Cameras are broadcasted live on ews website or youtube Able to check live cameras on each stage to see riders coming by Possible for pro and/or queen stage to have more coverage than others Live stage results appear on screen in order of last to finish not placing Separate results for live placing Commentary: Commentary for top 20 men and women dropping in as they ride by the cameras and as they finish stage(similar to dh) This will require two funny and keen mtb commentators to comment on what the riders are looking at, their finishing time etc. Commentators should be good for a laugh Maybe have an on bike specific commentator pedaling around and interviewing riders on the liaisons or at the end of stages. These interviews can be recorded as a live feed and uploaded on a separate page for viewers to find as the race goes on All commentary and interviews should be able to be viewed live and after the race as a ”replay” (still same footage) Build up to event: have two competent riders preview the trails in depth with each trail. How they feel about the trail and maybe their thought on lines in key sections Could be a seperate video for each stage This Will significantly increase coverage beforehand without even changing much Ews podcast talking about the venue and who looks fast. New technology, injuries, upsets, underdogs etc After event: a recap of results for every stage. This will be different from the highlights and only include some brief highlights of the stages. Mainly focusing on the results of men and women in each stage. Race highlights will be a massive compilation of every single clip of good footage they have after the race the longer the better.

Literaly at school procrastinating howework so made this. This is just some seriouxly simple ideas on how the format can be improved. Although enduro is hard to present its not impossible. If you guys (ews) had spent even one week during the off season you could have come up with some far better coverage than this. Enduro is the most accesible and sold discipline so would make sense to invest some time into the fotage to grow the sport and the industry. Spend some money on this and ultimatley the viewing and profits will go through the roof!

@@rarelycomments they used to say that about downhill racing too. Look at how much better that coverage is. It just takes someone willing to try the experiment. Without at least risking it once and seeing how it works out, it's all just excuses. No need to give excuses for them. Red Bull can film and broadcast Rampage in the middle of the freaking desert so I think they can figure it out. Kind of a chicken and the egg thing here. You can't get more ad revenue and sponsorship dollars without more people watching it. People can't watch what they can't see. More coverage would ultimately be better for everyone if the interest follows, including the riders and mechanics who could hopefully be paid better salaries. Someone has to take the gamble though and provide a better entertainment product for it to have any chance of widespread success.

Thanks again EWS, love watching the racing, but I too would prefer waiting a bit longer to view a 15-20min proper race overview, rather then see all the short clips get online quickly! I know its a tough call for you wanting to get footage online asap. But if you post too many short clips, I loose the want to watch a longer video later, possibly loosing you view numbers!? keep up the great work otherwise,... thanks,

@@BrandonBaecker Fully agree that it'd be sweet to have a mega long review immediately after the race, but it sounds like that isn't practical for them so that's how things are now. The longer review sounds like it's going to be more than double the length of this highlights clip and have more substance to it, so there should still be new info/content in there. Guess it also allows them to get more footage together from riders and so on too. In terms of timing, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't in terms of putting some kind of content out on the day of the race (which again, this longer video wouldn't be possible to do). They may mix things up after seeing the reaction to the media they've posted this race, but we'll see I guess.

The coverage is so sparse that it seems like random riding clips that don’t give a sense of the race at all, followed by short interviews with no insights at all. I was hoping this year would step things up, and instead we got a few steps back.

A healthy and focused Richie Rude is going to be very difficult to beat this season. Jesse Melamed, Martin Maes, and Jack Moir, and hopefully Sam Hill, will be hot on his tail. But its Richie's to lose on any given week.

Only just started riding a few weeks ago after shoulder surgery recovery. Basically no training at all for the whole off season

The information we get is only a summary of top 3 stage results, no info about any other racers etc. Soo much more can happen during such a long race. Coverage like this makes it totally unamusing and uninteresting to watch.

Terrible coverage of a pro event. Less talk, more camera, and more drama in realtime rather then the wannabee commentator hype. I don't know what happened in this race other then Richie won

Please go back to last year's coverage methods, the short videos hardly provide any insight. Also this video is exactly the same one as GMBN uploaded ! If this carries on I'd say you'll lose a fair few watchers on this platform
