Cardinal Luis Tagle's homily at the Clossing Mass of the 2024 National Eucharistic Congress

Conversion to the Eucharist burns my heart, having had a profound conversion 16 years ago on pilgrimage where God intervened through our Blessed Mother to save my marriage. On my last night in Medjugorje, I was conflicted about whether to go up to the Apparition Hill to say farewell to our Blessed Mother or attend the Eucharistic Adoration. She answered that if you must choose between my Apparition and Jesus in the Eucharist- choose Jesus. Since my conversion, I have grown to have an immense love for the Eucharist. I firmly believe that our Blessed Mother has been with Jesus in every Holy Mass, as she did at the foot of the Cross in Calvary. Viva Cristo Rey and Ave Maria.

Wonderful message from Cardinal Tagle....A Eucharistic people is a missionary and an evangelizing people. The gift of the Eucharist prevents the Church from falling into the temptation of seeking self-preservation. Our encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist sends us on a mission, a mission to evangelize by giving out the gift of our very own flesh! Faith thus becomes a life task, that of bringing God's presence to our day to day encounters. The transforming Encounter with the person of Jesus in the Eucharist transforms our lives and sends us TO GO (on mission) and give ourselves to others, thus Transforming the world. The encounter with Jesus in his WORD, BODY AND BLOOD must be followed by TRANSFORMATION in our way of APPROACHING LIFE. Such a wonderful message for the men and women of our times.

Today at Mass I closed my eyes as our priest was sanctifying the Eucharist and the wine. From behind my eyelids I saw the Holy Spirit shoot down into the gifts to the altar. It was objective and shown to me through spiritual eyes. A most beautiful gift. It looked like a bird plummeting straight down from high above. When I came home still marveling over this vision I learned of this Eucharistic Event. It was surely a Blessing to have such an experience with Christ through the Holy Spirit. ❤🙏🏼
