Check out the early prints compared to what they are capable of today! Later this week I'll release another video with vertico showcasing many prints in a row I was able to witness in person. The Vertico CEO Volker Ruitinga was my first Podcast guest, his second appearance on the Automated Construction Podcast will also air soon!
Vertico specializes in parametric design, you'll see how many different textures they have explored with let me know in the comments if one sticks out as your favorite in particular, I'm sure Vertico would like the feedback as well.
The founder and CEO Volker Ruitinga came from the automobile manufacturing industry before plunging into printed concrete using a robotic arm from the manufacturing facility he used to work in. They have come a long way since then using no parts from the original system. They've upgraded the robot, the pumps, mixing system and even added a silo.

@@zlmdragon. No, I haven't been to a printed home in an earthquake zone yet. I do know it requires far more expansion joints.

Yeah, vertico does a great job. I think that they ordered this printer from a company that manufactures the equipment for them to their specifications. This model of printer with the track system Vertico sales has been pretty successful. I just did a video with a group in Florida that has the same model.

Once we figure out a cement mix design (or a geopolymer mix design) that allows us to batch and then boom pump into the printer hopper. Then we are read for primetime. It is going to be nerve-wracking but I'm hoping that with some extensive R&D some VERY BIG IRON and some very precise AI ... ??? If we start with first principles. How are we mixing the cement in the truck? Is that any different then how we are small-batching our current hoppers. I think that a reconfigure of what we currently understand as a concrete truck might be the cat's meow. A boom pump is a boom pump, until we cant have any material sitting still past 5 min in the piping ... which means we need to be able to blow out the pipes at a moments notice ... all doable !!! It's ripe for innovation if we want to bring this to scale. I mean a precision 3D printer with the reach of a boom pump ??? YIKES !!! Now we are reinventing the wheel. But Hey ... If Elon Musk can engineer a Starship Launch Tower with CHOPSTICKS ... I guess the concrete industry can step up it's engineering prowess too.

I come from the old school, having worked with adobe construction on many different projects. I've made adobe bricks by hand and even considered buying an adobe brick making machine when a distant adobe brick yard defeated the whole purpose of building with adobe. More recently I looked into rammed earth construction which stabilized clay with 10-20% cement - a bit less labor intensive than bricks. My own preferences tend more toward the minimalist American southwest pueblo style, so all the textures and convoluted designs made possible by 3-D construction technology are lost on me. Nevertheless I find it intriguing and transformative. Thanks for your videos.

Wonder how long before a similar robot can print a 60 feet wide (30feet span) house 4 stories high. 3-4 years?

You could do it now in sections but it would need significant & expensive steel structural support.
