I still have my Tunnel Medalion. I was in the nightclub industry back in 1990. Went to Underground, Inflations, Bubble, Hyperdrome, Colonial Hotel, etc I think DM was at the Tunnel On 7 October 1991, Darren Millane was killed in a car crash while intoxicated. In the early morning of the day, he was driving on Queens Road, near Albert Park Lake, before he clipped a semi-trailer and rolled his car, being killed instantly.

The Underground on King St was massive in its day long queue to get in use to go of its head and so was Lazzars was a fantastic venue 3 levels with a roof top piano bar had to wear a suit and tie to get in.Worked at the Ivy as a Dj use to be huge when Jim Green owned it 4 levels of a blast we also did live broadcast end of broadcast parties at Tatoo nightclub it was the biggest ever crowd i have seen in my day people lining up around the corner long line it went of live radio from Cityfm. Please mension the Ivy it was at the corner of Russell St and Flinders lane Back in its day was owned formerly when opened up by Glen Weatley John Farhnam manager now the Ivy is a furniture shop keep up the good work like your vidoes cheers Phil😅

I worked at Platform 1 for a couple of years before it shut down for renovations. It closed up in September 2020, they initally planned to fully renovate the venue reopen it in 12 weeks. Obviously that never happened, as the reno plans changed and COVID started. From what I heard, the owners of P1 Chris & John, saved up around $750k to renovate the venue, and I believe Borche bought into the business helped them fund the full reno. Levels was crazy always super busy especially when they had big DJ's come in such as Will Sparks, Marlo, and for new years. I always remeber working new years and would go to smokers and watch the fireworks. But the last 6 months or so of Levels being open, it defiently slowed down and numbers got less as the weeks went by. They also had a few gay & indian nights which happened, not an on-going event. But their most common one was "Fang" which happened every public holiday, they werent able to fill the venue as it was a goth night but still did very well.

The machete attack was on the ten year anniversary of bubble - we got there just after the cops had arrived and was told by the cops they had shut it down and we’d have to go take our “stuff” elsewhere! Then we caught word that they were still letting people in the bottom entrance so we went round the corner and went in - epic night had one of the best times ever rip bubble!

Hey Danny, I was a resident at Bubble (and a few others. We actually went to school together!). Bubble was sick. It got a bad wrap (rightfully so) but it was actually a really good and safe rave club to go to in the early years. I was there the night that machete attack happened. I turned up to do my set after all that happened from memory. Was pretty full on. There was another club that got shut down called Salt, and a lot of people that frequented that place ended up at Bubble, which is when all this stuff kicked off. Then it got progressively worse as the years went on. Bit of a shame, but glad I got to be apart of it all. Love the videos mate. Bringing back a lot of late night memories!

Lester Ellis and Barry Micaheals were fightnih for the Auatraliasian tltle ca not remeber what weight divivsion, but i digrees. Alfonse wanted Lester to win apprantly he bet big on Lester winning, Lester was favourite to win. But alas Barry won and Alfonse lost big money. Kings Bars was a total fuck up four owners two rich kids nerdy kids whose father in the 1980's challegned Sunday trading laws. yes in the 1980's it was illegal to open your shop for trade, but i digress. Kings bar other two owners were degenerate one a gambler who wouyld take the nights takings and bet 5K, 10K on the trots, horses or dogs. He would place bet acrossthe road at a pub i beleive called, fuck cant remeber what its called, it made a shit load of money from gangster gambling from their less the suspect gains (money). The fourh owner was a hard core drunk and speed head he was always of his chops being a dengenrate lothario slxeeing on chicks infront of his wife, just a fucking low life scumbag. Kings was busy bar but neever had any money, us the staff used to pay ourselves at the end of every shift no of the woners gave a fuck we did this. To them us paying ourselves meant they had staff even though i tried to implement a system to mange, track and account fro revune and stock control, these guys did not give a fuck.

Every Friday lunch we used to run a gentlemans luncheons by a entrepreneural stripper from Perth can't rember her name but she was kool as fuck. Fridays used to pump hard 150 blokes paying $100 buck for sit food and drink 3 hour lunch. I like 19 years old suurounded by hot chicks calling me cutey , i used to get so red in the face and bashful... and no my life is not a hollywood movie that i was picking up strippers at that age they were to much women for me. Guess what the dysfunctional owners of Kings fucked it up by not paying the strippers, two months later the Tunnel oppened up Friday lucnheon strip club. Short time later Peter I opened up The Mens Gallery and the rest is history for strip clubs in Melbourne he is the godfather of these clubs and clubbing in Kings Street The Tunnel became the busiest club in Melbourne, Friday and Saturdays was 50% over capcacity and rowd turnover was huge i can be 100% sure they would trun over 3000 people a night. Thursday and Sunday where busy but at capcity and Tuesday nights uni night cheap drinks abd a lot of fun. There was so much trouble their mostly from football clubs abd bucks parties and you gussed it every fuckin night there were punch on and fights. the laneway nex to Tunnel was just a bloodbath allley, the bouncer who worked their were geared up but also hardcore boxers, karate dudes the were just mean but nice to me, cos i use feed for free i used to owrk at a restaurant the kicthen door was looking into blood bath alley . Front rows seat ot some harcore ultra violence. Tunnel doorman was O.C he was American /African and he copped some much abuse from redecks drunken biggots knuckle dragging neanderthals dumd cunts. But OC would give it bck not with angry but just smile at the mwhile Leon the bar manger would viode tape them. Next up St Kilda Prince of Wales where i worked for 6 years..... if anyone wants to give me a hard time about my spelling and grameeeeeer....... go fuck yourself

@bendoe7087 Dan andrews said he sold hot dogs around 1993 (which makes sense timeline wise) it wasn't when this guy was partying . Unless Danny is nearly 50 lol

Went there for entertainment with some a Canadian backpacker after work, finish at 9pm and was go time. Her mate was into weird shit but entertaining.

@@Dannysrants An oral history of Melbourne's rave scene, '88-'97 Fantasia Commerical Rd, SY. Then Red Raw, Winterdayz,Summerdayz, Shed 13 & 14 Docklands - Now one stop shop for caramel milkshakes at Poof Doof Chasers. Also Ginger Bread Man ( Jake the Snake) with Peter Raff did Red Heads at Sth Melbourne Football Club, Miss Candy, Freakasoid at back of Chevron and Dome. Unprecidented iconic club scene. Jake died of pancreatic cancer recently. Raff is in Bali. I think? Also Future Entertainment & Earth Core were major players in the underground rave, techno club scene. Earth Core pioneer knocked himself off with drug debt money and worked for Tollie for a few events at the pub on Bourke St.
