A compilation of the crazy tricks DJ's tried out would be good, like the ones with props. Some of those ones were hilarious.

Loving this series and your analysis! Would also be fun to look at some of the more infamous moments from DMC, stuff like DJ Nike 1997, possibly the funniest DJ set of all time.

Another great video Homie). My all-time is Kentaro world champion set. Ptrix was just on another level with those juggles. Klever was just so killer as well

88 cash. So good and your right, we had never seen that before. I was there and it was so electric to witness. Only one I would have added would have been Aladdin. His toggle switch scratchin was so good… great video again bro. 👊🏻 0:15

Super cool to get an insiders view on the technicality and why things are impressive. Given the older tech super impressive. Makes me wonder with current comps how do ppl keep it fresh and innovate as they did back in the day?

If I had to pick one performance from a US DMC Final, it would have to be Rob Swift in '92. Crazy thing is, he only finished third in that battle, behind Raida and, of course, the rock Steady DJSs. Actually, did you know that the Rock Steady DJS finished second in the West Coast Final in '92, behind 8-Ball? Crazy.

I didn’t know either of these things! I need to dig out that Rob Swift set. Thanks for the knowledge 🙏🏻

I would love to watch these routines now, re-recorded with proper lighting in a controlled stress free enviroment. Also, I'd like to see your thoughs on more modern routines, theres so much production its really hard to keep up with whats going on.

- Cash Money finally, that set it´s an event by itself. Roc Raida 1995 the 2nd best, and Dj Noize 1995 set is 3rd, and Alliance Ethnik French DJs set was amazing on musicality and scratches ✌

Do a feature on scratch and technical dj’s in Jungle D’n’B - one genre outside of breaks/hip hop that features turntablism as mentioned with Craze in this video, Marky and Hype etc
@stevehandford55302 сағат бұрын
Yep. Watermelon. Craze is just an alien. He just hears things in records to flip into his routines.

I got into scratching in high school in 2004 and trying to find these DMC videos on bearshare/limewire/napster etc was nuts. KZbin wasn't a thing until 2005. All you guys from the 2004 DMC blew my mind. It was after a friend showed me the Scratch documentary. I've watched 2004 so many times since that's honestly what I started with. You, Gero, ie.merge, rattle, taishi, the list just keeps going; all you guys were good. Oh I do remember the clown that Tony Prince laughed at in the pre-lims, I think his name was dj romano or something like that and he just played "together" for an entire 3 minutes and Tony was like wtf was that? lol but yeah, tons and tons of great dj's. I think after 2004 it went down hill. I feel like ie.merge brought in the custom records and people started going that route until it all turned into digital crap like it is now.
@DJBlakeyUk15 сағат бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. The pre made records definitely changed it.
@bubz3t13615 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I never liked i.emerge at all. There are still some comments I left under KZbin videos, in like 2006, where I'm explaining how I think he played a big part in killing the battle scene. I think many people/judges were just fooled into thinking he was great because he was so fast By the way, does anyone know what he's up to these days? He just seemed to vanish. Didn't he hold the records for the most titles won by one DJ?
@eatshrots14 сағат бұрын
@@bubz3t136 I don't know if he has that record, but he was no doubt amazing. It wasn't just the set, but his aggressive style that he brought. I agree, I think about that sometimes as to where the dude disappeared to lol He was buddies with Craze, I saw a video of him practicing his set at his place. Think he grew up in the NJ/NY area and moved to Miami back then. Who knows about now. But can't knock the guy, I think he was really good, BUT his 2005 defense was kinda whack with the Daft Punk juggle lol
