As usual Don Felder is a class act, giving praise and respect to other artists in his humble way.

Don Felder's ability on the guitar turned the Eagles from being a good band into a great band. He has every right to be demonstrably critical of Henley and Frey but he always takes the high road. As you say . . he's a class act and one of the all time best on the lead guitar.

Don Felder’s book Heaven and Hell. Fascinating in depth look at his life and journey, from a dirt poor family in Gainesville Florida to historic musical stardom. Felder, maintains humility and class. Felder’s guitar is the foundation to the Eagles success.

I think it's so good to see that people respect Felder like they do! And that's not more evident than when he mentions people's connection between the white double neck he played on hotel

Don Felder can put to rest any theory that all celebs are arrogant. He is a gentleman in the purest sense of the term. He was far too kind to have had to play with the eagles

Don only wrote the music to 5 Eagles songs. He's a nice guy, but he was not the main songwriter. He is a great guitar player, but he writing a song is not the same as writing a guitar solo after a song is written.
@billyboyer3 жыл бұрын
@@markothwriter That's true. Where he shined in writing was the lyrics. Frey would throw in a few lines but that was about it. It was Walsh, Felder, Leadon, and Frey who really wrote the music side of things. Either way, the majority of the time they shared the publishing royalties. Except for Walsh, as he was never a full member - except for a few songs (In the City, Pretty Maids All In A Row) He still isn't, but very, very well paid.
@Zero88803 жыл бұрын
@@billyboyer I think you are confusing Don Felder with Don Henley. Felder would send Frey and Henley demos of his guitar licks, and they would pick and choose which ones they liked, and then wrote lyrics to the songs. For "Hotel California", Frey came up with the concept of a guy driving through the desert, heading towards California, but it was mostly Don Henley who fleshed out and wrote the enchanting lyrics to the now iconic song. I would go as far as to say that Don Henley is one of the greatest lyricists the US has ever produced. Some of the songs from his solo career are quite prophetic. The fact that he majored in English Literature in college really benefited him in career.

@@markothwriter he came up with music which the others later added lyrics to. There is no Hotel California without the music Felder first created

My Grandmother lived in a pink house on a dead end street. I remember going to visit my cousin who was house sitting, the livingroom was yellow. He was listening to Hotel California. That's the first time I ever heard of the Eagles. I've heard their songs on the radio. Didn't know who sang them.

I really don't care about the feud between The Eagles members, it's old and tired, what I will say is, take away any of the contributions from any of them and the whole thing would be greatly diminished.

It would be important to note.. For many incredible bands over the years, friction, ego and conflict have been a critical driving force in the overall quality of their material.. It should be no surprise that people who choose to dream, struggle and put aside a normal life in order to make music would get under each other's skin.. As glamorous as it all appears, it's really a business of managing insecurities..

I think Don Felder is a great guitar player, but I've always hated the song "Hotel California". I think the lyrics are really stupid - I don't think Felder wrote those. The only songs on the album Hotel California that I really like are "New Kid in Town" and "Try and Love Again". These probably aren't popular opinions, but that's the nature of music - it's very subjective.
