These were the backbone for the old RTD bus system in Los Angeles!

A bus fan from New York just bought this bus and it's on it's way cross-country.

This bus was part of a 65 bus order during the SCRTD days or just RTD for short. The name was changed to Metro in 1993. That is not the original livery, though it's not far off from the RTD livery. The engine is a Cummins L10 with a Voith D863.3 transmission. Most buses in this order retired in 2003. This bus ran out of the Gateway Division (Division 10). The advertisement is for Huntington Park, the zip code on the bottom gives it away.

2737 - with a Cummins L10 diesel engine and a Voith DIWA D863.2-W7 transmission. Being a 1989 model, Grumman no longer existed as a bus builder (its share of Flxible was sold in early 1983).

I have been an SCRTD fan/nut, since I was a kid. I would love to find one of these LA RTD/MTA Flxibles and have the means to restore it. I would definitely re-painted to the original RTD livery. I would then have the destination sign re-loaded (if needed) with all the destinations and then drive my bus following the route of the corresponding Line number while "Not In Service," lol. This is my most favorite coach, along with the old 1960s Flxible New Look Series, GMC Fishbowls, AM General, RTS "Twinkie", and the Neoplan Double Decker.

It's amazing how 3 months after you filmed this, a bus fan in LA ended up buying this bus and it still runs good. Nice film.

BusTV Chan IKR. BTW, if you ever go near Dallas Texas, be sure to check out a place called Tejas Motors or Tejas Oil. They have about 3 or so SCRTD 1983-1984 Neoplan AN440's there. I really wish somebody could grab one.

Greater Cleveland, Ohio RTA was running Flexible buses as late as 2008 they bought a few used ones from New Jersey Transit Authority to bridge the gap between some old Flexible's going out of service and new buses on the way.

Why was this LACMTA bus was retired from California to Arizona? I thought all the buses were not retired
@justincarter70178 жыл бұрын
looks like it was operated out of the lacmta gateway division before its demise. judging by the division sticker on the rear, would been sick to see it in the old two stripe red orange livery.

What is a LA Metro is doing in Arizona I live here in LA and I don't see those buses anymore those were 90 buses
@calvincrews38858 жыл бұрын
if I could buy that bus I've would swap that stupid Cummins L10 diesel engine and the voith D863 automatic transmission with the 6v 92 TA anolog or DDEC Detroit diesel engine with the v730 or v731 Allison automatic transmission and see if someone can make the grummman badges and put them on the bus and put the SCRTD or RTD
