This is why i am so glad we drafted Jordan Travis. I am still excited about that pick because the situation he's in is super optimal. He gets to sit behind Arod, and Tyrod and just learn and because he ide all the way to the 5th round due to his injury i believe we got a real steal. People forget how good he was playing at Florida State. Thank good Joe Douglas didn't. He can marinate on the bench for at least two years and when its finally time for him to start i believe we will have a legitimate franchise quarterback for the future thats ready to ball out
@Ballin-97
@Ballin-97 Ай бұрын
He didn’t slide to the 5th round mainly due to injury. All the major scouting profiles refer to his deficiencies as a passer as to why he was a day 3 pick. What makes you believe he was more than a late 3rd round prospect at best? Do you have sources? All the major websites do not corroborate your claim Also, look at the entire history of 5th round qbs. Mark Brunell in the early 1990s is literally the only 5th round qb to ever start in a significant capacity in the nfl. Mike White is arguably the 2nd best 5th round qb ever. Travis might be good, but there is no reason to believe so other than Jets fan bias

@@noahblack5620 but a 5th round pick has never done it other than Mark Brunell. And by your logic, every single qb in every draft should be considered to have franchise qb potential because Purdy did it and he was the last pick.. but that is obviously flawed logic

@@Ballin-97 The conclusion from the available data should be that very late round QBs have a low success rate, not that the arbitrary distinction of a 5th round QB vs a 4th round QB (Which was where Cousins and Dak were drafted) is relevant. Travis will most likely not work out but to say he cannot succeed because he happened to be drafted in the 5th round vs the 4th 6th or 7th is silly. There's no mystical quality about the 5th round that makes QB drafted there be bad

@@Ballin-97 if you want to fixate on the round he went in be my guest. What I am going to choose to focus on as a Jets fan is that we are smartly investing in our future at the most important position possible and we are not putting him in a situation where it's either sink or swim instead it's sit down get healthy and learn.

We certainly saw flashes from Sam Darnold when he was with the Jets and Darnold also started out well with the Panthers for the first few games when he was QB 1 there. I think it usually takes a few years for guys to develop at the QB position because the defense are more complicated in the NFL and the athletes on defense are much better. Also the Jets never surrounded Sam with the talent or coaching he has received in S.F. or Minnesota.

Especially not for a player who is not comfortable in front of the media. Sam Darnold is still not comfortable elsewhere, even in Minnesota. That said, I believe that the atmosphere in a locker room and the support a QB receives is extremely important. Also, Kevin O'Connell >>> Mike Zimmer.

The Jets organization sucks at developing QB’s. The owner puts pressure on the coaching staff to play the new players. It is a organization issue. Glad they could show that they are worth the picks. 🏈🤔💭😀✌️

Yeah, that's proof that the Jets are bad at developing quarterbacks, they leave and resurrect their careers elsewhere except for Zach. I'm rooting for the Jaguars tonight, I could be wrong but if Jacksonville wins the Jets are in first place with a better conference record. On to Denver

That bitterness against ZW is part of the fandom problem. You’re blaming the kid because the Jets failed his development.

@TheHighlanderprime lmao truthers disgust me. Yall said the most untrue thing that's ever been said and still won't admit it. I bet you hoped the Jets sucked this year so you could hero worship a historical atrocity of a QB. Go buy his Denver jersey fake ahh jet fan

@@TheHighlanderprime whats funny is those same coaches who supposedly failed ZW have a great chance to have a winning season and possibly get extensions because of it lol
