Ex-Palestinian PM Salam Fayyad: ‘PLO should expand to include Hamas’ | The Bottom Line

“No national liberation movement in history is based on what its enemy wants,” says the former prime minister of the Palestinian Authority, Salam Fayyad.
For the Palestinian Authority to have any legitimacy in the eyes of the Palestinian people, the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) would have to expand its membership to include Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Fayyad tells host Steve Clemons.
Without achieving a "national consensus", the Palestinian Authority is in no position to rule the Gaza Strip when Israel's war on Gaza ends, Fayyad says. Otherwise, the United States' hopes for a “revitalised” Palestinian leadership are pointless.

The solution to the Palestinian/Israeli dispute has always had it's prototype, the United States of America. What should be done is there should be an establishment of a Confederacy of two States between the two people. Due to the blatant hostilities and expansionist dreams of the Zionist toward the Palestinians claim to statehood the governance and security of each must be held completely separate by each of the states. Those who are willing to live under Israeli(Jewish) or Palestinian (Secular) Democratic law will be allowed the right to do so, and accorded full Rights as citizens of that State provided they can prove a legitimate claim to the lands/homes in which they reside.(*Settlers) A buffer zone in sensitive land areas will be jointly maintained/Policed by both States in order to insure non-aggression by either party is assured. In time trade and mutual beneficial projects for both states can be initiated, and hopefully eventually a merging of Palestinian and Israeli populations will result in a Unified military force whose mission is the protection of what will be identified by the world as the United States of Israel-Palestine, with full cultural exchange, liberty, and justice for all. Two flags, two cultures, and one imperative that both can live in peace on the land of their ancestors. With careful diligence and regular political interaction between high members of each States Leadership, the Civil War that occurred between the North and the South in America will never be an issue, and the River to the Sea will be a reality for all who live in the Holy land. This hopefully would end up being the equivalent of the line from US national anthem, "from Sea to shining Sea."

@@dsadunnodudeish4535 sure, in 1948 Israel declared independence with UN approval based on the UN partition plan and immediately Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan declared war on Israel and told the Arabs living there to leave until victory was secured and they could return. Some Arabs left and became refugees, some stayed. Israel won the war and the ones that stayed became Arab Israelis and the ones that left were under Egyptian rule in Gaza and Jordanian rule in the West Bank until 1967. The Palestineans were no better off under Egyptian and Jordanian rule than they were in the 80s and 90s, in fact Arafat and the PLO tried to overthrow the Jordanian government (google Black September). The Arab countries formed into war positions to fight again in 1967 and Israel launched a defensive pre-emptive attack and won again, this time taking more land including the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights, ultimately giving back the Sinai Peninsula. The occupation of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since 1967 was partly because Egypt and Jordan didn't want to govern the Palestinian territories. When Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005 Hamas and the PA (Fatah) entered into conflict for control over Gaza and Hamas won, and ultimately won the election to lead Gaza. Israeli PM Ariel Sharon pulled all of the Jewish settlers out of the Gaza Strip at the time, some by force. The occupation of Gaza since then has really been more of a blockade since technically Israel hadn't had boots on the ground prior to October 7, with Israel and Egypt managing Gaza's borders, airspace, and waters, so exerting control over what goods get in and out, and the IDF conducting occasional raids and sieges on Gaza as part of the ongoing conflict with Hamas, who has denied Gazan citizens the benefits of international aid in favor of building a massive terrorist infrastructure that they now refuse to let Gazan civilians take shelter in. maybe this is a more complicated comment than you bargained for, but it happens to be historical truth.

Also how can they have voted hamas when they ended elections and turned gaza into a singular regime to counter israel with minimal disruption from within. Including when the majority of those people didn't vote hamas in anyway, look at the ages of the population.

STAY WITHIN YOUR OWN 1967 ESTABLISHED BORDERS. THE squatters/'settlers' on PALESTINIAN land, homes, villages, orchards etc HAVE NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER TO BE THERE.
