Story 2 should have filed a complaint with the AGs office since it was work safety, and let them battle it out with the DA, whus job it is to go after bad cops if the precinct won't.

My friend’s aunt used to be a guidance counselor, and before that a math teacher. She would say, “These kids don’t know how to ‘W-R-I-T-E’, but they know their ‘R-I-G-H-T-S’!”

This is such a sad video. I understand how much these things must be said, about students not wanting to learn, principals not being supportive, parents who don't know how to parent and still having kids anyway, about all the politics involved in the whole school system. The really sad part? This has been going on since WWII. Yes, 1945-46, when education started being taken for granted, and therefore disrespected. Society started speeding up and that part has only gotten worse, making slowing down to actually learn become impossible. So sad.

Children now a days are not as respectful of adults as what they used to be. I was a teacher for three months before I was told to resign or I would be fired and loose my license. I was always being told what I was doing wrong and I was almost never told what I was doing right. It also doesn't help when the students who are in 3rd grade do not know basic phonics. These were students where most of them had no learning disabilities. How was I supposed to teach third grade concepts to children that didn't know first grade concepts? Not to mention that I was hired as an ELA teacher when I thought I would be teaching all subjects and that I could tailor instruction to meet the children's needs. In reality, they wanted me to stick to the curriculum with little to no wiggle room. Bottom line, administration doesn't always support new teachers and parents need to try and take an active role in their children's education. Also, while I live in America, I can relate to story 22.

Rather than the kids, admin seems like the biggest problem. Most kids are unruly by default and need discipline to be kept in line. Teachers are unable to do so anymore because they are the first ones to get thrown under the bus to appease everyone else. When I was in school 15 years back, suspension was a scary thing and most students showed (some) degree of respect to authority. The current state of learning now seems absolutely nuts in comparison.

Story 1 should have immediately been cause to expell the student. Having a parent threaten to harm a teacher is unacceptable

It seems to me that there's a disturbing trend of people having _negative_ respect for any other person, through all areas of society, at roughly the same rate.

It really sounds like the real issues here are with administration. That's the thing about solving every problem by throwing your staff under the bus and not giving them the bare minimum they need to do their jobs: talented people don't want to work for you. I haven't been a teacher but I have worked in industries that operate like that and it's a completely avoidable shitshow from start to finish.

Had teachers who were fond of saying my classmates would be "garbage men" as adults. Yeah... Not much of an insult when trash collectors have better pay, job security, and Union benefits packages without having to go to college. And lockdown proved who was ultimately an "Essential Worker". And teachers weren't among them... Just like they aren't for three months a year.

I am so glad I did not have children. How are people supposed to raise functional adults when the education system is broken and breaking further because no one is paying attention or caring about it? Scary. 😢

Teaching will make you age faster as I learn from my mom. My mom is a teacher for first grade (and still is teaching)she’s just getting in her 40’s and she looks like an old lady not by her facial looks but by her hair. to a point that the little children she teaches ask her if she’s my little sisters grandmother and not her mom. I sometimes wonder if she had gotten a job where she is less stressed and more happy would she be looking younger in her 40’s by now??

teaching in america is a terrible idea. everybody knows it's hard but nobody thinks you deserve good pay. unless that is your absolute passion, it's not worth your time and effort because money is important and teaching is not valued monetarily. you should literally do anything but teaching if you understand economics because there are entry level jobs that pay more with less of a hassle.

16:00 .... Is this person trashing people taking DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. They are just an AH. DiffEQ IS NOT easy math. It's basically treated as Calculus 4 and most people with a college education will only take normal Calculus. Even if you're great at math it's an entirely different beast. Me being someone who took it.

Maybe this is my age talking, but why does it feel like either children these days have victim complex, or we're just teaching them that their failure is somebody else's fault. Either scenario does not give me hope for the future

children are wild animals when one has no authority over them, ask any teacher, most will confirm it, especially substitute teachers, and when students perform poorly, the student and his parents are the last held accountable, reason why I gave up teaching very early. children have not been raised properly, and I would tell the parent to the face to enroll their student in a pre-school. school ain't no place to raise a kid, the school is where you teach them. two diffrent things

It is not my job as a parent to teach my kids homework and help him. It's your job to I teach him enough in class that he can then do the homework with little oversight by me. I have a 50/hr+ week already, and teaching isn't one of them. I will help my son where I can. I will ensure he does the homework best to his and my ability. But I will not spend thirty minutes at 9 at night learning what he needs to know so I can re-teach him what you're job was during school hours. He will be bringing that with back to class in the morning with instructions from me, to ask you to re-explain it to him. I spend 1/10th of my income to send him to a private school for a reason. Make no mistake, I love good teachers and respect them, i couldn't do it myself. But that is your chosen job that you chose to do. Not mine, which is why I don't. If your attitude is "once I assign it as homework it's the parents job", you're in the wrong profession. You're not coming out to do my job after my hours are over, why would you think I should do your job after your hours for the day are over?
