But you clearly haven't lived it. Some fell in to heaven & some fell into he'll. Shane McGowan. I have no time for fundamentalist religion but it's his way with his God. If you understood the times maybe you'd have more compassion. He has done tremendous work on the ground & helps people everyday. A time & a place. All deaths are grieved so show some grace & compassion. Just my opinion.

Tragic misguided hatred. Human beings disliking each other for no good reason. To a new peaceful happy future together. Our past can be consigned to history. There is nothing that divides us except mental barriers.

I live in America and I weep for the sufferers of PTSD in NI. I heard him talking about mental health medication, like antidepressants or antianxiety meds as being addictive and that children abused them. Medical science is a long way past that and newer drugs are very helpful and unlikely to tempt your kids to abuse. What is not helpful is the lack of medical care needed, not to mention the lack of mental health care in the NHS system in NI. In addition though, there is the over reaching attitude that seeking mental health care defines a person as weak. That attitude is far more pervasive in Irish culture than it is in British or American culture. The lack of medical care plus the reluctance to ask for it dooms the society to keep suffering from PTSD and generational PTSD.

Grew up during the troubles it was hard. Some organisations still go around the housing estates recruiting kids and doleing out extreme punishment beating. So as long as this still happens the kids now are not safe.

When he says he wanted everyone to know that he was the man who was defending his community, that is the type of person that becomes pretty useless pretty quick cause once you're a red light to security forces then you're not much use, the key to success is no one knowing of your involvement, thats when you are most dangerous!!

Education is always key. The Wealthy Unionists/ Orange Order fired this Conflict because they seen equal status for the Native Irish as a step to Reunification of Ireland. These Wealthy Unionists and Civil Servant's didn't want to lose their spoils of Partition 1921 Farm's property, etc.etc The undereducated Protestant People were led up the garden path on Trans- identity, You can be British, born and reared in Ireland. Trans-gender is the same nonsense, Paperwork or no Paperwork.

@John8_43-44 There were a few attempts to Plant Ireland, but they failed, as the Irish would hit them at night, and they soon left. It is well recorded that the only Plantation in the North East of Ireland in the 17th Century after the " Flight of the Earl's ", was the only successful one. Do read a few different books my friend.

@@jdfiend well he killed one innocent young man with a breeze block, went to jail and seen the light, not what many would call heroic, something he admits was a purely sectarian murder, contrast that to the the man that was martin meehan, a lifelong republican soldier, who took the lives of many British personnel and ruc, who done many years jail, who broke out of jail, was on the run for most of his active life, took part in a cross border gun battle with British soldiers which lasted several hours among many other gallant acts, and you have the gall to compare him to someone who killed an innocent lad with a breeze block???
