Stances need to be lower, louder kiai, they need to have faster and stronger movements, and they need to care. Seems like they don’t even want to be there.

It's interesting to see the different styles of karate all over the world. I remember my orange belt test. In fact it's on my channel. I appreciate what they had to go through to get to the next level. Congrats

i remember the early days of training, us lower belts continually being corrected for lack of kiai, it's normal to need that constant reminding before you yourself are able to do your own reminding, until then it's challenging to assert yourself into public spaces. you're young, fragile and lack so much life experience let alone karate experience, no less at a karate grading!, so you feel inconfident in a big way! suddenly your teacher takes the training wheels off for a day and you're left to coast on what you yourself have remembered without the aid of sensei and sempai to help you and that's when the grading panel get to take a nice closer look at where you're at.

I am going in for my Orange Belt test tomorrow! It’s interesting to see how different studios do it. Some of that stuff hasn’t been taught yet for us (different curriculum) and some of it is familiar! Congratulations on your belts!

The thing that sucks most that many karate clubs dont seem to teach these young student not to shout KIAI (well these guys are not even shouting) when you should shout from the bottom of your lungs/hearth as that would be your final thing to put out of our mouth. Kime is highly tight to the verbal attack shout, what ever this shout is in any karateka, but dont ever shout KIAI. In English shouting KIAI (in Japanese) is same thing than shouting "SHOUTING". I know many might be shy to shout. Luckily Im in the club that you are looked up when you shout like you are about to kill an army of beasts and you got that perfect kime.
