Examining Ronpa and Friends' Perfect Storm

Damn. You have an amazing eye for detail and critique. RnF chapter 4 is one of my all-time favorites, and I'm really surprised to see a deep dive on it (or rnf at all.) Chip's story arc is one that never changed from the initial first draft, and I think it's one of my best yet. Some things I wanna comment on: The motive for chapter 4 was intentionally similar to chapter 1's- it was supposed to be a joke about the Disney Afternoon shows and how they usually repeated plots between the shows (body-swap episodes, locked out of house episodes, etc.) the bit fell flat because I realized that in my effort to make it interesting I ended up making it too unrelated to chapter 1's. I'm so glad you caught onto the parallels with Gyro and Fenton vs Chip and Dale with the whole "Sidekick" idea, especially with how it relates to Fenton's personal view of himself. I actually didn't intend for the metaphor with Chip and Dales execution, but that's really cool damn I'm sure there's other things I'll think of later and shove in the comments of this comment, but all-in-all, amazing work! It was so interesting to see an analysis of work I did years and years ago. Gonna go watch through your channel now

I don't think I touched *directly* on how Fenton views himself, but I will say rewatching everything up to the end of Chapter 5 in preparation for this video made me appreciate his character in a new way. I did like him the first time around, but the rewatch made me notice just how much he actually does. And yeah, Chip and Dale have a lot of symbolism, intentional or not, and I really liked that. Hope you enjoy the other stuff I've put out! RnF is a large focus of another video I did, and wherever your head is at with writing these days, I think you should know you put out something special. I was engaged with this stuff even without knowing who a good chunk of the cast was!

​@@Korlinium2oftentimes, I see fanworks like this merely be watched/read/listened to and then moved on from, and while any type of support is lovely (even knowing just one person read/watched/listneed to your work is great), it's really awesome to see someone go into such a deep dive not just once, but multiple times just is amazing to see, especially considering that Ronpa and friends ended years ago. It's a wonderful reminder that this work still exists and is still moving viewers even after all this time

Yeah, I agree. I like to see these videos as part critique/analysis, and part writing workshop (especially the one about the different intros). When you're doing writing, or any creative field, I think it's important to have that kind of community around you, however small, to help build you up and inspire you to keep going. It's a huge part of why I started making these; even if only one person saw this and found something they could use in their writing, fangan or not, I'd call that a success. :)
