To understand why people view God as a Trinity we must look at the scriptures. We must look plainly at the evidences, if there be any, and evaluate it all once compiled. If God is really a trinity surely there must be evidence laid throughout the Bible. So let's examine the facts of God laid out in God's own Word: According to scripture we see that God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4, Deuteronomy 4:35, Deuteronomy 32:39, 2 Samuel 7:22, 1 Kings 8:60, 1 Chronicles 17:20, Isaiah 43:10, Isaiah 44:6, Isaiah 45:5, Isaiah 45:2, Isaiah 46:9, Galatians 3:20, Ephesians 4:6, 1 Timothy 2:5, James 2:19, Mark 12:29) However we see that there are 3 persons who are all referred to as God (we'll look at these examples next). But how can 3 be 1 God? A precedent for this understanding of oneness yet distinctness is set in Genesis when God says the husband and wife shall become one flesh (Genesis 2:24). Is the husband no longer one with the wife since he is the head of the wife? Or is the wife lesser than the husband because she is subservient to him? Although they have different roles, they are still equal in Christ, one in nature, and one in union/agreement. We also see this idea of being one in Jesus' prayer for the disciples to be one as the Father and Son are one (John 17:21-23). They are distinct yet unified. One in nature and union/agreement but distinctly their own person with their own role. We further see this precedent set for God with the angel of the LORD; who both refers to God and talks as though He is God, and is seen as God by others. He is distinct from God, being His messenger, yet is also God (Genesis 18, Genesis 23:1-2, 11-12, Genesis 32:24-30, Exodus 3, Judges 13:15-22) We see that this must be the preincarnate Son according to John (John 1:18) We can also see that God himself calls the Son God and that when Isaiah saw God, he saw Jesus (Hebrews 1:8-12, Psalm 104:4, Psalm 45:6-7, Psalm 102:24-27, John 12:36-41, Isaiah 6) Jesus is also given names/titles attributed to God and does things only God can do. Not to mention he is called the uncreated creator who existed before his time on Earth (John 1:1-14, Colossians 1:16, Exodus 3:13-15, John 8:56-58, Luke 5:17-26, John 10:27-33, John 5:17-18, Mark 14:61-64, John 20: 25-31, Psalm 50:1, Jeremiah 32:18, Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 44:6, Revelation 1:8, Revelation 1:17-18, Revelation 22:12-13, 20) Lastly we see that the Holy Spirit is not only shown to have personhood but is also referred to as God (John 16:13-14, Acts 8:26-29, Acts 13:2, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Ephesians 4:30, Acts 5:1-4) The 3 do not make their own decisions but act in unison. The Father didn't send the Son against the Son's own will but the Son willingly went as the Father sent. The Spirit doesn't speak of Himself because the Son forbade Him to but because He chose to speak of the Son. Everything they do is in total agreement, not independent of one another but in agreement with one another These are just the facts laid out in scripture. It's not our job to make up who God is but to look at how he has revealed himself in scripture and either accept or reject the Truth as He has laid it out. Call it the Trinity or something else, we see there are 3 who are God, yet God is one. [As for the Son' subservience to the Father, when He took on the flesh, it was the form of a servant, made a little lower than the angels. We already saw how He created all things and existed before Abraham as the I AM. As a man He was subservient to God but now His name is lifted up above every other name and once again shares in the Father's glory which He had before the incarnation, even before the world was. He chose to limit Himself. God is a spirit and so Jesus is God, yet took on flesh, making Him a man; not losing His divinity but adding humanity (John 1:1-14, John 17:5, Galatians 4:4, Philippians 2:5-8, Hebrews 2:7-8, Hebrews 4:14-15)] For any clarification or any verses that you find to be contrary to these I would love to dialogue more about it!

Scripture tells us that Jesus was given all authority by the father. If Jesus was equal to the father, then he really wasn’t given anything and the scripture and reward thereof is meaningless. Seriously pray on it and the answer will become clear. Peace

Eric, you have started a firestorm here, lol... I have been sitting here for several hours reading through the comments on your video and I can totally see the group think mentality. It's either "I agree, Trinity BAD, great job" or "your stupid, Trinity true, go read these verses" or "you're one of the too learned and can't understand, but go look at these verses". I shouldn't be so surprised, 99% of people that call themselves Christian only follow the group that they believe to be true and can only see what scripture says through the lens of the group that they follow or previously followed if they are lucky enough to break away. So, I thought I would tell you why/how I believe that God is a trinity. Rose accused me of just being brainwashed, but I was never really taught the trinity, it was just assumed that you knew Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God so therefore the Trinity is true. Mind you that I was not a Christian at this point but I claimed to be at 18. I would just spout the typical verses that say Jesus is God, which I shared with you as well. But about 7 years ago I was seriously challenged on what I believed and started a process of trying to figure out what the Truth is. I started at the beginning with "is there really a God?", got into the science/evolution stuff and figured out that scientist have very good imaginations and try to state as fact a bunch of theories. Started researching where and how the religions got their holy text and figured out that all are just a crock except the Bible and saw that the Bible is really the only one that answers what we see in creation and that Jesus was a real person that started a movement. Studied what different "Christian" religions believe you must do to be saved and the evidence that a person is born again. And after studying 1 John 30 times in a row, I saw that I was not a Christian. I wasn't even in the ballpark. (Don't get me wrong, I wasn't a bad person in comparison to the world. Actually, I was a very good person in comparison to other people. I didn't smoke, drink, cheat, steal, etc. I went to church, I tried to help people, gave money to charities, fixed meals for the homeless, went on mission trips, etc.) But in this process, I started to see (I am attributing this to the Holy Spirit) how bad I really am compared to a holy, righteous, just, loving, jealous, wrathful, etc, etc, etc, god. Even the best of us, that are trying to be good, trying to live a "godly" life have failed so miserably that we should die and pay for every sin that we have committed immediately. And starting to understand verses like Romans 3:10-18 "as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” This is every person that has ever lived Jew and Gentile. I also started to see a pattern in scripture. No person has ever chosen God first, it is always God choosing the person to be His first. There wasn't anything good or special about Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Moses, David, Jesus disciples, or anyone else. What made them special is Jehovah chose to reveal Himself to them and they believed. We love Him because He first loved us. Now come to when I truly saw who Jesus is for the first time and what He did for those that believe. Mind you this is the condensed version, this happened over the course of several weeks but this is the climax. About 3:00 am in my garage, I am in total fear of God because I truly saw how vile I am and fearing the wrath of God coming upon me. I started to cry out, "I'm sorry for being so wicked!!!" over and over again. And then just a calm feeling comes over me and these words come to my head. "I paid it all" and the weight of that burden just left and now I am crying and not sure what just happened and saying to myself. "My God my God, why me, why me, thank you thank you!!!" referring to Jesus. Needless to say, I was an emotional mess but I felt like a new person and from that point on I have been in constant prayer, wanting to study His Word day and night, wanting to tell people about what God had done but more than that wanting to challenge people to make sure they are following the Father, Son and Holy Spirit of the Bible instead of a made-up God they have pieced together from all their years of listening to others and piece mill reading of God's Word. When challenged with who God really is, it is very difficult to answer from either a Non-Trinitarian or a Trinitarian perspective based off what God's Word tells us about each one, but the Trinity doctrine is really the best way to describe Him, in my opinion and yes, I know everyone has one. But if Jesus is a created being, then He wouldn't be that unique because God could have just created another one and if Jesus is created then how would He be able to forgive sin that is committed against God. Only God can forgive sin, that was one thing that the Jews got right. The Jews of Jesus time also knew what Jesus was saying, "He was making Himself equal to God" and that is why they so much wanted to kill Him. So, with that said, I know we can take each verse that claims Jesus to be a god/divine and very easily using eisegesis change its meaning and when we are done, we can deny He really is a god or He may be god like but not really God, or just called a god. But the best advice I ever got was "every verse of scripture means what it means regardless of what you think or want it to mean". So, using exegesis you get the actual meaning based off the context and that is what it means, and yes you always use clear passages to interpret unclear passages. As an example, you were using eisegesis when you tried to explain 1 Peter 3:18-19. You just assumed that the "make alive in the spirit" relates to Jesus’ resurrection because that is the doctrine that you hold to. And you can find people that will back you up on what you believe. But every time, except for 1, the actual word for "resurrection" is used in the NT it is referring to a bodily resurrection, not a spirit resurrection. But coming to conclusions this way gives you false doctrines and may be even a different Jesus, gospel, or spirit that does not save. As you can see, I am big on 2 Cor. 11 but I hate the thought that people that think they are believers will be standing before Jesus on judgement day and Jesus saying "I never knew you, depart from Me...". Let me know if you have any questions or concerns of my conclusions.

Those who deny the TRINITY have no idea what we believe. In conversations with JWS and others, they always tells that we believe in three GOD and are polytheistic. Then, in the same breath, tell me how JESUS is a god (John 1 : 1 NWT). They claim to be experts in Greek, yet have never heard it spoken or taken a class. They also ignore the verses that clearly say that the HOLY SPIRIT and CHRIST participate in creation with the FATHER. One person had the audacity to say that the epistles of St. Paul don't belong in the New Testament even though St. John and St. Mathew both said that JESUS is GOD. Crazy.

Read a Bible that is not a New World Translation. The problem is you was indoctrinated by Watchtower theology. It's funny how the NWT have had to add the English word OTHER to colossians 2:9 so according to the Watchtower Jesus created all (OTHER) things. I wonder what Jehovah allowed Jesus to create 🤔 If you look in the NWT at John 8:58 its translated Before Abraham was I have been 🤔 been were? The Watchtower Greek interliner even translates Before Abraham was I am. So why did Nathan H Knowe write in the NWT I have been? It doesn't make sense. Of course the JW organisation know only to well what both those verses imply 😁 this is why they had to change them. Then we have the NWT John1:1 and the word was a god that also had to be changed because the Watchtower was happy with the word was God. Very crafy 😁 but then, Satan is a master deceiver the Devil doesn't want you to know the REAL TRUTH.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is unpardonable because it's the Holy Spirit who administrators the Glorious Richies that are achieved by the death of Jesus Christ in the life of the Believer...from the regeneration, teaching, sanctification to the glorification of the Believer. It's all the work of the Holy Spirit. But this doesn't mean that they are the Three Persons are not equal in form...it just means that they have different roles.

The Trinity doctrine isn't entirely correct. But bible readers have for centuries observed in scripture, a unity among the ( father, son & holyspirit).. The bible clearly teaches that Jesus has the same nature as the father.. Phillipians 2: 5-7. The Holyspirit is a person, not an impersonal force.. The father often spoke to men through Jesus. Genesis 15: 1-5 Jesus is the (Word of God) or chief spokes person. Men addressed him Jesus as God as seen in Genesis 15. Jesus explains that his father is greater than him, and this is true. However the father can exercise his rulership directly through the son.. Philippians 2:10-11 [10]That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11]And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Worship to Jesus brings Glory to the Father.. Even the angels bow down to the son..So we see a unity among the three. Jesus is worthy of such, that's why the father his given him " all authority ".. That why Jesus was described as assuming a grandiose name as (Mighty God). Who is he presently a Might God over..

The interpretations that give way to the trinity doctrine depend greatly on defining what is meant by “person” or “godhead”. But the Scriptures are unique in declaring that even if many gods were to exist, which to some extent they may, the truth is that YHWH is One, not just one of many gods, not just one as if the first god, not just one as if part of a group of more, but YHWH is One incomparably unique eternally. The nature of YHWH is incomparable and beyond created reality.

Hello Eric, Thank you so much for the time and care that went into producing this video. It's helpful to have your objections to the doctrine of the trinity laid out so carefully. I'd like to respond to a few of the points that you made: First, you made the claim that those who believe in the doctrine of the trinity do so out of a kind of intellectual pride. I felt that the rest of the points that you made could have been made without opening up on this kind of statement. This an ad hominem approach and commits the genetic fallacy. Also, we cannot really know what people's motivations are for making certain kinds of truth claims, only that at times they can seem to be prideful from our perspective. That can easily be mistaken. Furthermore you reference Matthew 11:25-27. Jesus says that "these things" had been revealed to children. What things? Was Jesus referring to God's ontological nature? No. Through his role as the Messiah he was revealing what the Father was like. In context, "these things" refers to events that took place prior to this verse in the Book of Matthew and how these events reveal the character of the Father. It takes a childlike disposition to be instructed by Christ. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that one must remain a child in their mental powers. After all, you are quite intelligent yourself. Your own intellectual prowess doesn't mean that you no longer have child like humility. The apostle Paul was no intellectual pushover himself and many things in his letters were hard to understand, even for the original recipients. (2 Peter 3:16) Does the complicated nature of Paul's writings indicate that he was motivated out of pride? Or rather that he didn't want his audience to remain young children in their reasoning skills? You also say that this issue of the doctrine of the trinity determines whether someone can receive everlasting life. You refer to John 17:3. Yet, this verse does not refer to taking in knowledge of God, as in a series of propositional claims about the nature of God or of his purposes. Rather, it relates to knowing God in a relational sense. After all, a severely mentally handicapped person could know God in a relational sense, but might be unable to take in propositional knowledge of God's nature. For instance I could know you, Eric Wilson, without having to know anything about biology or every detail of your history. I wouldn't need to be able to make certain kinds of ontological claims about your existence or to be able to describe you in those terms to be able to know you by having a relationship with you. A dog can know her master or a little baby can know her mother without understanding their nature. Jesus is saying that we can only have a real relationship with the one true God by also having a relationship with Jesus Christ. The criteria for salvation is not having a series of propositional truth claims in your head. Rather, it is putting your ultimate trust in Jesus Christ and living according to that real trust. Amazingly, you have damned to destruction those who do that, who have also come to a different conclusion about the nature of God. I certainly don't think your salvation depends on being able to describe God's ontological nature correctly. The ontological and the economic models of the trinity are never played against each other the way that you have in this video. The reason for this is because they are non-overlapping descriptions of the reality of God. For instance, I could describe the biological makeup of every member of a three-person family. And then I could go on to describe what every person in that family does; what kind of roles they play within the family. Those two descriptions do not cut against each other. Rather they offer a complete description. For instance I could say that a husband and wife are equal in their intellectual capabilities and are equal because they are both humans. I wouldn't say that the husband and wife having different roles would be a result of the fact that they do not have an equal nature. Aren't husband and wife both equally human? Of course, the example of a three-person family is only an analogy. It is not synonymous with a trinitarian model of God. Some may experience social pressure to accept the doctrine of the trinity. When there is group consensus, this can be the case and it is unfortunate. The vast majority of Christians accept the doctrine of the trinity. This could be because of social pressure or it could be that they have simply come to a different conclusion than you. Or perhaps it could be that these hundreds of millions of Christians are intellectually prideful as you suggest. However that's just not been my experience. And many report not feeling pressure to accept the trinity from their Church. (Edit: When you said that Socinianists or Biblical Unitarians were anti-christs, does that count as social pressure?)

Trinity wasn’t debate between Mesianic Jews like apostle Paul or Peter, or other Jesus followers. We all know when at the point of history the doctrine of trinity was introduced, when the all Jew line of scriptural understanding and the Jews believers was wiped out from Constantine’s new Christianity. You like it or not, is still a man made doctrine approved in three big waves along times! O, and by the way, there was murders comited by rejecting the Trinity! Simply told, this is a debate only for late theologians, not a debate in the Bible.

Another example of many to the Romans: "Ignatius, who is also called Theophorus, to the Church which has obtained mercy, through the majesty of the Most High Father, and Jesus Christ, His only-begotten Son; the Church which is beloved and enlightened by the will of Him that willeth all things which are according to the love of Jesus Christ our God, which also presides in the place of the region of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honour, worthy of the highest happiness, worthy of praise, worthy of obtaining her every desire, worthy of being deemed holy, and which presides over love, is named from Christ, and from the Father, which I also salute in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father: to those who are united, both according to the flesh and spirit, to every one of His commandments; who are filled inseparably with the grace of God, and are purified from every strange taint, [I wish] abundance of happiness unblameably, in Jesus Christ our God." In his letter to Polycarp, who was discipled by John, he writes: "Be ever becoming more zealous than what thou art. Weigh carefully the times. Look for Him who is above all time, eternal and invisible, yet who became visible for our sakes; impalpable and impassible, yet who became passible on our account; and who in every kind of way suffered for our sakes." Ignatius takes it for granted that his audience would believe the same things he wrote. Polycarp, writing to the Phillippians says: "Now may the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the eternal High-priest Himself the Son of God Jesus Christ, build you up in faith and truth, and in all gentleness and in all avoidance of wrath and in forbearance and long-suffering and in patient endurance and in purity; and may He grant unto you a lot and portion among His saints, and to us with you, and to all that are under heaven, who shall believe on our Lord and God Jesus Christ and on His Father that raised him from the dead,” Defending what he assumed was the basic beliefs of all Christians, Aristides of Athens writes: "The Christians, then, trace the beginning of their religion from Jesus the Messiah; and he is named the Son of God Most High. And it is said that God came down from heaven, and from a Hebrew virgin assumed and clothed himself with flesh; and the Son of God lived in a daughter of man." Justin Martyr, who was taught Christianity in Palestine, writes around A.D. 150, in his first apology: "The Father of the universe has a Son, who also being the first begotten Word of God, is even God." Writing around the same time in his dialogue with Trypho, he writes: "For if you had understood what has been written by the prophets, you would not have denied that He was God, Son of the only, unbegotten, unutterable God. For Moses says somewhere in Exodus the following: `The Lord spake to Moses, and said to him, I am the Lord, and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, being their God; and my name I revealed not to them, and I established my covenant with them.' And thus again he says, `A man wrestled with Jacob,' and asserts it was God; narrating that Jacob said, `I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.'" There are a number of other quotes I could borrow from. All of the writers I mentioned were within one or two generations of the apostles and write within a largely Jewish context. Also, every one of these men were martyred for their belief in Christianity. If these men were trying to escape persecution and bent their beliefs to fit common opinion, they failed badly. Furthermore, if people actually understand Roman pagan beliefs, you aren't going to be able to find a way the deity of Christ would fit into a pagan mold, much less a trinitarian model. /// Yes. Trinitarians at various points in church history persecuted non-trinitarians. At other points of church history, arians persecuted trinitarians. For most of church history, trinitarians persecuted other trinitarians. There is nothing about claiming to believe in a certain doctrine or being able to articulate it that makes you a genuine Christian.

So just to follow up on my previous post. I agree with your statement 100% about the spirit of God has to guide us in the truth and that both me as a Trinitary and you as a Non-Trinitary are not guided by the same spirit and hence we come to different conclusions on the nature of God. One of us is a heretic that will not inherit eternal life at worse or a Christian that is misguided at best. So let me start by discussing the Carm article 25:55 that you sited. The purpose of the article is to show us that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all different persons because they have different roles and functions, not that the three are equal as God. Unless you accept that scripture teaches that all three are called God and there is no such thing as a created god or a lesser god, then you will not make heads or tails of the article. The ending statement "Without these distinctions, there can’t be any distinctions between the persons of the Trinity and if there are no distinctions, there is no Trinity." in which you responded with "huh, I would look at all those distinction to prove there isn't a trinity because they prove the three are not equal at all"... To which I say you missed the whole point of the article. They could have worded it better but it is still correct. Without us being able to know the distinct roles and functions of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we would not know that there is three persons that make up the Godhead. So your story about being a murderer really doesn't apply at all. You are setting up an argument to defend your take away of the article that doesn't fit. You are correct when you say that when we read the Bible and we see passages that the Father does this, or the Son does that, or the Holy Spirit does this we are not lead into believing that God is a trinity but we should take away that the Father does this, and the Son does that, and the Holy Spirit does this. And when we read passages that the Father is God, and the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God then we should question what is going on here. I remember reading Genesis 1 before I was a Christian and thinking "what the h-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks is this. These stupid people don't even know how to use pronouns properly.". But the nature of God is laid out for us in the very first chapter of the Bible but I didn't understand it till I had that Thomas moment that I spoke of before, when I was actually born from above. My response to your response to Kent Hovind's debate is again you are comparing Jesus the man to God and that doesn't work. Jesus as man was limited by time just as we are, He got hungry just as we do, He got tired and needed to sleep as we do, He grew in stature and knowledge just as we do, He died on the cross and His body was in the tomb for three days, so on and so forth but as God Jesus was preaching to the spirits in prison for three days. As man Jesus had every limitation/weakness that we have yet without sin and I am afraid that is where your understanding of the nature of God Father/Son/Holy Spirit breaks down and I have to conclude that you have a different spirit guiding you than I have guiding me. You seem like a smart reasonable guy that is truly searching for the truth of God and I am praying you find it. My email is mullisben@gmail.com if you would like to converse in more detail. Thanks for all you hard work on the videos.

First of all, thank you for commenting on the video. Every other trinitarian to date--EVERY OTHER TRINITARIAN--has avoided any comment on the reasoning presented in the video and just fallen into the same old pattern of making bald assertions and quoting tired "proof texts". You have not done that, and I thank you for it. However, you are making assertions of your own, so I list three below and ask you for Bible proof. Please prove the following statements. "there is no such thing as a created god or a lesser god" "but as God Jesus was preaching to the spirits in prison for three days" Prove not that he preached to the spirits in prison, because I accept that, but that he did it during those three days prior to his resurrection. Also, prove that the differences in their roles is evidence they are one being.

@@BeroeanPickets "there is no such thing as a created god or a lesser god" Jehovah says over and over in His Word that there is no other god but Him, none formed before Him and none after Him (Isa 43:10). So either Jehovah was either lying or all other gods are false gods and just called a god (like Satan or the Jewish priest) but not a real god by nature, but that doesn't apply to Jesus. By nature Jesus is a legitimate god (Isa 9:6, Col 2:9, John 1:1-18, Heb 1, etc, etc, etc...) "but as God Jesus was preaching to the spirits in prison for three days" I should not have said "for three days" because the Bible doesn't tell us how long He was there, but according to 1 Peter 3:18-19 Jesus body was dead and in the tomb but He was alive in the spirit and He went to preach/proclaim His victory over sin to the spirits in prison. We also know that He was in paradise the day of of His death (Luke 23:42-43) and according to Jesus He resurrected His own body (John 2:19-22). Hard to be dead and raise yourself at the same time, sounds like an act of God. "Also, prove that the differences in their roles is evidence they are one being." The differences in roles do not prove they are one being, they prove that they are different persons because each has different functions in the roles of creation/salvation/sanctification/etc,etc,etc. I'm sure you have heard this hundreds of times, but all the verses that refer to each being God (verses listed above), all the verses that have the same names/titles applied to more than one (King of Glory, First and Last, Alpha and Omega, the I AM, Lord of Host, Shepherd, only Creator, only Savior, only Redeemer, on and on), verses where the son is equal to God but was willing to place himself under restrictions to become a man so He could die (Phil 2:5-8), verses where Jehovah says He will not give His glory to no-one (Isa 48:11) and yet the Father is glorifying the Son before and after creation (John 17:1,5), when Isaiah says he saw the glory of Jehovah in the temple (Isa 6:1-3) and Jesus says Isaiah saw His (Jesus') glory in the temple (John 12:41 please read the context), in the announcement of Jesus' birth He was to be called Emmanuel which means "God with us" (Isa 7:14 & Matt 1:23) not a representative of God or God like but God Himself with us, and I could keep going but you get the picture. This is why they are one being, one nature, one God but not the same persons. Hope this helps...

@@DoctrinesOfGrace Thank you, Ben. There is something you are overlooking in your reasoning on Isaiah 43:10, but I won't get into that here since the next video will deal with that in detail. Next you say: "Jesus body was dead and in the tomb but He was alive in the spirit". That isn't actually accurate, is it? That makes it sound like his human body died, but his spirit kept living, but that isn't what Peter tells us happened, is it? "because Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, so that He might bring you to God, having been put to death indeed in the flesh, but having been made alive in the spirit, in which also having gone, He preached to the spirits in prison. (1 Peter 3:18, 19 BLB) He died as a man, but was made alive or was resurrected back to life, but not as a man, but as a spirit. If he was God, then God died and God was resurrected or made alive. Luke 23:42-43 is not the proof you claim it to be. There are three ways of reading that, all valid when taken by themselves. An ambiguous scripture cannot serve as proof. The same applies for John 2:19-22 which can mean he resurrected his body, or he raised up a body for himself in the same way that the angels who visited Abraham took on the flesh to manifest themselves to humans. You write: Also, prove that the differences in their roles is evidence they are one being." The differences in roles do not prove they are one being, they prove that they are different persons because each has different functions in the roles of creation/salvation/sanctification/etc,etc,etc. Yes, but the CARM article argues that the difference of their roles prove they are a trinity. I'll get into all the other proof texts in the fullness of time, God willing.

@@BeroeanPickets Isa 43:10 - I am very interested in what you have to say about it, because it is about as straight forward as it gets, unless you think that Jehovah was only speaking about man made idols/gods, but that is not what He says. So we'll see. You said "He died as a man, but was made alive or was resurrected back to life, but not as a man, but as a spirit. If he was God, then God died and God was resurrected or made alive." You are assuming that "zoopieo" means to come back to life/resurrected, which is framing the argument to support your position. The definition is to make alive or to keep alive but the context is speaking about the death of His flesh not death of His spirit. Jesus as God was separated from the Father while He was taking God's wrath for sin. This is when He cried out “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” And right before His flesh died He said “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!”. Nothing about His spirit dying or going out of existence. He was immediately in the presence of the Father, which supports what Luke 23:42-43 says. And the "made alive" is when sin was paid for and "It is finished". No longer separated from the Father but the body was dead. Also want to touch on "John 2:19-22 which can mean he resurrected his body, or he raised up a body for himself in the same way that the angels who visited Abraham took on the flesh to manifest themselves to humans." I can not in any form accept your 2nd interpretation, because if Jesus did not have the same body then He did not defeat death and that would be a different gospel. And by the way, there were two angels and Jehovah Himself that visited Abraham. I love that God Himself came and was eating and drinking and conversing with him and Sara directly. I enjoy your videos, you can make a person think which is a good thing.

@@DoctrinesOfGrace @Ben Mullis Since you believe the spirit is a living entity, then you interpret Jesus words to mean he was returning to God, even though he didn't return to God for another 43 days. But that means you believe in the immortal soul, so that is a whole other teaching. If there is no immortal soul, then we have to interpret the meaning of Jesus last words in the light of that fact and that changes everything. So Luke 23:42, 43 cannot be proof of your argument, because we haven't yet established whether the soul is immortal. Likewise, your interpretation of John 2:19-22 and 1 Peter 3:18, 19 differs from mine based on our different beliefs in the mortal/immortal soul. So we have ambiguous scriptures which do not prove either interpretation and have to go outside those verses into a discussion of the soul's mortality/immortality to resolve the ambiguity. As for Jehovah visiting Abraham, we have to resolve that with the scriptures that teach us that no man has seen God at any time. Thank you for watching the videos. I've enjoyed the exchange of views.

Very good video Eric. In my personal view, the Trinity is only one post biblical teaching that attempts to harmonize apparent contradictory statements in the Bible. Since I believe there is another way to harmonize the data, I don’t agree with it. That being said, I do know there are many that sincerely believe it. I feel it is not my place to judge their standing with God because I disagree with their understanding of the nature of God much in the same way I feel it would not be my place to judge witnesses that sincerely believe Watchtower is God’s organization. Should we discuss scripture in an effort to determine what is truth? Absolutely! But when I hear one person say that another person is condemned by God because they do not accept what they believe is true makes me very uncomfortable. (Rom. 14:12)

Mark, you are the one embracing an intellectual formula.. The scripture saying God would hide the truth from the intellectual one and reveal it to babes is indeed true. But even a babe can put a jigsaw puzzle together.. You embrace the Society's stand that Jesus is a god but evidently a lesser God than Jehovah. Isaiah 44:6 says (and this is Jehovah speaking, ") I am the first and the last. Apart from me, there is no God." Of course, John 1:1 says the Word was with God. And the word was God." And then you read Rev.1:17 when it definitely refers to Jesus as the first and the last, the conclusion is inescapable. Jesus is God. A part of God. I have a lot of respect for you Mark. You are a very intelligent man. But please put all the pieces together. I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. But even as a child (and here the" babe" metaphor kicks in) I thought there was definitely something wrong with the Society's doctrine. How could Christians adopt the trinity for 2000 years and suddenly the Jehovah's Witnesses come along and say the idea was pagan and Christians (some of whom were martyred and suffered agonizing deaths) be wrong. I just don't buy that God would allow a false idea of him exist for that long and allow people who wholeheartedly believed in him and loved him suffer like that. .I just don't believe it. And after reading the Bible apart from the Watchtower, I frankly, I believe the trinity doctrine sound.

Dear brother Eric, I once also struggled with the trinity doctrine. It took a while for me understanding what it meant. I personally like the explainations of Dr. Michael Heiser on the topic when he shows how the Old Testament already introduces the trinitarian Godhead thinking. Maybe you find his videos helpful for an explaination why many Christians believe in the trinity. Just search for "Michael Heiser trinity" here and you will find some longer videos but also 3 or 4 shorter ones which may already provide a glimpse into the topic. What was quite intriguing for me about it was the point that if there is a trinity, then Jesus is God in human form, being fully human which means that God offered up himself as a sacrifice for our sins to make atonement. This I believe even increased my love for God and the appreciation of his love for us. He provided himself and did not merely send another (substitutable) creature. Greetings of brotherly love from Gernany, may God bless you Thomas

My question to anyone that believes it is, How is possible to sin against the Father, and been forgive, sin against the son,and been forgive, but sin against the Holy spirit and never be forgive? What happened to equality?

The Trinity doctrine is indeed woven through out the whole of Scripture. Hinted many times in the Old Testament but then clearly revealed in the New Testament...its God alone revealing who He is in His glorious work of the redemption of mankind...indeed Christ is the God/Man dying for our Sins to the glory of His Father.

I do have a honest question I would like to hear your thought on. I have the same view of the Trinity as being overly complex and not faith based but intellectual mystical stuff. What I am left with is how should I view Christ? To my eye, he is worshiped in the bible, he created me, and he is the image of God, what else do I need to call him my God, and if I do, how do I rectify that with the oneness of the father? I have no trouble removing the Holy Spirit from the equation because that is simple as you say in scripture. I also can plainly see how a father is above a son, a father came first, a father is given honor by a son, it is a very simple analogy that God used and I do see it. It is only when it comes to Christs relation to being my Lord and my God that I get confused, it seems to be very simple on it's own. Can we worship Christ Jesus without having to make him equal to God, or is that worshiping two Gods? Sorry for the novel lol.

Hi Eric!! Thanks for the video and explanation. Perhaps you wouldn't mind clarifying this issue I have: Although I have studied and read the Bible for many years, being imperfect (any many other reasons), well, there is a lot to know. We (all of us) will never understand everything about God, Jesus, creation and and who knows how long it will take for us to understand what the Apostles meant when they penned their books ("add no further burden to you, etc.). That being said, your comment(s), "asking whether you can be considered a true Christian if you knowingly believe a false doctrine"....what if you believe something that is false but believe it sincerely? We can use the trinity for example, or, say the cross vs torture stake (even something "simple" as that can be complicated), if there should be an "a" in John 1:1, or, what I struggle with the most is "approaching God/Jehovah"...(through Jesus' name..as a mediator, etc., as I do not want to insult God by approaching him incorrectly). I came to the conclusion that I am going to continue to study and do the best I can (to be obedient and "do the will of God")...and if I get something wrong (either due to misunderstanding, not time to study it thoroughly, etc.) ...hopefully Jehovah will extend mercy and Jesus will have compassion on my soul during judgment. I don't know...hopefully Jehovah and Jesus will understand my limited capability and to "consider me to be a true Christian if I believe (or get wrong) a doctrine". THANK YOU....again!!

Hi WJ, We mustn't forget the role of the spirit in leading us into the truth. We all get things wrong, but if the spirit is alive in us, we will be led to truth eventually. If we resist the spirit, we will remain in error.

I would like to make a small contribution by use of a question and an opinion; QUESTION: What if the Jews already believed in Two Powers in the first century and that is why it's not a problem for Christian Jews to accept that Jesus was God. John states, as we all know, in the first chapter of John that the Word was God and was made flesh. He would have had some kind of reason for making such a statement. OPINION: In the OT, book of Genesis, look for when YHWH talks to YHWH or when YHWH appeared to Abraham in Genesis 18 - 19, and pay close attention to 19:24. All through the OT there are instances of YHWH (LORD) speaking to YHWH (LORD) or God to God Ps 45:6-7. So having two YHWHs isn't something new for the Jews. This is just a thought for others to ponder on.

If the Jews already believed that there were 2 God Beings, they wouldn't have looked at Jesus like He was crazy when He revealed to them that He was the OT God and that no one except Himself knew of the Father's existence. The Jews might have had the scriptures, but they did not believe them.

Here is the Full chapter from a fictional book I wrote back in 2018. (not published yet) Please Let me know your thoughts....and I agree with you on Hovind... Chapter 16- Dawn of the Universe Ama-lya started by teaching me the ABCs of 1,2,3, by using an apple to illustrate her lesson. She explained that once a person grasps the meaning of 1-2-3, then a person can see the universe. Her first lesson started with “ONE”. She took an apple, and polished it with a towel, and as she paced back and forth in the kitchen, she began to tell the story of the ancient Druid’s belief, and it went like this. “Imagine” she says, “that in the beginning of time for our universe, the God-energy was all in this apple in my hand. God, who by the way, is neither he nor she, but God, is the Creator of ALL. With all of Gods energy in the apple, there is no other existence, no lights, no stars, no planets. God wanted to share the power and the experience one day, but to do this, He knew that the apple had to be divided internally into 2 equal pieces equal in stature and in power, but completely opposite poles of energies. To accomplish this task of giving up of self, this became the first act of LOVE ever. God soon realized that two is better than one, for if it were only God alone, then how could He alone experience, share and love these wonderful ideas and achievements? Divided in half, God could share and rejoice together with the other half, the “TWO”. They could plan, develop, and share success and failures, together. Everything is still dark in the universe, so they would work together within, designing and fabricating something wonderful together, something bright. It became evident, that to carry out their plans for a universe and other life forms, both the “One” and the “Two”, required a “Three”. They would each have to give up half of their remaining power to create the “Three”. From these three numbers, all other numbers are formed in life!” She explains by scratching these simple grade-1 equations into the sand; (1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+2=4, 3+2+1=5, 3+3=6, 3+2+2=7, or 1+3+3=7). “Seven has multiple pathways, (3+3+2=8, 3+3+3=9), and 9 is the sum of the highest combination of 3. Ama-lya says the information is given in small doses; so, the student can absorb and build up a new understanding of life. She of course already knew that I was saturated with numbers.” She reaffirms, “all we must do is grasp the meaning behind the first three numbers, 1-2-3, and this will all become clearer, real soon, please follow along and we will share this apple together.” After a bit of a rest, she continues, “the ‘THIRD’ piece of the apple became necessary to reproduce these thoughts and designs within, so the core of the apple was built internally, and then later it was spread among the universe, the Love designed between the ‘one’ and the ‘two’ became what you and I are a part of, the ‘THREE’.” Then she breaks open the apple with the opposing force of each hand, and then the seeds, suddenly scatter throughout the room, and she laughs and sits on my lap and we both eat the apple together. She says, “I will eat the ‘one’ half and you can have the ‘two’ halve.” She explains how their way is not much different than many of the traditional beliefs; like in the bible, the holy spirit is everywhere, and it is the ‘three’ parts of the ‘one’ of God. All things come from God the ‘One’ and from there we get ‘Two’. The ‘Two’ is the first act of sharing. The ‘One’ in the beginning had all the power, but to share the power within, the ‘two’ had to be established with opposite and equal forces. So, then they both could equally push apart. This allowed them together, giving birth to the universe. These seeds were then seeded across the cosmos, and over time we became part of this unique field of living beings. Now she looks at me and says, “how did I do, did I get the saying the right way, how you were taught?” I laugh, and quickly reply, “its close enough for the girl I go out with,” and we both scurry off to make deep passionate love, in recognition of this wonderful creation from God and the first act of creation, Love. Later after we both have a short nap and then we go back to the classroom but stay in bed. Ama-lya shows me how all of creation is based on ‘THREE.’ She says, “three is the next number we will study. This number we can fully relate to, especially when ‘one’ is in an intimate relationship with ‘two’. This relationship is so special, it is set for the life of the two energies, and when these opposites combine, they have power to spread similar energies throughout the cosmos, like the seeds of the apple.” She takes my hand and shows me three places on her body that are special and were made as part of God’s love, the love that only can happen with two. This special love can give a special pleasure when together,” she shows me. Ama-lya looks at me and says, “we are both made of God’s Love, and therefore when we become human, we are made in God’s image. It is no wonder that God wanted ‘one’ to share this pleasure of Love with the opposite, ‘two’.”

Jesus is called God with a capital "G" multiple times in the Bible. If the Bible also says He is God, how is he not God? YAH the Father is Spirit. YAH made the world through Jesus and He is YAH only begotten Son.. If a human has a son will it not be another human so If God has a son then...? Of course Jesus became a human for us but according to John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

@@superlav9331 No, Jesus is not called God with a capital "G" multiple times in the Bible. Ancient Greek has no mixed case as we do in English, so it is up to the translator, usually a Trinitarian to put a capital "G" at his discretion. This is not proof of anything. If the President of the United States has a son will he be human. Yes, of course. Well he be president? No, of course not. The angels are also called sons of God in the Bible. Are they God? Excellent video! The Holy Spirit is so important, that blasphemy against Him, is "the unforgivable sin." There are so many things in this world that Jehovah created, that are way beyond our complete compression. There are things that are mysteries, and we need to have faith. It's faith that will keep us growing in Christ, and becoming saved by the blood of our Lord Jesus. Nicodemus, asked Christ how a man can be saved, remember what Jesus told him?
@vintage63462 жыл бұрын
The holy spirit is neither a person nor simply a force. The trinity doctrine is a false teaching, fabricated by man, which contradicts the Bible. Believers in the trinity doctrine describe that teaching as a "mystery", when in fact, it is simply a lie and a carefully contrived false story.

I always appreciate your thinking and gentle demeanor in presenting your views, and applaud your work as a former Jehovah's Witness. I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but a recovering evangelical who has JW relatives, and conversed frequently with JWs over the years. I am a trinitarian basically, but do not ascribe to many of the technicalities that Trinitarian creeds have extrapolated from the Bible (i.e., that Jesus is "begotten, not made," or that all members of the Trinity are "equal" in all the categories listed in the creeds). I try to base it all on biblical support, and specific points of Greek grammar and syntax (I studied NT Greek for three years). And, perhaps surprisingly, I'm not convinced that the Bible will always provide non-contradictory theological points. We religious people would like to believe that it does, and must, but it is the Bible that defines revelation about God. Inerrancy, trinity, predestination, premillenialism, eternal security, etc., are all human dogma, extrapolated from the Bible. We often embrace texts that support our pre-existing viewpoint, but ignore or re-interpret any text that seems to contradict it. It's as if Bible verses on a particular dogma are like dots that we connect together to complete the doctrinal "picture." The problem, is that we end up with different pictures due to different methods of connecting the dots. While I believe in the "trinity," I don't believe it is essential for saving faith. The Bible speaks of Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God, the savior of the world. Believing in his sacrificial death that atones for all our sins when we commit ourselves in faith to his lordship, and that he rose bodily from the dead, to reconcile us with the Father, is what is essential for salvation. No mention of a trinity. So……do think it's possible for two believers in Christ, who differ on the Trinity, to both be true Christians? I do. I consider you my brother in Christ. Nowhere do I find in the Bible, "By this all men will know you are my disciples, that you believe in the trinity."

@servantofthemosthigh6257 - Father represents his relationship to his children. It is not a title. We pray to our Father not to his essense (whatever that might be). "Spirit" is a catch-all term for that which we cannot see nor understand. Remember that in Greek holy spirit is really rendered the holy breath.
@servantofthemosthigh6257 Жыл бұрын
@@BeroeanPickets Shalom, Since The Most High has a Begotten Son, He obtains the "title" Father. Since The Most High is the source of all life (including that of His Son), He obtains the "title" Father of all spirits (Hebrews 22:9) because all have spirits within. When you had offspring, you obtained the "title" Dad. So again, Father is a "Title" and one specifically reserved for The Most High (Matthew 23:9-11). The Most High has a name within the scriptures, and additionally, I know of no man ( which The Most High is not) that has the ability to be omnipresent, only The Most High unbound "Spirit" (John 4:24). Ponder, A man without a Spirit is a corpse, like Adam before having the breath (Spirit) of life imparted to Him. Even Christ alluded to the truth that spirit hath not flesh and bones as you see me have (Luke 24:39). Spirit by definition is the invisible force within an organism that brings forth life / animation. Summary: It's the story of our Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Invisible Spirit Father who chose before anything else to have a physical Son in whom He empowered to create the heavens and earth. As for your comment on the Holy Spirit: Again, Spirit / breath is a "force or energy that brings about life. As for the word holy, it means "Set-Apart for a special purpose". Thus The Holy Spirit is The Intelligent Set-Apart Force who exists throughout creation and is unfathomable to us as mortal beings to comprehend (i.e The Father) unless revealed to us by His Son (Matthew 11:27). Hi Susan, I'll explain the seeming paradox of God not sharing his glory with another in a future video. Matthew 28:19 is likely spurious. There is no baptism recorded in the new testament where anyone invokes all three. All baptisms are made in the name of Jesus only. At John 1:1 and Isaiah 6:9 the Bible indicates that Jesus is a god.

Like you so wonderfully explained, only those who are indwelled with the Holy Spirit know who God really is. We fuss over the unimportant things rather than focus on the Truth. Jesus is our only Focus. God told us, through his words that we must Believe in Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross to have Salvation. God doesn't want his children to argue over things for which he left no obvious instructions (i.e., The Trinity) to debate. Satan tries to distract us all the time, 24/7. Great video Eric.

@@connor9700 You're correct. Those words do not appear in the Bible. There are no major arguments over the Attributes of God. We are talking about the concept of Trinity. There are questions for which we will never have the agreed upon answers in this lifetime. Remember John in Revelation was told not to write down certain things he heard. He was told to seal up the book. There will be unanswered questions until the end. The Gospel, which is so simple a child could understand has been adulterated by many denominations. As the Body of Christ/The Church we should all be on the same page (so-to-speak). The Trinity doctrine (so-called) has been used to sow division amongst some Christians. @@connor9700 Please show me where the term Trinity was first mentioned, in ancient manuscripts translated to our current Bible. Just because the "Idea" of the Trinity was taught for 1900 yrs doesn't make it true. The Catholic Church has been teaching Blasphemous doctrines for longer time than most organized religions. The office of the pope comes to mind. The Emperor Constantine convened the Nicaea Council in 325 where the Trinity concept was codified. So the idea of the Trinity doctrine was not always taught. Why would i look at an encyclopedias definition of Trinity, i know you were in the WT organization for a long time, but this is a tactic used by them. "See what it says here, these people believe what i do, so it must be true.. not a very logical move imo. I have only skimmed through all your Trinity videos, trying to watch them again, (as difficult as it is) to come up with some good questions for you from scripture. Ill be back..take care and God bless. There are many passages i could show you now, but i want to see and hear if you have covered them in other videos..before I say anymore. I will say this after listening to most of this video, a believer does not need to use the word Trinity, kind of a strawman argument, just because Tertullian coined the phrase in the second century does not make it a necessary explanation of God's nature, and not something a bible believing Christian needs to use. Simply knowing that in Isaiah 44:24, God created all things all by Himself the bible says likewise in Isaiah 48:12,13 , but yet in John 1:3 it says Jesus created ALL things. Colossians also Paul makes the same claim Colossians 1:16,18 that Jesus created all things...who is the US in Genesis 1:26? and similar verses where the writer says Let US make man in our image i could go on. But you get the point, either the bible is contradictory or the Father,Son and the Holy Spirit are the one God..and in answer to one of your questions, Phillipians 2,explains why there is the apparent lack of equality, Jesus "emptied Himself and became a servant so He could shed His blood for us . Hebrews explains it as He was made a little lower than the angels. He receives Worship, has a name that is above every name..forgives sin, is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last the beginning and the end,,all titles YHWH also applies to Himself. On and on i could go, all biblical text and never did i say Trinity

I'm not denying that "the Word" created all things, but if he is God Almighty, then all things were created "by God Almighty, for God Almighty, and through God Almighty". That last part doesn't quite work, does it? I might make something by myself, and for myself, but I can't make it through myself. "Through" indicates someone on either side. Why do you have a proble, with Jesus being a god, divine, but subservient in all things to the Father who is God Almighty? Genesis 1:26 fits nicely with this understanding. There is no contradiction here. You say that "Philippians 2:6 explains why there is the APPARENT lack of equality". APPARENT?? I see nothing apparent there. That sounds like WT interpretation. How can God Almighty give no thought to seizing (from the Greek word) equality with himself? That's nonsensical. When I stopped trying to defend the unscriptural theology of my former religion, I found the freedom of the Christ. I urge you to do the same, to stop defending false religious beliefs and study the Bible free from the bias that church leaders burdened you with so that you'd follow and support them. JW, Cathoic, Protestant, are all branches of the same tree, manmade religion.

There are several things that I could review in your analysis of the doctrine of the trinity and I understand that depending on how a person frames an argument we can defend or disprove a position. That is why JWs can have some success in convincing people that they are correct because they frame the argument in a way that they can defend. Same for most that call themselves Trinitarians. The sleight of hand trick as you pointed out. With that said, I see the biggest problem in your argument is you are not comparing Jesus as god to God, but you are comparing Jesus as man to God and with that type of comparison you will always disprove the trinity. Jesus is the only one that has two natures, one as God and one as man. He was 100% God before and after the incarnation, but He became 100% man. If He didn't He would not have been able to die for our sins because God can't die and God can't be tempted as we are but in order for Jesus to have authority to forgive sin He also had to be 100% God because every sin is against God. Jesus as a man had to have a God, just as we do. Jesus as a man had to rely 100% on God, just as we do. Jesus as a man could do nothing good without God, just as we can not. Jesus as God didn't die on the cross but Jesus as man did. Jesus the man laid in the tomb 3 days but Jesus as God was preaching to the spirts in prison for 3 days. You can't truly understand who God is (trinity if you want) until He reveals Himself and you have that Thomas moment when we are confronted with who we truly are before a Holy God (doubting sinners) with the true savior of the world (Jesus the God man) and we cry out "My Lord and my God!" and the Holy Spirit indwells in us... So simple that a child can understand but so difficult that learned people will argue about for overlapping generations.... I will explain in more detail in my next post.

Man has an inherent desire to fill his spiritual need. Some people totally reject this desire and pursue other goals and some have to fill it with something. Some want the truth and some want a fanciful mystery to tickle their ears. Understanding a mystery others don’t get fulfills them. This desire is like a magnet and can attract many things. God sees us and attracts those he wants. Others are filled and go on their way. Like The Bible said if you know him you won’t be anxious over these debates. Jesus said he will be petitioned by many and he will say get away from me you workers of lawlessness I never knew you. Apparently they didn’t take in knowledge of the true God and the one he sent forth. You never knew him. Matt 7: 21 shows they really believed in what they say. But when the wheat and the weeds Christians are separated it will be what this magnet collected and stuck. We will all be responsible for ourselves.

Trinitarians do believe that the three different persons in the Godhead is equal in ontology (equally powerful, eternal etc.). But - and this is very important - they do not believe that they are equal in hierarchy. A good illustration would be the queen of Denmark. Both the queen and I am equal in ontology (we both have the same value as human beings) but we don't have the same equality within the hierarchy of the nation of Denmark. The same with marriage: The man and woman becomes one - litterally one flesh - in marriage while being unequal within the hierarchy of the marriage (since the man is above the woman within the marriage hierarchal speaking). This is a very important distinction to have in mind.

@SilentProphecy6 ай бұрын
@pearlytiger564 John 1:1 is already explained as a mistranslation. Coming from someone with friends who speak Greek as their first language, it's confirmed to be mistranslated. John 1:1 in your Bible states, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." But the proper translation would be, "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was divine." Theos is the Greek word for God but also for a god and also for divine. The key to understanding the mistranslation is through the definitive articles used in it. In John 1:1a, "In the beginning was the Word" or "ho Logos". In John 1:1b, "the Word was with God" or "ho Logos" and "ton Theon". In John 1:1c, "and the Word was divine" or "kai Theos en ho Logos". Notice the lack of a definitive article attached to Theos in John 1:1c? In proper Greek, that turns Theos into an adjective. So God-like. As the man who is teaching states, when the Word is sent by God to enact the will of the Father, the Word becomes like God. A perfect example is Moses in Exodus 7. God tells Moses that He will make Moses God to Pharaoh. Moses wasn't actually God in the flesh. Now this man already covered this verse multiple times throughout his series, so I'm assuming you just haven't watched them. I'd suggest watching them all. But in the end, sometimes there's never enough evidence to change some people's minds. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink. Modern day Christianity has become like a new Pharisees. Highly subjected to Pagan influences over the years. 1600 years of enforcing lies has led much of the Church astray. Christ will correct it when he returns soon.

I never even heard of the Trinity until I was 13, when I met JWs (I became best friends with a JW boy my own age.). When a cousin warned me about JWs, she told me they didn’t believe in the Trinity. My cousin had to explain the doctrine to me. I instinctively knew the JWs were right. The Trinity never made sense to me. I rejected it once I heard about it, even though I was in the Baptist Church.

Good to see another video Eric. I can share some recent research with you on the subject as well. I recently discovered that the Trinity also has connections to Kabbalism (Jewish occultism, which began during or just after the Babylonian exile). A Catholic friend of mine tried to prove the Trinity was a "Jewish concept" and that they always believed in it, but his sources took me to ancient letters which speak of Plato and Aristotle, who had interactions with Hellenised Jews, who had also, according to Aristotle, adopted Indian religious/esoteric practices, and believed all scripture had "hidden esoteric meanings in them". These Jews called it "Mysticism" (because "magic" was illegal in Israel of course). These practices and philosophies, later influenced Greek thought when the Hellenisation occurred, which in turn were passed down to the Gnostics. So by the time of the 2nd century, when Hellenised Jews, Kabbalist Jews, and Greeks converted to Christianity, they took with them their esoteric scriptural traditions, which lead into their paganised concepts of the logos-mind, and the 3 in 1. Today, the Catholic church calls the Trinity "mystery", because they themselves admit, it comes from their branch of "Christian mysticism", which goes back to Jewish Mysticism (Kabbalah, aka occultism).

Friend, one should not build their faith around what they don't understand, that one should say, "I believe this, because I don't believe that!". I build my own faith on the things "which are" within God's Word, and not the things within God's Word that are not for me to understand. God gives us each day our "daily bread", but He gives us what we NEED, and not necessarily everything our eyes take in. Understanding comes from God, and not by the flesh. I will provide you with the Scriptures below: WE ARE NOT BORN WITH SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING, FOR NO FLESH WILL INHERIT GOD'S KINGDOM *Proverbs 4:5 (nkjv)* _5 Get wisdom! Get understanding!_ _Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth._ Where do we get wisdom and understanding? UNDERSTANDING COMES FROM GOD *Proverbs 2:6-8 (nkjv)* _6 For the Lord gives wisdom;_ _From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;_ *Proverbs 9:10 (nkjv)* _10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,_ _And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding._ IN THESE LAST DAYS, GOD SPEAKS THROUGH HIS SON AND NOT THROUGH PROPHETS *Hebrews 1:1-4 (nkjv)* _1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,_ _2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;_ GOD HAS DECLARED ALL THINGS FROM BEGINNING TO END WITHIN HIS WORD *Isaiah 46:9-10 (nkjv)* _9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,_ _10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:_ THOUGH GOD HAS DECLARED IT, NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THESE THINGS FROM BEGINNING TO END *Ecclesiastes **3:11** (nkjv)* _11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end._ Therefore no one understands God's Word from Genesis to Revelation because God's Word works within whom believe, to give us what His Word discerns that we need individually. GOD'S WORD IS NOT JUST A BOOK HAVING HISTORIC AND POETIC VALUE AT MOST. IT IS LIVING AND DISCERNING. *Hebrews 4:12 (nkjv)* _12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart._ GOD'S WORD WORKS EFFECTIVELY WITHIN THOSE WHO BELIEVE *1 Thessalonians 2:13 (nkjv)* _13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe._ Do not be distressed over the things you do not understand, so long as you believe in Jesus Christ, that He is Lord, that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved, and that you are not living in sin while professing to be free from those sins God tells us not to do. *Romans 10:9-10 (kjv)* _9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved._ _10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation._ CONCLUSION For those that do not understand the Trinity, or the Rapture, it's alright, because Christ remains faithful. *2 Timothy 2:13 (nkjv)* _13 If we are faithless,_ _He remains faithful;_ _He cannot deny Himself._ ...so whether you believe the rapture will come before or after, whether you understand it or not, God's Word will be fulfilled with your life if you truly believe. It's a humorous thought that someone who does not understand the rapture will be raptured regardless, whether they like it or not, sorry to disappoint those that want to stick around. I say this with a smile on my face, and not to offend.

You're making a joke, right? Though, surprisingly enough--or perhaps not so surprising which is really sad to say--there are some people who would accept this logic. Of course if such foolish reasoning were valid, we'd have to accept that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be three persons in one being when they get to heaven because Jesus said: "But I tell you that many from east and west will come and recline at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom of the heavens;” (Matthew 8:11)

We know He cant be darkness - deception - confusion etc He can be Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that is all recorded in Scripture not sucked out of a thumb. I've been in church stuff since I was 12 and I'm 50. Catholic, evangelist, self teaching, gnostic, and then studied with the Witnesses. Went to meetings, they were impressed by how smart I was whenit comesto Bible stuff.. I was involved with the J.W.s for years. Never went out in the field and never was baptized , I was more like studying the Witnesses organization than anything else. I do appreciate the fact that I clearly found THE TRUTH with them. I got to the conclusion that they are guided by jehova .nonetheless...some things like the 1914 generation stuff, and some others flaw I found in prophecies were enough for me to step away and keep my self-teaching method. I learned a lot with the J.w. can't lie. Just I didn't agree with some of the government body stuff and behavior. But let's be honest here. .when Moses went to the mountain to get the 10th commands . The people he left in charge got corrupted, are we going to say they were not God's people anymore justbecauseof it ? No. When Moses committed an act that God didn't approved before they crossed the promised land, .did they stop from being God's nation ? No. jehova just selected someone else in Moses place . ( Joshua) my point is.....I'm against the Government body .not against Jehova and the J.W.s I do think they're God's people and the truth religión. My years and years of Bible experience since 12 years old are enough to understand that . It's either....let's jump from the Bus. Or wait until the Bus driver get replaced .but you can't deny they're God's people. Sooner or later we'll have to sit .meditate and take action.. I haven't done it so. But hey....it doesn't mean I haven't thought about what I'm expressing here either
@BeroeanPickets2 жыл бұрын
You make some interesting points, Kamelody 23. But are you taking the comparison with Israel to its logical conclusion? Let's start with Moses. Jehovah was ready to destroy the nation right then because they built the golden calf. Jehovah now said to Moses: “Go, descend, because your people, whom you led up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8 They have quickly deviated from the way I commanded them to go. They have made for themselves a statue of a calf, and they keep bowing down to it and sacrificing to it and saying, ‘This is your God, O Israel, who led you up out of the land of Egypt.’” 9 Jehovah went on to say to Moses: “I have seen that this is an obstinate people. 10 So now let me be, and I will exterminate them in my burning anger, and let me make a great nation from you instead.” He spared them because Moses implored him to, but those that sided with Moses opposers were destroyed, and as things turned out, everyone over 20 died in the desert because of unfaithfulness and didn't enter into the promised land. Then after sending many prophets (which they killed) to warn them, God sent them his Son, whom they also killed (Matthew 21:33-41; 23:33-39). As a result, he destroyed the entire nation in 70 C.E. Only individuals, who rejected the ways of the nation and put faith in God and stood up to the reproach of their fellows, were spared. Jehovah's Witnesses have found many of the truths in Scripture, but have poisoned their message with false teachings of men. In this, they are no different from other organized religion. One day, organized religion will be done away with as prophesied in Revelation 18. No religion will be spared, but true worshippers (individuals out of all of Christendom) like those first century Christians will escape (1 Corinthians 15:50-57).

@@BeroeanPickets I disagree, it doesn't matter the reason why the people in charge committed was disciplined by jehova or the reason the people in charge was influenced by Satan, the truth is ......God people ..God Nation...DO NOT STOP FROM BEING GOD'S NATION just because the people in charge of the congregation get manipulated by Satan or are in some way influenced by Satan. Take the Israel Nation as a example. How many kings did stuff against God's principles and became corrupted. Did Israel stop from being God's nation just because of that ? All Jehova had to do was substitute those in charge. Period. And he did so. Answer Me this question: are we living in the last days of this cruel, corrupted and inmoral world ? Even people who doesn't even study the Bible can agree that this world scenes are so terrible in all sense of the word , that people live in fear as soon as we wake up in the morning, you have read the Bible. You ....and I don't know you. But my intuition and knowledge tells me you're a very smart and very knowledgeable about the holy scriptures. So you have to understand that we're living in a critical moment in humanity, in the last days of this world system and Satan's reign. So. Knowing all of this....do you really believe Jehovah is not going to have a true religion, a true spiritual arc for his beloved slaves ? I DOUBT IT
@BeroeanPickets2 жыл бұрын
@@kamelody7285 I will answer your question, but first I need to address a problem with your premise. Yes, Israel, even when rebelling against Jehovah, even when worshipping false gods, continued to be his nation. Jesus told the Jews that because of their conduct "the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits." (Matthew 21:43) Your premise--if I'm reading you correctly--is that God's nation today is the Organization of Jehovah's Witnesses. However, they only came into existence in 1931. The nation producing fruits which was granted the Kingdom of God was the Christian congregation of the first century. Like Israel, that Christian congregation when apostate, but there remained faithful men throughout history. (Romans 11:4) . . .Yet, what does the divine pronouncement say to him? “I have left for myself 7,000 men who have not bent the knee to Baʹal.” So all of Christendom is the modern-day equivalent to apostate Israel, but there are some who will be saved. Consider the parable of the Wheat and Weeds. Even the Angels couldn't be trusted to distinguish them one from another until harvest time.

We can look at our universe as a computer, but very different from the ones we created. Our computers need a specific program to run. Universe on the other hand has clever laws of physics acting as a base computational algo and that allows interesting things emerging from that computation. The most interesting thing emerging is the life itself. One could argue God put his mark into creation of these clever laws of physics that allow emergence of intelligent life. You don't have to assume God is constantly intervening into our universe and micro managing it.

But God reveals himself to his chosen ones by means of his Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus (having faith in Jesus Christ): "No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
