Hey boss been practicing a lot today and it seems like the way the characters and how they hold weapons/interact with enemies has changed slightly but i have been able to pull of some chamber throws! I feel like the false edge strike is less effective now since to me it seems like enemies don't really take as much damage from non clicked attacks and the way characters go back to neutral is less jerky than before. :'( Haven't gotten to shield bash yet as I need to learn mobility first but yeah lol hope the combat changes haven't affected it too much. hope this is all bc I'm noob to these techs and not bc the new combat changes messed it all up

The update has changed a whole bunch. After your comment the other day, I put together a video doing these moves on the current patch, it's up now. "Hockey" guard is an actual historic "plow" guard. However, you would hit with a false edge upwards rather than throwing your opponent with it haha

I guess I just need a brain three sizes bigger to understand this game in any capacity When I do get the weapon behind them, all I succeed in doing is breaking my characters arms and bending them in ways they shouldn't bend

Is shield grappling still possible after the latest patch? I used to stab attack, then knock them down between my sword and round shield before, if i missed the stab.

Does this still work for 0.8.4 after the combat update? I find it very hard to replicate reliably even with 5+ hours of practice in Arena slaughtering countless poor inept souls with my master character

The combat update changed a lot of the timing and specifics, but the concepts are still good. Here's a reel of tricks in 0.8.4 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4LWnWZ_nqpsm9E In general, I think the new update made tricks harder to do. If you can record your play, you can bring your clips by the Bare Mettle discord for guidance.

bro i havent tried all these yet i need to learn the throwing move i love the two hand pole hammer. but there this other crazy move i keep doing its basically like the two hand over head except its done with just a single click so its like a right swing. but i start the attack behind my right shoulder then move mouse past opponents head and it will do a very fast overhead attack and bonk em on the face most of the time. now it wont always do it but when your guy blocks a certain way it will do it more often. maybe you know how to figure out how to proc it on purpose mine is mainly by accident. its wierd though its not as powerful as the real overhead but its fast and it will stun them when they have the plate helm on

Hey sensei I got a question, I can randomly send enemies flying with a longsword swing but then it seems my swings are weak and I can't figure out how to consistently put all my might into a swing, any suggestions?

Longswords are pretty hard to use... You have to whip them around your body. The sword itself is light so it doesn't do much of the work. Whipping means turning and/or stepping against your own swing as you throw it so you get a push AND a pull. For a basic right to left, this means stepping forward (note that it uses your back leg) as you start to swing and then stepping to the right (note that it uses your front leg) as your sword takes flight. Though this video is about the maul, the swing mechanics (especially the bit about mushroom-shaped arcs) apply pretty broadly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/enOwaaGcebZ7oMUm Godspeed, Frank.

I still cant do any of these and I have 2 masters characters from trying to learn how to grapple it seems impossible other than grabbing a high impact weapon and crouching before the hit to send them flying. But Ill keep at it.

A lot of small and non-obvious details add up to make a big difference. For example, when you let go of the step key matters just as much as when you press it. Or if you turn too sharply or on the right angle but too fast, your weapon might get stuck behind your back or appear to simply pass through your target. The skill "Fend" can cause your guy to react to an attack and ruin your posture. I use OBS, which is free, and an input overlay plugin to record replays. Looking at them helps me figure out those small details within the context of my own play. You could also take them to the Bare Mettle discord. Good luck.

been practicing all night trying to master chamber throws and they're whooping my ass, do u have any notes for the throw itself, I dont feel like I can consistently find the arc angle once i connect with his back in hockey stance, i find myself connecting with his back then winding up the wrong attack, that and getting used to positing your character to connect in the first place have been my weak spots right now. always love the content though your tech blows my mind and shows how much you can do with the physics of the engine

To get around the wrong wind up thing, you have to click while drawing the arc. I find that clicking naturally makes me want to stop moving the cusor like "move then click" but you have to click while moving to get the left windup. To get a little more reach, after you do the stunning swing you're looking 90 degrees to the right so you can close the gap with a left step before turning to sweep.
