Excalibur's Thanksgiving Weekend (Elevated) Buffet. Las Vegas

Did I ever tell you about my grandmother... She was a kleptomaniac. She grew up during the depression and it made her crazy. One time she stole all the arm covers when we took her furniture shopping. And another time she stole a plate from a Chinese restaurant (she loved the veal cutlets) and the manager started chasing us to the car, I thought she was finally going to get caught. But he just gave her the sweater she forgot. Anyway, whenever you're stealing crackers or jellies or anything else you can steal..... I think of her. Love the videos Danny. You're the best.

My grandmother would bring aluminum foil to Sizzler and take home some salad bar items and the baked potato (and we had savings in the bank). Carol Burnett said her mom used to take a roll of toilet tissue from the restroom at the movie theater when they went to see a movie. I think it is a state of mind/old school. 😅

They had a really impressive selection of food items from which to choose but they really didn't keep the food stations in great condition - the food stations were pretty messy/it was obvious no one had come and cleaned in a little bit (which seems a little careless).

Elevated buffet menu? Everything was elevated but the orange chicken. This is the first time I have seen roasted vegetables at a carving station. I'm glad you had a good thanksgiving dinner DTM.

Watching late. Happy T Day. The typical Thanksgiving pies are Pecan, Pumpkin (which they had) and mincemeat which was not on the elevated menu. Mincemeat typically does not contain meat but "can." It contains apples, candied citrus peel, raisins, sugar and brandy(?) (probably no brandy in a buffet). Cinnamon, ginger, allspice and nutmeg typically spice the mixture, should you ever have the option. The menu "claims" Roasted Turkey Dark and Light Meat. Maybe fresh was an asking option? Perhaps the bird on display was just put there and not dissected yet? Glad you enjoyed!

I think I am as shocked as you.😆 I go to Vegas occasionally with family and my Aunt would get free buffet tickets somehow for Excalibur and I remember not wanting to go even though it was free.🤣 I remember joking I would pay someone to take the these tickets .🤣🤣 Maybe they only have good food that one week of the year you were there. But love the review. I will try it if I am there on Thanksgiving week.😜

Sometimes those inexpensive buffets can out do the pricier ones. That Excaliber buffet looks like it did just that. Love those guest appearance by that couple. You are famous and when children are named after you, like "Danny The Medic Smith" I know you've risen to stardom! Oh, the kid's middle name is "The Medic." That name could also be "Danny Tungster Smith." Ah, someday I'll get to meet you and share a meal with you. Now you know that I have a dream!

From my experience MGM no longer has any decent buffets - Excalibur and Luxor buffets seem more like something one would find at a high school cafeteria. Bellagio, for the price, is super expensive and does not seem to hold a candle to Wynn or Caesars. Is the Cosmo buffet still going? Has MGM stripped that one down yet?

Thanks for the review.. The “elevated” buffet looked a bit better than the regular buffet you had there last time. All I can say is you are either very brave or crazy to pay for the Excalibur buffet again. The turkey did indeed look very institution. So the actual turkey was just placed out just for show? I wonder what would have happened if you specifically asked for a turkey wing or turkey leg instead of two slices of whatever they gave you. Why didn’t you try any of the seafood? Like the shrimp, mussels, and clams? No Asian food at this buffet? How “elevated” can that be?

It’s so sad they they use all these ingredients, try to out something nice together but then management totally lacks understanding that CLEANING UP is what breaks it. Feel sad for these chefs who try their best to work with the resources they get.
