preservation? lol. starting from Stalingrad all the way south to Crimea up north to Finland all the way to Berlin and then some there are millions of items like that scattered all over the place. you cant preserve them all .

Truly amazing discoveries!! Forgive my ignorance as this may be a stupid question but what are some of the risks in undertaking these digs? Any danger present from the still live rounds of ammo or any risk of coming across stocks of grenades or mines etc??
