Excavator Dumper

i have a kubota u17 and a single axel diamond c dump trailer. i can put the mini x in the trailer go to the job site and do the same as this gentleman. one caveot, i press the button and the dump trailer goes up. its too heavy for the mini x to lift. it holds 4 cu yards of mulch. but it sure is handy

I just spent 5 days working "in the field" with this outfit. It worked very well in some challenging conditions (graveling a trail built over bog). I will be making some very minor changes to the loop used to dump, but other than that it is working just fine!

@@muleskinnerjack I saw one brand of excavator dump trailer uses a loop of cable at the front of the trailer to grab onto.

@@TF856 Thanks! I will probably try that. I have replaced the JD17D with a Cat 301.7CR so I need to modify the hook up anyway.

Man.. all i want to do when im older is live in the middle if nowhere with just a couple of tractors and just DIG.. thats all i need.

2 Tractors is enough, also you will want an excavator or 2, lots of attachments for both, maybe some chainsaws... Life is good!

You should put a drop hitch on that blade so that when you raise the blade to go dump the trailer all the weight won't be on the back axle. Drop hitches come in several different lengths.

That is a good point and worth some discussion. I think a drop hitch is worth considering for someone creating a similar setup. There are 2 reasons it wouldn't (probably) work as well for me. 1 - I frequently blade out the dumped material with the trailer still attached. A drop hitch would still work for this, but would interfere somewhat. 2 - The trailer I am using has "walking beam" suspension. This means the weight on each axle is always the same (on level ground) no matter the height of the hitch ball. Thanks for your thoughts, they are helpful!

The trailer is a Woodland Mills. They don't sell them anymore, but it looks identical to this one - range-road.ca/range-road-atv-utv-trailers/rr600-atv-utv-log-trailer/

What winch are you using for the ATV dump setup? I just ordered one of these trailers and have lots of material to move....Any setup advice appreciated.

For the ATV dump I used a Superwinch, 2000lbs I think (might be 2500). Also used a small pulley block to double the power. Without the block there is not enough power. You don't want to overdo the winch size on the ATV trailer I used though, as it is only rated to dump 4 - 500 lbs (but GVW is 2000 lbs). The boom might fail if the winch was too strong.
