Very clear. Subscribed. How do I show the values at the top of each bar?
@ThinkOutsideTheSlide3 жыл бұрын
Since PowerPoint's graphing is the same as Excel, you can add data labels to show the values at the top of the columns.

Is it possible to force powerpoint to display animated columns charts bars starting from right to left i.e. from the low to the high? Thanks!
@ThinkOutsideTheSlide3 жыл бұрын
No it is not. PowerPoint does not allow you to change the default animation order of categories for a chart.

What if the data from excel is larger than the pre formatted data in power point? I’m struggling with creating a chart to show more data
@ThinkOutsideTheSlide Жыл бұрын
You can paste in more data than the default data for a PowerPoint graph. In fact, you can paste in data and formulas. This video shows you how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2nRnn5ohr10b8U.

I have a question. I have created a few charts in PowerPoint using this method. However, the PPT is being shared and edited by multiple people in remote locations. I just received the PPT back and I need to make edits to a chart someone else inserted. When I went to "edit data in excel", Excel gives me an alert telling me it can't find the base xlsx file and is it possible it was moved, renamed, or deleted? Then Powerpoint gives me a similar alert telling me the linked file isn't available because it has been moved or hasn't been saved. It recommends embedding the data instead of linking in order to avoid this error. How did I end up here? Does this mean that the other user created the chart in excel and then copied and pasted it into PPT rather than creating it natively in PPT and that when I try to edit it, it is looking for the user's base file? I recreated the chart in PPT but now when I send it back, will THAT user have trouble editing the chart because there is a linked file saved to MY computer? How can I make sure the chart is using embedded data? Thanks!

You are correct that it is likely that the other user created the chart in Excel and used the regular copy & paste method to insert the chart into the slide. This method creates a link to the data in the original Excel file and does not copy the data into the PowerPoint file. So when you want to edit the data, the data is not found because it is in an Excel file on that other person's computer. When you create the chart in PowerPoint, the data is always in the PowerPoint file so anyone who has the file can update the chart. I would suggest you ask the others to only create the charts in PowerPoint using the technique in the video so that everyone can edit all the charts if needed.

Hi, Is it possible to create different charts using one excel worksheet with different data points. So basically , instead of going to each chart to change the data every week, can i have one excel file with all charts data together where all i need to do every week is to go to that 1 excel file and do the changes and eventually all charts will be updated.
@ThinkOutsideTheSlide3 жыл бұрын
I believe you can. If each chart referenced the same data cells, once those cells are updated, all of the charts would update.
