Hi Chris, thanks for the video. How can you count the total filtered unique characters excluding the hidden cells in a column?

I have used Counta for either numbers or text columns for years. I use Count only in conjuctiin with number cleaning by comparing Count and Counta to help find erroneous formating of numbers/text especially in very large data sets. The list of zip codes is Distinct but not Unique. The UNIQUE function will generate either s Distinct list (default) or a Unique list (by selecting the "occurs only once" argument).

@@ChrisMenardTraining i didnt doubt that you new the difference and you do a great job explaining it in that older video. However I am frustrated that the vast majority of Excel users do not recognize the difference. If they toss their data set into the Data Model they will find Distinct Count in the drop-down of built-in calculations. Manages will ask for unique lists when they want distinct lists. I don't consider it picky and it certainly isn't an advanced topic!. Then you could ditch the non-term "true (or "truly") unique!
