It is criminal that Microsoft has been allowed to sell us a product does this: corrupt file. I use Excel everyday all day long for decades. How many times has the file become corrupt - too many to count. They should have to pay us $10,000 every time a corrupt file happens - AND that still would not be enough.

I've had *some* success with just opening the file on any other computer (sometimes even on one that runs Excel 2010). Worth a try...

With the corrupt file open could you link back to it with a new file? e.g. in the new file =[CorruptFilename]Sheet1!A1 and copying for a duplicate range in the 1st worksheet then repeating for the 2nd worksheet? or =FORMULATEXT([CorruptFilename]Sheet1!A1) to get any formulas?

Opening the excel currupted file with the online google spreadsheets (or other similar live service on the web) may also help to retrive the data.
