Excel line graphs - legends generated incorrectly

I was making an Excel graph out of data with many rows and columns, and Excel would not properly generate the legend.
Excel got confused because there was a word in the top left corner of my data that said "Years," above the column with the numbers 1998-2022.
Excel treated that column as if those were numbers to be graphed, even though all of the other numbers are around 100,000,000.
Once I deleted that word "Years," Excel properly generates the labels in the legend.
This may not help many people, but it sure took me a long time to figure out. But maybe I'm just slow.

OMG! Thank you! Similar but different problem, I did not have a header above my data column (or the label column). My labels were part of the graph data but excel labeled each item in the legend as 1,2,3,4,etc.
