Thanx for explaining all these great Excel functions (MAP, BYROW, BYCOL, REDUCE, and LAMBDA). I use Google sheets more than Excel. We can only hope Google will implement some of these useful functions soon (like they did with SEQUENCE and FLATTEN). Maybe you can show a Google Apps Script version of some of these functions.

@@FunSpiritman Let me give you an example. From time-to-time my Google sheets pass the 5 million cell limit and run into trouble. So I wrote a script to loop through all the tabs and determine the cell counts. Then these are stored in an array. Reduce allows me to get a sum of all the counts function sheetSizeDeterminator(){ var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet(); var sheets = ss.getSheets() var size = 0 var total = [] sheets.forEach(function(sheet){ size = sheet.getMaxColumns()*sheet.getMaxRows() total.push(size) Logger.log(sheet.getSheetName() + " Size: " + size) }); Logger.log("Total size is: " + sumArray(total)) } // sum values in an array function sumArray(array) { return array.reduce (function(previous,current) { return previous+current; },0); }

The examples are good but there are shorter alternatives without Lambda. =Sum(B3:B14) and =RegexReplace(A2,"[;,.>]","")

Hi. thanks for the video! I would suggest naming x or changinvalue as "accumulator", or "acc" instead. I think the name it describes well its purpose and clearly distinguishes the input coming from the collection (array) and accumulator as the value that keeps track of the intermediate calculations (state).
