Is it okay to transform my data in Power Query, create measures in Power Pivot, and only open my workbook in PowerBI to do the visualizations? That is, I prefer to create measures in Power Pivot and not in PowerBI.

Yes, you can build model in Excel Power Pivot and then import the model into Power BI. I do that often.

Dear Mr. MIke, one more thing, if you told that dont use measure if there is duplicate records then why we are using measure of [TotalSales] in Averge monthly sales = Averagex(Values(Ddate[EoMonth],[Total Sales($)]) where [Total Sales($)] = Sumx(Fsales,related(prise)*unit)

Because the table being iterated: Values(Ddate[EoMonth] is a unique list.

I cannot seem to get the correct file or setup for this video. I downloaded the files to my PC. I opened the "17-...Class Start" file and then went to change source like you said to do to bring it to my folder and I'm just not starting at the same place. :(

@@excelisfun I'm starting from the ClassStart file which is a PowerBIDesktop file. When i change the source file to my version of your "CSV Files" saved to my PC. I click Close and a pop-up appears at the top in yellow about "Pending changes to apply". I click apply changes. At this point I'm still in the file with tabs at the bottom beginning with "Formulas", "Total" and many more. But from your video you're in PowerPivot so it says "fSales" and has only three more columns (names of your queries) after it. I'm sorry to bother you bc everyone else seems to get it. Something on my end seems off. I'm not in the right spot.

Dear Mr. Mike , i have a question, the thumb rule is if there is a duplicate in fact table then don't use [measure] in calculated column or in X iterator instead only use formula. My question is, is duplicate means complete columns are duplicates or only single columns have duplicate value

There is trouble when there are duplicate records. Duplicates in columns are fine.

Hi. i have question instead off this measur using Allselected() to remove matrix filters and adding values(product[Category]) to filter by category : CALCULATE([Total Sales($)],ALLSELECTED(),VALUES(dProduct[Category])) coudn't just remove filter on dProduct[Product] and leave all others fILTERS active like :CALCULATE([Total Sales($)],all(dProduct[Products]))?
