floor should be first. cant stand to see shower floor tiles cut to the wall tiles, because after some time it will settle and grout will crack at that detail. once that happens water will travel down wall tiles directly under floor tiles and in time saturate mud bed. if wall tiles are laid on top of floor tiles this penetration will be much much less if any. in a shower never install shower floor tiles after wall tiles unless you leave a gap on bottom and slide floor tiles underneath, but its best to do floor first and grout floor (and even seal the joint against wall) then install wall tiles...

GROUT DOESEN'T GO IN WALL/FLOR JOINTS!!! SPECIAL SILICONE MUST GO ! It can go both ways, everything has its advantages. It's even better quality doing wall tiles first because poliestren isolation can lay down under wheight of estrih flor, in some rare cases, and you have the bigg problem if flor tiles are made first.

When I say grout I mean whatever I have seen in my 40 plus years of doing tile. I have remodeled hundreds of showers and everyone that has floor tiles cut to wall tiles is separated, whether its grout or silicone. In all those water has penetrated underneath. Whenever I see floor tiles first, penetration of water is doesnt happen no where as much because water isn't traveling straight down under pan...I have never ever seen a shower benefit when walls are done first. You can use your fancy words about the detail but you probably cannot speak from as much experience..I don't care what it is, flat work first, just like slab before block, floor tiles before base, flooring under casings, cabinets on top of flooring, Its just a better detail...can you imagine shower floor pebble tile cut to walls, not good at all. Let's put in furniture first and cut to it, just shouldn't happen. Even curb sills, seat benches, and niche sills should be set first but its way harder to plan these out and most don't do it but they should. Especially in a shower anything one can do to reduce water penetration should be done and besides that it looks so much better. Yes if siliconed or grouted nicely one might not be able to tell but in time that Silicone will separate and now water is going straight under mud pitch or under shower floor tiles, not good and is one of the biggest shower floor failures

When silicone gets old, you remove it and put new one. Easy..I do flor tiles first most of the time, because it's easier for me like that, not that I think it has more quality. Have you ever seen when estrih flore sinks down about 0,5 cm -1 cm ?
