water company cannot do it for us. it is our responsibility. some don't have problems and lived even longer doing oil paintings. they even painted with their hands. it is only the thinner that can cause it but you are supposed to use it outside. linseed oil and paints should not cause that lung issues....

Thanks for posting yourself actually painting and _at normal speed_ and with a 2nd and 3rd camera _to show you mixing_ and the model! It is very interesting that you use white to set up for glazing later! This is the opposite of alla prima painting. I love your EdgePro Paintbook easel. Everything I was "taught" (Ha!) in the 80s was 1/1000th of what I can learn online now for free in one night-minus the frustration! And we never saw our teachers paint a single thing (while talking too ♥) Cheers, from Toronto. Stay safe folks-mail in your votes America! ☮

Great demonstration and the hand, although not finished looks pretty good however, this model has the most wonderful eyes which has not been captured. It will be interesting to see if he can correct this, Thank you.

The rest of the world (a very big place) outside of the USA doesn't have a clue what you are referring to when you keep going on about 'values'. The lightness and darkness of a colour, hue, tint or shade is known-and has been known for centuries-as its 'TONE'. Stop using the vacuous and meaningless word 'value' when you mean tone. Something's value is its monetary worth.
@redangrybird7564

Value refers to "tonal value", as tone refers to the mix of a colour with grey. Please check the definitions of tone, shade and tint.

I was taught hue, value and "chroma". And then there were tints (with wht) and shades (with black). The terms might differ now, but we all know about saturation-no one says "chroma" anymore. (I am 63.)

@@jmmacb03 Adding white to a colour gives you a tint (as you correctly say) and adding black to a colour gives its shade. The lightness and darkness of a colour has always, throughout the history of art, been its tone. I think the confusion stems from the fact that some people, when referring to a colour's "tonal value" have clumsily dropped the "tonal" and just kept the "value", which is quite ridiculous. Chroma simply refers to the depth of a colour's brilliance.

@@redangrybird7564 I don't need to check the definitions of tone, shade and tint, I already know them. Your definition of "tone being a mix of a colour with grey" is wrong. Tone is the lightness and darkness of a colour, as I've already pointed out.

I'm sorry, but I must point out just how toxic oil paint is! I used it a few times and I got all kinds of lung issues! Please consider acrylics, as they are not toxic and have a better look any way. God bless!

I don't like acrylic bc i had to use water to wash my brushes and had to throw way dried leftovers. artists must consider water pollution. also some hate watercolor. the smell bother them. i started oil and there are nothing to go to water pipes directly.

Sangmi Kim let the water companies take care of that! Don't poison urself! It's not toxic anyway. Oil causes biological breakdown from ketone degeneration. I know because I've had a rash for years. Use clay kettles to cleanse the colon!

Not toxic if used in a well ventilated space. Moisturize your hands or wear gloves.
