20:13 After you’re done with the series, I would go back and watch a scene or two dubbed that has this shinigami in it. He gives one of the funniest line deliveries in the whole dub.

This is the only anime I watch dubbed because it's hilarious

I find it sad how much of Nears reasoning was cut. The conclusion is the same, but without the inner monologue we don't get to see the "why" of his actions, same with light.

I did not mind that much, actually. There was a lot going on and I just assumed they had to catch up plotwise, same happened before and I got used to it =)

@@storieswithstyle They kinda screwed themselves out of that breathing room by not giving two halves of a story the same time in that story... but it is what it is.

Aizawa is truly the most realistic character in Death Note

As far as Misa and Light are concerned... Note the bird in the cage. Is it trapped in the cage? It wants to be in the cage. It loves its prison. It's all it knows.

just missed the live premiere but still excited to watch this reaction! Very curious to see what you think of the series as a whole soon :) edit: do you like the heavy metal theme song change? i feel like its representative of the state of the very clear shift from lights arguable 'good intentions' initially to create a peaceful world, to throwing off the mask internally at this point due to his power and control... no beautiful and hopeful vocals now, and someone screaming "WHAT'S UP?!" at you mockingly because they own you and are unhinged... the song is insane and i feel like is a great way to show the fear and consequences of L's death... everybody on earth would feel like the song feels & it's a great mood-changer in general as a show! i love it personally

11:25 you said this information is ridiculously stupid to put in but i actually thought this is interesting. it means that someone who doesn't have a official name, or someone who didn't even named by someone can't be escaped from shinigami or a person with shinigami eyes to kill them, because the "name" that need to write down to kill them would be automatically generated and displayed to the shinigami eyes i think. so i would assume something like description of that person in shinigami language, or even some randomly generated letters and symbols like "0}39U2zb[(Sk" to show up.

Imagine looking at a guy with no official name and you see "doctor's note"-type chicken scratch gibberish.

You should react to Code Geass, it has a super smart protagonist just like in Death Note.

nah, he would be super pissed at EVERYTHING and would not embrace the joy it provides

Too much of not so good things in Code Geass, even if 5% of the show is top tier and perhaps one of the 10 best ending ever of an anime...

dont think missiles have to go above the satellites to be untraceable

in fact, you just gotta go close enough to the ground to avoid radar.

Nah, L was never noble and he didn't really cared much about the lifes of other people, with him it was all just about winning the game... ^^

I know you in episode 1 were comparing your actions to lights, before he goes fully off the deep end. For a show that gives you a better compare/contrast avenue may I suggest code geass? Lelouch is closer to what you were thinking in episode 1 with more of a mixed bag of controversial actions, rather than just mass murder on loop.
