why does buying foreign currency decrease the value of the home currency?

Because you are selling your home currency to buy the foreign currency

@@tutor2u-official I know this decreases demand for the pound and hence decrease prices. But how do you explain the supply side? Supply of foreign currency increases but why does that decrease the pound?
