@@avrenimedragal7650 I agree it is.. but they are stressed because they are sensitive to oppression and others stepping on their ability to just feel safe, others are stressed because their words are causing people to be mad at them, sometimes they feel the others are getting preferential treatment and sometimes they dont realize what they're saying is actually offensive or sexist or in some cases, it isnt the right place to say them. (i.e., dead baby jokes at a woman who has had 6 miscarriages. keep it to your close friends you know?) I guess what I'm saying is, we _do_ need to realize that we cant just say whatever to whoever even if it's just "funny" and not offensive. on the other hand, when people are letting others know, they should STOP expecting everyone else to _do their own research_ before entering the chat. they need to give sensitivity if they expect it. no more "they started it" so for a while, as each individual gains self awareness and awareness of psychological and culture and just modern global existence, it is expected things will be uncomfortable having certain discussions. we should not try to escape this discomfort. everything comes with growing pains. compromise and coexistence doesn't mean letting the other side 'win' I believe it means making them an ally, even if there are still some differences and preferences they will hold. 💗

They probably just wanted to get independence from Britain, so they first joined the Federation of Malaya during the efforts by all the Malayan leadership. You one thing I would give the americans a break right now is that they allowed discussions like these to happen. There has been distortions that has us set back and behave a little disgruntled optimism towards the Americans. Sadly due to the nature of current technology. All over the world continues corroborate freedom of speech but only to be definitively neutralize. This is chockful experience everyday in USA planet now in your sovereign country. I witnessed some videos of old indicating a notion of prejudice against their government bodies. A direct mistrust implying that there is an amassing distinction of a behaviour in their givernment bodies. Naming, bureaucracy and greed that has folly good governance and socioeconomic 'future.' But I am glad to see this video. To be able to talk about prejudice. And learn that prejudices are nothing to be afraid of and that it would be a misconception of the overall picture. It allows us to adapt a sense of knowing that humans don't have to forever be incompatible; and reconciliation can be attained. Not by force but our ever defining need of/towards resilience. Things are never complete without the other. We know how to grief but not only for ourselves but also to grief with others. The world has change. Kids are now mixed but what holds true is the values they long hold. I pry a hungry eye; dire lust for virtuosity in all of us. I can only pray.

There are still student exchange programs. Rotary International does international exchanges with students. It's pretty difficult to get into but they take safety and making sure the student is healthy mentally and physically while abroad. They do 6 months and 1 year exchange programs you just have to stay in school. If you get kicked out you go back home 🤷🏻‍♀️

I believe it was befitting to have their thoughts that were mainly backed by their prejudices shared in the debate session. The idea was that over time, for whatever the exchange program provided, gave them the principle idea on how negative having prejudices on strangers would be, without getting to know them more intimately/personally and so forth. Let's have positive thoughts that in the end of the program, everyone had thrown away those prejudices sincerely and became international friends - plus hey like you and I, I presume you're over there somewhere in the PH and I'm just right across over here in MY and fast forward, we now live in a way more open and accpeting society towards others ;) Just want to say one last thing, KEEP YOUR DISTANCE, DO NOT TOUCH UNNECESSARY PUBLIC THINGS AND MAY YOU BE COVID FREE ;) Karaming salamat ok

Its not just income though. The history of hatred goes back wayyyy back. it doesnt help with the fact that many chinese were borught in by the brits as hard labourers and many chinese kongsis were granted land by the brits (who of course took from malay villagers to grow crops). This was before world war 1 by the way. The hatred didn't starrt to intensify until the communist party pretty much becoming dicks that lead to many innocent chinese faced prejudice from malays and non malay bumiputeras from not only malaya but also borneo as well. Its not a simple history lesson to say the least. at least it didnt reach peak level bad like in Indonesia or vietnam.

I personally think integration between Malays, Chinese, Indians &, etc in Malaysia suffers because of religion. Not because of the ideology itself...but more because of the limitation/barriers in Islam. Malay (mostly Muslims) cant be in contact with dogs, pork, and alcohol (it's considered very dirty) . It sounds soo mundane but having such limitations when socializing really trap Muslims in a bubble. I see it in Europe too, Muslims cant integrate well into local society. Muslims do ok in a country that has the facilities to cater to Muslims..but can't really expand in a society that don't. When a Muslim is taught since young that pork, dogs, & alcohol is dirty, they associate people that eat porks, keep dogs and drink alcohol as dirty too (which is not true). It's more of the limitation imposed on Muslims. I hear it all the time, some Malays would say ..." oh that Chinese girl is beautiful" or "that Indian guy is handsome' but that's where it stops. Nothing more can happen more because of the limitation they set themselves. *p.s - Malays Muslims in Malaysia also can't marry someone of a different faith.

There's also cases where chinese kongxi's were claiming land as theirs even though they were merchants brought in to invest. In Borneo, same case, chinese merchants came in, claim it as their land, local malays and ibans outright massacred them, see tha pattern. The hatred is far from "jealousy" like you claimed.

I love the way Suzi communicates and how she's passionate about everything,she's truly a Brazilian. I just wish they/she had decided to honor the native Brazilian with her costume instead of the 'gauchos' from South Brazilian. I know it's probably too much to wish for an exchange program organized so many years ago, as it was just not a theme at the time. But it would have been very beautiful to honor the people that lost the most through prejudice, discrimination and consequently violence.

The Chinese Malayan girl is the same act that I observe in younger and latest generations of Chinese in Malaysia now. It's really sad that they really do not want to claim that they're proud of being Malaysian. The fact that Chinese in PRC will never recognize them is really saddening. It's like a new generations of Malay-American who do not proud of being American or vice versa. It's crazy. When you technically born safe and grown safe in a country, please respect the country no matter what. That's where you are living and prospering, if not there, where else?

It's insanity to know that even if you are born as a citizen in Malaysia, you don't get the same rights as the so called "Bumiputra".

@@holypredator The Chinese can get Bumiputra privelige if they willing to change their chinese culture to Malay culture, chinese language to Malay language as the mother tounge, chinese dressing to Malay dressing and religion to Islam. Same goes to Indian, they need to change their identity to Malay. If the Chinese and Indian still want to identify themselves as Chinese from China and Indian from India it does not suit the definition of Bumiputera in Malay/Sabahan/Sarawakian context.

No we don’t. We are only Chinese by ethnicity, but we are real Malaysians. Most of us are 4-5th generation Chinese so no, we don’t see China as our motherland because it isn’t. If you’re not one of us, don’t try and represent us for us. Calling us Chinese or telling us to go back to China will earn you a good hard slap across the face.

Singaporean Chinese here giving my two cents' worth. There are two definitions of "Chinese", the first being the race and the second being the nationality. Referring to us overseas Chinese by the former definition is alright, but referring us by the latter would, as Sharon aptly put it across, "earn you a slap". China is less of a motherland to us, but more of where our roots, culture and ancestors came from.

Being Chinese is an identity, in most cases Chinese will not get into politics unless there are policies that outright affect them; so that they have to take a more active role in ensuring their livelihoods... We are living in an ever more globalise society, why should people cling to patriotism against another? But I will not stand with those who antagonise people even when they say they belong to any ethnicity, because there are countless people that function like childish separatist who identify by the nationality to justify their 'hate' and contempt...

Whilst I agree with you Kamarul that there are some, I personally finds it hard to quantify "many". I'm third generation Chinese Malaysian, I know a handful of those educated within the Chinese curriculum system, and none of them feels China is their motherland. The only (1) person I know who feels so strongly about their Chinese root is a second generation Chinese. Interestingly, when I asked if he'd consider moving back to China, he admitted "China" just provides him an ideological sense of identity; he's grown up in Malaysia, his friends and family are all here in Malaysia - there is no reason to go back at all. (He does travel extensively in China though) Most of the third and fourth generation Malaysian Chinese, however, do not think China is their motherland. A few of them may feel “stateless” I.e. doesn't matter which country they call home, but pretty sure not China. Even the many who went back to China for work and eventually settled there, they feel so foreign in China and that clarifies their their Malaysian roots even more distinctively for them.
