Hey Doc i like spyderco knives myself, my favorite carry is the Manix 2 lw salt edition. It came from the factory with yellow scales, my daughter and I dyed the scales odgreen. I like my para2 para3 endealla lw delica , my daughter loves her delica i got for her 15th birthday. But i gotta say the manix2 is my favorite spyderco . Awesome to have great friends Doc, Mr Wade seems very fair with his prices.

Hey Doc colonial is still in business they make a couple fixed blades and paratrooper switch blades. I believe they are the1of the oldest cutlery company in the usa.

Greetings, what did you use to die the scales? Sounds like a great selection…. I’ve been using the delicas as every day carry for 20 years. I’ve been making sure my daughters carry those as well. Usually, friends and family that are in the gift receiving loop ,,, a Swiss Army knife first and then a delica.. my brother gave me a steel sided one 20 years ago and it literally saved me from getting robbed or beat up,,, or killed.. In a maintenance uniform in downtown Atlanta midday .. a bum with a piece of pipe jumped me. Underground Atlanta.. parking. Because of using it all the time it was in my hand without me thinking .. muscle memory.

@@Jimthechevywheelman We used rit dye , it was extremely easy. Use a old pot you won't use anymore for cooking!! Bowl water add the dye mix and drop in the scales for 30seconds. Pull them out if the color isn't dark enough drop them in for another 30seconds. The dye has held up very well so far.

The patent for the cross bar lock ran out a few years ago. Benchmade has the Axis lock, Kizer has the clutch lock, and Hogue has the ABLE lock yet they’re all the same. Kizers you can adjust the tension but they’re all practically the same.

American Knife companies seem to honor each others Intellectual Property rights on their designs but the Benchmade patent on the Axis lock expired in April of 2015. It is now fair game and the reason why we see so many variants of it on the market.

The patent on the Axis lock expired about 4-5 years ago that's why you are seeing all the "Axis" like locks on knives popping up. Of course benchmade owns the trade mark of Axis lock so others that are making knives with a Axis style lock they are just calling it a different name and it's totally legal.
