i have a question :) when i want to form an exciplex, should i use strongly polar solvent (eg. dcm, acn) or mildly polar solvents (eg. toluene)? and when i measure the emission spectra should i excite the donor or the acceptor?

A very polar solvent will encourage the radical ion pairs to form, so for stable exciplexes you want to use mildly or non-polar solvents. It shouldn't matter which of the two you excite as the exciplex should see a shift from either one, but out of habit I usually excite the chromophore with the highest energy excitation, sometimes depending on the system there is good reason to excite the other, but it shouldn't matter you should see a shift from either emission band to indicate exciplex formation.

There are some CT from the exciplexes that appears in the ground state
