This is a layout/floorplan that I've been wanting! As an empty nester couple this would be perfect for us. When the adult child and spouse comes for a visit, they could have their own bedroom with bath. East coast needs to take note! Thank you so much Chance!

Thank you for coming here to Southern California ❤ ADUs are the buzz here. I wish there was a bigger market for Modulars and manufactured homes to the extent that we find outside of the state. In case folks don’t know what an ADU is, it’s a secondary residence built on the same property as a primary residence in California. Like an in-laws unit. They’re not built with all of the amenities we’re accustomed to seeing during Chance’s tours. Some people are putting more than one ADU on a piece of land for multi-family living. You can also rent them out but there can be restrictions depending on the area.

We have an ADU ..old school--former owners built sn apartment over the garage of our very small ranch house. Lots of people in our neighborhood have done that just for some extea space, but the people who built ours put in a kitchen, living space and separate entrance. We've had grown kids in it, and when they were gone, we rented it to someone else's grown kids. Honestly it's been great being able to offer the space, gives us someone right there to look in on our cat when we're gone, someone to watch the house generally. I'm glad Oregon,,Washington and California (I live in Oregon,) are loosening up land use rules, because it's just ridiculously expensive to buy or rent here. But it still seems like a lot of people have the mentality that if you own a house on a lot, it's single family, privacy, we don't even want to have to see our neighbors, for Pete's sake. Anyway, we're hoping to sell soon and move closer to family, and if we can have another house with an ADU or enough land to put one on it, I'm so down for it. Just hope someone sees the vision for our house (as we did twelve years ago.) 😅

We just started discussing an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) for my mother in law who recently lost her husband of 67 years. She still has their home, and was determined to move closer to town, but now that my FIL has passed and the healing is slowly happening, she’s thinking about staying, but at 84, it would he nice to have her closer, so if we purchased one of these, but turned it into a duplex with kitchenettes, we could rent one side, and then she could have her own space when she visits us, but then transition there if needed. I really love the storage for a much smaller home. Most ADU’s are designed for one person, like the Granny Pod, slightly larger than a primary bedroom with bathroom and kitchenette. Or the Incredibox those very small square tiny houses that are so poplar in TN the builder has created 2-3 tiny home communities, so not only does he sell the $15,000 mini, tiny home, but he then charges you rent to set it up, genius.

So glad your in CA!! I started watching your channel back during lockdown. Little did I know just a couple short years later we would lose our mobile home in a terrible storm. A giant tree fell on our 30 year old mobile home and it saved our lives. The way it was built was done so well that even though the tree fell through the living room where all 5 of us were, we all walked away unharmed. Our home wasn't so lucky. The damage was irreparable and now we are living with family and looking for another mobile/modular. It's kind of overwhelming, but your channel has been really helpful during this horrible time for us. We really enjoy all of your videos.

I love it, love it, love it! Did I say how much I love this? 😅 I my fantasy dream life I'd have everything the same except the utility room needs a door with a window and I'd have a tiled shower in the master bathroom and removable shower head in both bathrooms. It would be perfect for me and my fiance living there. Oh, and I'd like to put patio doors in the dining area but I probably wouldn't have a dinning table. Maybe one of those that folds and has the chairs stored inside and looks like a console table when folded away. I can picture it all now, pool and a porch out the back 🤔🤣. Well back to reality in grey and cold England 😅

The living room is too small. Not much options for furniture or a place for a tv. The only nice thing about two master suites is a single person could have this home and rent one room out.

It’s more than likely that the house isn’t leveled properly because it’s just on the lot. Once the house is on its permanent location it will be level and no light will come through.
