I’m so confused at the people upset at the changes. If you’ve already bought your L.A. for next year then use it!! It was solid before the revamp, no need to have to change. I’ve saved the readers from previous version and just reused them. Not everything has to be followed exactly as written. Relax guys!

They are very labor-intensive and expensive and require a lot of expertise. We are making sure to do them correctly and not rush them. We will not be releasing any more high school classes in 2022 or 2023, but after that, you can expect a lot of incredible high school courses coming your way!

I love news from the TGATB! It always ends well. The math redo was such a big deal for our fam. We were already using the Level K, but bought the new and started again and it was such a big difference. We don’t have a ton of problems with LA, so it will be exciting to see how they can make it better! We’ll be done with Level K in April and I haven’t purchased Level 1 yet, so good timing! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the work and love you put into this curriculum. It has made the homeschooling choice for our family work out better and easier than I could’ve ever dreamed. It’s wonderful to know the company is always striving to give us a better product.

Though I don't have any children this will effect I love that y'all are always listening and growing. I'm really hoping for more for highschool courses in language arts. For example, the American and British literature studies. I have a 9th grader this year and two daughters headed that way. In our state you have to have 4 years of language arts to graduate HS. One of which needs to include the study of American and/or British literature study. Fingers crossed 🤞

Hello friends! There will be no High School 4 because all the principles and Language Arts principles that are needed are included and taught in High School 1, 2, and 3. For the fourth year of high school, your child should start college courses, or take a high school writing course, editing course, or other Language Arts elective, which we do not have available at this time. The Good and the Beautiful is working on more high school courses. They are very labor-intensive and expensive and require a lot of expertise. We are making sure to do them correctly and not rush them. We will not be releasing any more high school classes in 2022 or 2023, but after that, you can expect a lot of incredible high school courses coming your way!

Your language arts and math programs have helped our daughter progress so steadily, which has been a huge blessing to her and our family. She was only able to read a few sight words in 6th grade and was too anxious and active in school to make too much progress academically (even though her special education teachers were amazing) I decided to homeschool her at the beginning of the pandemic, and we have a reader now! We use language arts, math, and handwriting. She is cruising in her handwriting notebooks and begs to do them. Thank you! This is an inspired program for sure.

Hello Rachel! We apologize that the wire binding is not performing like other books may have in the past. We are working with our printer to make sure that future items will not have this same binding problem. Some customers have had success squeezing the rings a little closer together to help close that gap that may allow the cover to come loose. A few others have replaced the coil with an inexpensive plastic spiral coil. The plastic coil can be easily spun into the existing holes without having to re-punch the pages. Again, to reassure you, we are working with our printer so that future course books will not have this problem.

This is a little off topic, but since you are checking comments and feedback here I just want to say that it would be a great change to print all the course material in the same orientation. Either all landscape or all portrait. It’s a pain trying to keep the books organized in a bookshelf or pack them in a bag when they are printed differently. Thanks!!

I look forward to seeing these new updates! I e are in grade one with my daughter who has worked her way up from kindergarten primer! As someone who did last year with the old math and this year with the updated simply math I couldn’t be more excited. I must say we enjoyed the old version also but the new math is fantastic! I suspect this will be the same for language arts! We do all subjects with the Good and the Beautiful and if you are a family on the fence about doing that I recommend that you do go with this company as they are amazing and have made my child excited to do school! Can’t wait to see how to link together the older style of language arts to the newer style of language arts for this upcoming year if it’s ready for the 2022-2023 school year!!!! But the K workbook has been a challenge for all the areas of improvement you mentioned, especially the lengthiness. I was thinking of purchasing a different curriculum but now I'll wait. 1. I'm grateful for the Good and the Beautiful and I love all they do. 2. I regret ever purchasing curriculum ahead of time for my next child. It's not just wasted money if I choose to buy the new curriculum but it's the fact that I thought I could keep using the materials for multiple children and yet new materials (science, history, math, and language arts!) Keep coming out before I even get to use what I bought. This greatly frustrates and saddens me. That being said, if I hadn't purchased anything with those intents, I'd just be excited for the new things coming. Anyone else feel the same way?? (I in no way wish TGTB to stop with progress!! I just needed a moment to mourn the old curriculum that I've used and loved)

I don't feel the same way. I don't have "fear of missing out" and just use what I have. I also buy well ahead of time so I can make my schedule for the upcoming year/years. I use what I have across multiple kiddos. This new LA sounds like it would have been better for my oldest girl who struggled. The current "new LA" is perfect for my middle daughter. It may not work for my son, so at that point, I'd consider buying the new set. I have a box with all materials/ curriculum that I keep using over and over. You definitely don't need to keep buying new.

Echoing the comments for finishing up the year 4 high school electives that say “future release.” I have a 10th grader (using year 2 of TGATB HS) and we won’t be able to finish out with TGATB due to such a long wait on those… 😖 (I’m glad to hear in an above response a realistic timeline on those so I can make a plan. Is…) I understand it’s expensive, but as admitted in this video, re-vamps are as well, and I’m sure more money is made re-vamping the lower levels, please don’t forget about our high schoolers who’ve been with TGATB for years and need a good solid, wholesome finish before heading out of their homeschooling…. 🙏🏻 Thanks for all you do.

@thegoodandthebeautiful how will this effect students who use the new levels going to the upper levels? I have a 1st grader this year… but worried about starting her with the new level 2 to move to old 3 if it isn’t going to be a smooth transition… please advise. :)

Hello Lindsey! We understand. 💛 Because there is a new scope and sequence for levels preschool to Level 2, you will notice these changes when transitioning from the old curriculum to the new curriculum: Original Level K Primer to New Level K: The new Level K moves much more slowly at the beginning of the course. Your child should have no problem moving from the original Level K Primer to the new Level K course, although some children may find the first 20 lessons or so easy and will be able to move through them quickly. Original Level K to New Level 1: If your child completed the original Level K, there will be no problem moving to the New Level 1, although much of the first unit of the new Level 1 will be review for the child, and the child may be able to move through the lessons more quickly. Original Level 1 to New Level 2: If your child completed the original Level 1, there will be no problem moving to the New Level 2, although much of the first unit of the new Level 2 will be review for the child, and the child may be able to move through the lessons more quickly. We are currently working on creating a new edition of Level 3 that will be released in early summer 2023, and it will be the perfect bridge between the new Level 2 and our current Level 4. If you take a full school year to complete the New Level 2, the new Level 3 will be ready for you when you need it for the next school year. We will not be redoing Level 4 as it is already aligned to an average Grade 4 level.

So excited for the new changes, but disappointed. I already bought the next year's language arts already because I didn't want to end up with it being sold out when my child needed the next level. It's so hard funding homeschool when we don't have a liveable household income quite yet(working on it). 😔 Homeschooling is absolutely worth it, but now I'm worried that if we don't buy this new one, my child and I will be at a disadvantage, just based on ease of use and more gentle sequential learning. We definitely struggle with it sometimes. Transitioning from the old to the new for the year after will also be a bit complicated since this set is grade level and the other was a grade ahead. I truly love the company and curriculum though, and I'm glad you're fine-tuning it! I really wish that a lot more warning would have been given in advance, just letting us know you had something in the works.

Honestly don’t worry at all! I finished up the “old” level 2 with one of my kids last year. It was a year that our state required standardized testing and that child placed at 5th grade levels for all language arts skills! I’m sure your kids will do great with either edition.

Oh, I can see how that might worry you, Aubrae, but I can tell you from my experiences as a homeschool mom since the early 2000s that whenever they have improved curriculum, it hasn't been because the old had something wrong with it, but because they found ways to make it even better. I used to buy only one model of minivan and loved each one. The new model usually had some cool features like extra cupholders or a heated steering wheel, but that didn't mean anything was wrong with the old one. I think you will find exactly the same with the curriculum.

Will the readers be available as printables? As an international homeschooler, this is my only worry. We're also very saddened by the use of apps. We will have to reassess when it comes out and decide if we need to switch curriculums for our screen free kids

Hi Katia! We will be releasing a homeschool app which will be a tremendous resource and make it easy and quick for you to access resources. We will also be introducing a free Letter Tiles app that can be used in correlation with the lessons, and which has been a favorite with pilot families. However, it is optional. I agree with many of the commenters- every update has been an improvement, even when it didn’t seem like an improvement was necessary, so I’m excited to see what’s ahead. My biggest question is this- if the scope and sequence is going to change, does that mean there will be a gap between levels 2 and 3? Or does the change in scope and sequence mean that the levels will be different but they will still ultimately start and end in approximately the same places? Or are changes in store for levels 3+ as well?

Because there is a new scope and sequence for levels preschool to Level 2, you will notice these changes when transitioning from the old curriculum to the new curriculum: Original Level K Primer to New Level K: The new Level K moves much more slowly at the beginning of the course. Your child should have no problem moving from the original Level K Primer to the new Level K course, although some children may find the first 20 lessons or so easy and will be able to move through them quickly. Original Level K to New Level 1: If your child completed the original Level K, there will be no problem moving to the New Level 1, although much of the first unit of the new Level 1 will be review for the child, and the child may be able to move through the lessons more quickly. Original Level 1 to New Level 2: If your child completed the original Level 1, there will be no problem moving to the New Level 2, although much of the first unit of the new Level 2 will be review for the child, and the child may be able to move through the lessons more quickly. We are currently working on creating a new edition of Level 3 that will be released in early summer 2023, and it will be the perfect bridge between the new Level 2 and our current Level 4. If you take a full school year to complete the New Level 2, the new Level 3 will be ready for you when you need it for the next school year. We will not be redoing Level 4 as it is already aligned to an average Grade 4 level. The shift in scope and sequence to be more on grade level allows for children to easily transition from current editions to our new editions.

We have actually seen a decrease in most international shipping costs with our switch from USPS International to FedEx®. We so wish there was more we could do! We are constantly keeping tabs on this subject. A lot of our international customers purchase the downloads and either have the items printed at a print shop or purchase a nice printer and print the items at home. It is definitely not as convenient, but once you have prepared the courses, they are pretty much open and go for the whole course. We hope this helps! 💛

Our family loves TGTB, but I will admit that we feel stressed with these constant updates. I never know if the next level will be in stock, or if it will bridge into the next level if I buy it a year in advance when it "is" in stock. I feel like I'm sitting on the edge of my seat with all of these changes. I'm excited that your company is growing, and that you're listening to those with concerns... but I would also love to complete a survey so you know that there are those of us out there who are happy with what you currently sell. The current level 2 LA is perfect. I couldn't imagine that changing. I'm also stressed about levels being considered ahead of grade level, then watered down, gaps between levels during updates, etc. It's overwhelming.

Thank you for your comments. The lessons have shortened and the pacing has become more gentle, but the effectiveness with which children learn to read, write, and spell has improved and increased. The sequence is much more streamlined, focusing on principles in a very sequential way and building upon prior knowledge. The lesson formats have been improved. Many more geography principles are integrated. The new courses also use a new optional Letter Tiles app to assist with spelling practice. We hope this helps! The current Levels K Primer, Level K, Level 1, and Level 2 Language Arts are being discontinued and are currently available for 50% off while supplies last. Our current editions will only be available until they are sold out. PDFs will likely be removed at that time as well so we suggest downloading any free courses you would like to access now!

I'm getting frustrated by these updates. Why the continual revamping of LA and Math? These programs were already solid. I could understand upgrading them if everything else had already been attended to, but that is not the case. A few examples: I've lost track of how many times my kids have asked when the meteorology course will be finished (the old one isn't even available for purchase). There is also still no attention to foreign language. Many parents are concerned about the lack of higher level courses. We love and support TGATB but I'm getting to dread these "surprises."

Because their website used to have all the plans for their Greenleaf full high school curriculum, but they nixed that and only have language arts now. Remember when they stopped the release of highschool science right before it was to be released? Instead of fixing the issue they cut it out all together to focus on the lower grades.

@Dr. Burns, PhD Feedback, both positive and negative, is beneficial to businesses. For those of us who have been waiting 1 - 2 years for other updates, a new LA course is not good news. We are frustrated that resources that could be going into courses that are useful to us are being allocated elsewhere. I find it sad that respectfully communicating our priorities to TGATB, so they can better understand their customer base, is being labeled "complaining." TGATB can't be expected to prioritize effectively if customers are silent.

I’m trying to remain positive but I’m a little nervous about the mention of an app. Children this young are already exposed to more then enough screen time. I don’t want to have to use an app for homeschool. We are on level one for language and math and we do not use the videos for spelling numbers. We much prefer the rhyming paper we used in level k math last year instead of the videos.

My kiddo can not use apps... she is spectrum and she stops communicating with to much screen time... it's like a wall goes up and we can't get through... with out screens most wouldnt know she is spectrum. We live a constant balancing act... we picked TGTB because it was paper! Medically, those with virtual autism in the home can not get around this... having optional apps is okay but can we please make sure the course isnt dependent on them.

The Good and the Beautiful will not be creating a Bible study curriculum, as that particular project is much harder to stay non-denominational and still fit each family's needs. How long will the new lessons take? when I tried the books from a few years ago language lessons took 45-60 minutes of me sitting with each child and I just can not do they teaching three grades to my older kids and having 2 sets of twins toddlers and babies. I’d love to try this new language but really wanting to know how long it will take prior to buying . Abeka takes me maybe 15 minutes per lesson for younger grades and maybe 15-25 minutes for 4th grade

TGTB language is at an advanced level compared to public school. Will this remain the same or will it be sliding back to be more in line with schools ?

We had a huge piloting group, and that was an immense help in making sure the pacing, interest level, and academic level was just right for each age group. You guys better stop doing this to me! jaja! now I´m all exited all over again! Living abroad, the availability of your curriculum in PDF has been a huge blessing. English is our second language, so the current kindergarten LA curriculum was a little tough on my little one, but still very doable, I have a feeling I will love the makeover though. This is frustrating. As a big family it's valuable that we can pass things down to our younger children while also gaining confidence as the teacher knowing we've done it before and it worked. We love the language arts program but it seems like it's outdated before we are even done too often. Some of the other subjects are in need of far greater attention from this company.

I agree with you. I'm also worried that there won't be any higher levels by the time my kids get there because all the focus has been on redoing the younger levels over and over 😔

I agree. While your updates have never failed to disappoint, it is frustrating as a mother of a large family to find the “feel” of teaching the material keeps shifting slightly. While I’m sure I can find ways to integrate the “old” personal/shared readers with the new formats, it will certainly not be as seamless. Reusing the readers and other course items have helped keep costs down for us. Perhaps a focus on improving some of the other TGTB materials would be helpful. Why fix something that isn’t broken?

I think to just simply suggest purchasing an already outdated old version of something is completely dismissive of the feelings of frustration. It's not the point and idk how to explain why this would be disappointing to be happening again so soon.

Thank you for keeping so much of your curriculum free! The new math program has been amazing for my 2nd and 4th graders (especially the videos that start in 4th!). I have looked at other curriculums recently for other subjects and the lack of graphics, real-life examples (math) and just overall visual experience was nothing compared to The Good and the Beautiful! When will the new history curriculum be released?! Anxiously awaiting...!!
