I enjoyed the hell out of this book. Your negatives are spot on but didn’t bother me too much. The wit and banter was exceptional. I am so excited to see what Dolan does next.

Loved the book - not sure I agree re Julian being a sociopath/bad character and Edith allowing Eva to grow. I found Edith really problematic when she started pressing Eva to move out of the flat. One thing I did not like is the first person narrative. I have never met a 22-year-old speaking like this, let alone using some of the vocabulary Eva is using. I think a third person narrative would have been so much better. The political/linguistic commentary was excellent, and I cannot wait to follow Dolan's journey. Thank you for the review.

How ludicrous are we all that we actually believe we should-and will-have ourselves figured out at 25. What a ridiculous life that would be, lol. We just remain unchanged for the next 60 years. Yikes. I loooove the growth I’ve gone through in my 30s. It’s been the most rewarding part of my life, easily. I’m excited for you, really. So much still to learn. It’s fun. Secondarily, you might be the only person I’ve ever known who has a part on either side of their head. So your hair wants to go both ways all the time. It defies science. People will study you some day.

I've heard a few people deep into their thirties telling me it's the best decade. That makes me very happy to hear! As for my hair, it's literally a result of me recently switching from towel to hairdryer. Now it just softly flows and flops this way and that at will. It's like magic.
