RIP Evans Evans Brasfield Killed, Suspect Charged by Dean Adams Friday, September 15, 2023 There were probably a good many people who work in motorcycle press not getting much sleep last night, all staring at the ceiling wondering how this could possibly be real. Yesterday it was announced that veteran motojournalist Evans Brasfied had been killed in a street accident on Wednesday afternoon in Southern California. Brasfield had worked at many of the major motorcycle magazines and web sites over the last 20 years, including Superbikeplanet. Brasfield was one of the most well-liked people in motorcycle press. He was known for his genial and positive attitude, along with his irreverent if not goofy sense of humor. He was a very capable, accomplished writer and photographer. He also was renown as being one of the most proficient motorcyclists in the press corps. He was not another balding punk pulling wheelies for his own stroking; Brasfield was a professional rider and test rider. Thus it came as a universal shock to those that knew him to learn he'd been fatally injured in a street crash. Of course anybody can make a mistake but Evans was such a respected rider with a razor sharp skill set that suggesting that he'd gotten into a bad situation was almost unthinkable. But, what do we know for sure? We know that as American humorist Garrison Keillor said many years ago "Any show can be your last show." News broke this morning that the police have arrested a driver allegedly involved in the crash that killed Evans. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Altadena Office stated that they had arrested a person involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist in the area where Evans crashed and died. Evans is survived by his wife and two daughters. - ends - superbikeplanet.com/story/528/evans-brasfield-killed-suspect-in-custody

Rest in peace "Fireball"! "Fireball" was his nickname from racing at Willow Springs when his EX500 caught fire. That happened before I met him in 1998. He will always be remembered by me as the rider who ran off Turn 1 at Willow, dirt tracked across to Turn 2 and rejoined the race to win!
@Waldo1122 Жыл бұрын
100% guaranteed the person that hit him was driving drunk or under the influence of drugs. Highways Patrols aka Road Pirates don't care about drunk drivers since they're going below the speed limit and switching lanes without signals.

8:46 Yea but its way to small for a typical phone now. The added fan is a plus. I usually put "things" in there i don't want in my pocket. The phone goes on the trippleclamp. That pocket needs to be big enough for a typical phone to house a typical phone. Otherwise its just a cubby to put small things in that are smaller than your phone.

Ducati thank you for a dream bike - if I could only have one bike - this is it!💪🏽🏍️
@marcusgeorge1825 Жыл бұрын
Why? For the track it’s still a compromise. Like beefing up an SUV when their are much more suitable bikes already in the stable. As a 50 year old ex Australian Superbike racer, who still occasionally competes with track specific bikes I also like the comfort and midrange torque the valve spring actuated multi strada provides. Plus the longer service intervals it provides too.
@bogian81 Жыл бұрын
I'm 100% with you, I have a V4 pikes peak and don't really see a reason to upgrade to this one. Better off just buying a panigale for the track (the "2 bikes! that's too much money" argument doesn't really hold water when talking about a 40K dollar/euro bike)
@marcusgeorge1825 Жыл бұрын
@@bogian81 Well said. It can also be a cheaper alternative for track day enthusiasts to buy a used race bike that is a couple of seasons old. They will have had possibly 3 times the value of a brand new bike already spent on them with the engine and components being well maintained. Plus if you do end up finding your limits and go down they are also a lot cheaper to repair. Food for thought.

I am a lifetime rider and like anyone in our community, I also have memories of those who have lost their lives in motorcycle accidents. Ours is a dangerous hobby/pastime/sport. I did not know this person, but he reminds me of all those I have lost. The Multistrada has always been a "if you can only have one" bike for me. But now that I am retired and cannot afford a motorcycle any longer, it will always be a dream. But phew, would I love to get on one and take one of those bucket list rides around the USA...or to Tierra del Fuego...or Africa...or....

Thing is--the RS NOT losing "just a little bit of torque". I have seen Ducati's secret not for public--dealer only dyno graphs of both meters laid over each other. The standard V4 wallops the RS from lift-off to 10,000 RPMs by 15-18 horsepower (So of course, bags of torque too)! They geared it lower as band-aid to get back some grunt. Love to see a RS vs V4 standard do a roll-on in say 5th gear--from 50-mph to 120 mph. I have a Pikes Peak V4--but if I wanted a track bike/tourer--I'd probably wander down to BMW and look at the much lighter, way more powerful, new XR1000M and have carbon wheels to boot--at much cheaper price.

Who needs that beautiful, great bike? Not me, I stick further 100% to my brutal 2012 1200S, totally modified fork and shock. There is torque where you want it. And it revs up, even fully loaded with my wife and 3 cases. When did I use those 150 HP on public roads. Those times are over. I used it 35y ago. There are better bikes for the race track. For me only a true Ducati racer, not streetable! Street or track, but not both together.

I live in Italy near Milan and I have owned a Multi V4S Full for about a year and I am really satisfied. However, I would like to switch to a more "sporty" Multistrada because I don't do much road but I like a more agile bike and on both fast and narrow mixed routes. Which do you recommend? Pikes Peak or RS? Thanks so much for the advice. Furthermore, I would like to know from you experts whether the heat released under the rider's saddle has been reduced or not since in the height of the summer season it turns out to be very annoying. Thanks again for the clarification.

I cant help to think Ducati is waiting for the competition to release a machine to one up the RS then they counter act by putting the V4 Desmo top end on the 1158cc bottom end . I'm curious what cams are in the RS? Or did the degree the cams to come on sooner? Or did they just limit the rpm to 13.2k? If the last is reality, we can just flash them to V4 Panigale specs...but the thought of the 1158 V4 Desmo sounds nasty ..I hope they do that for the V4 Pani..this is coming from a V4 Speciale owner

Yes, we asked for it and Ducati eventually listened. However, four years later. Not to pour cold water on this excellent development, this is what it should have been in 2020. Frankly and only imho, the ADV segment is losing steam. I have an awesome MTS 1260 Pikes Peak with a V2 Desmo engine. When the time comes, it's going to be replaced by a SuperSport Desmo V4 should Ducati build a big brother to its excellent SS 950S.

I don't see the point of this bike. I love me some Desmo valves, a dry clutch and tri color paint job (i own a Corse), but one of the big selling points of the V4 was the service intervals. For me, this bike doesn't suit either track duty or touring especially well, and for 40k I could get a Panigale V4 for the track AND a used multi v4 for the road😅 RIP to Evans🙏🏾

Each bike will be numbered, but not limited production means I am going to charge you more and you are going to feel great. What's another Italian did that and Failed? Panerai! Pinnacle of Italians running out of ideas or getting bored with the Multi line up. $40K? No thanks! Even the Base Multi V4S went up in pricing like crazy so they had to hide the Freight to show less of an MSRP. Ducati wants to be like Ferrari, but it is just a Glorified Fiat.

Other than virtue signaling, why is it so cool that the project lead is a woman? What does her gender bring to the project that someone of a different gender could not have brought to the team as project lead? Or is it time to make sure that the next project lead is non-binary or transgendered for the same reason. Why can't she be judged as a great project lead without consideration of her gender? Helping Ducati bring a great product market has nothing to do with the fact that she is a woman.
