Exclusive access to Not Like Us Video shoot in Compton
In this heartfelt video, I dive into the positive influence Kendrick Lamar has had on the city of Compton, reflecting on our shared childhood experiences. Growing up, Kendrick and I spent countless hours playing basketball, laughing, and enjoying the simple pleasures of being kids. We met at the NFL Yet Center on Rose Cranston Central, where we were both mentored by the incredible Kenneth Jackson.
Kenneth Jackson embodied positive Black leadership, profoundly shaping our views on the world and what it means to become men. Our time at the NFL Yet Center was transformative, steering us away from the streets and mischief. Instead, we found joy in sports and camaraderie, under the guidance of a strong, positive role model.
Though I haven't had the chance to reconnect with Kendrick much since those days, apart from occasional shows and events, I cherish the memories and believe that the NFL Yet Center experience was a lifesaver for both of us. Today, I celebrate Kendrick's success as the number one artist in the world, especially with "They Not Like Us." His achievements continue to uplift and inspire our community in Compton, showcasing the power of positive influence and mentorship.
