Both Zeewolf games were ex 10:54 cellent. The first one was more A500-friendly, as it would run smoother than the second one. I played the second one on my 68030 A1200 and it was a blast. I still go back to it from time to time for the challenge (it can get quite hard later on in the game). The gfx have not aged well, but unlike other early 3d games they still retain some weird charm about them, same as Frontier and Combat Air apatrol (great flight sim from psygnosis that also benefits a lot from a stock or accelerated A1200).

I only ever had an A500, and other than the A1200 that a friend of mine had, I've not experienced more powerful Amigas in real life. I did in emulation though, but that's hardly the same. So, many of these more demanding games I either played just a little or years later on PC. Frontier, is one of my all time faves. Not only on Amiga, but overall out of all games ever made. And some of my best gaming memories include it.

@@OldAndNewVideoGames I easily spent more than 300 hours on Frontier. It is also one of my favorite games of all time. Well, if you can, find the patch that allows you to take advantage of rtg and 68060 for Alien Breed 3d 2 the killing grounds and give that a try on emulation. You are in for a treat with the game on full screen, full detail and running buttery smooth. By far the best fos on Amiga, better even than the overhyped (but still good) Genetic Species. Also since we are talking about beefed up Amigas, there is a patch for F1 GP (the Microprose one) that allows it to go super smooth on an upgraded machine. Give that a try as well

@@jimkrom Yeah, I've probably played it even more but mostly on PC. I never had a powerful Amiga, and even though I played Frontier on it a lot, when I moved to PC and could run it at ungodly speeds, it was when it truly allowed me to immerse myself in its world. Talking about powerful Amigas though, I do wanna get one. Well, either A1200 with a Turbo Card and Extra RAM or A600. I'd be losing AGA chipset but it's in a compact and sexy case, so hard to pick one. It's not gonna happen any time soon though, as they are arguably more expensive now than they've ever been, but "one day". :)

Here's an Amiga exclusive: Scorpio (1988). It's a vertical shooter where one of the powerups you can get is a weapon's pod, similar to R-Type. In fact, I've described it as a vertical R-Type. It's not as good, and quite hard though. I never made it very far into the game. I think I only ever got to the second level.

Worth noting that Virtual Karting colours don't look correct unless you play on a real CRT monitor. Zeewolf definitely feels like a spiritual successor to Virus. I personally quite like the 3D aesthetic of games like zeewolf and virus. Has definitely aged better than other filled polygon 3D games.

Ruffian is new to me. It looks like a DOS game, if you see what I mean? It’s not bad looking but from what you’ve said I don’t think I’ll bother? Super Gem’z doesn’t thrill me either & same for The Strangers. Venom Wing may be the coolest title ever? The game is actually pretty good in my opinion, even if it is a little zoomed in but as you said, one for Shmup fans. Tyran is interesting? The pre-rendered graphics haven’t aged well & the Polish will need some guess work (or messaging you screen shots at 2AM 😄) but seems worth a go? I think I learned about Virocop from you not long ago & it is actually kind of a gem. I’m curious about T-Zero? I don’t think I’ve played an Amiga game from 1999? That alone makes it worth trying. One of these days I will get around to converting an old PowerPC Mac in to a super Amiga. Transplant certainly was a choice for a title but as you suggested game names could be pretty random back then. Good game though. Virtual Karting sure is… interesting. Seriously though it’s an interesting tech demo but not really a game. Zeewolf 2 is another I think I learned about from you & if you’re in to that kind if game it is pretty good. It’s dated obviously but it’s challenging fun. Great list with quite a few I don’t know, thanks.

I get what you mean about Ruffian. It has this style of loose, as in on ice surface slidy movement that the early PC platformers had too. Unless it's not what you had in mind. xD Tyran definitely deserves a look. And if I'm to be honest, story can be skipped entirely, and you can just take it as is. Just don't hope for too much, Moonstone it is definitely not. And yeah, Virocop is a surprise to nearly anyone who tries it. Cause it doesn't look too appealing on the screens, how we've would've learned about it back in the day, and you just gotta experience it, to appreciate it. Out of curiosity, are you serious about that PowerMac thing? I mean CPU would be fully compatible but everything else... Unless you mean treating Mac as a doner, and just take the CPU out and mount it on some turbo card? If not, and you have another idea - I'm curious, keep me posted. :) Both Zeewolf games, while technically totally playable on smaller Amigas, were better on the faster ones. I didn't had one back then, so I have very little melancholy for the games. As usual, thanks for watching! The next one will be Win 1997, and then... I don't know. Either another DOS video, as I'm starting to get really deep into the obscure, and it's surprisingly extra fun on my end when working on the videos, or maybe Amiga Ex. It would be the 10th, so could allow me to end first season. Perhaps a virtual achievement only, but an achievement nonetheless. ;)

MorphOS is intended to be a modern Amiga OS that runs on old PowerPC Macs as the last Amigas were PowerPC based. It even has an integrated 16bit Amiga emulator. wikipedia.org/wiki/MorphOS I have a G4 PowerBook that would make for an epic Amiga laptop, just needs a new keyboard but I also have 2 G4 Cubes, so one could go Amiga.
