My husbands family were jamdani weavers 3 generations ago from Bangladesh. When I see the Dhakais I get goose bumps. My husband picks out clothes for me - aesthetically very fine in terms of color and designs. I wondered where it came from - until I traced the ancestry. Thanks

Jamdani muslin - more so because this cotton has to grown under the least polluted atmosphere. That what gives the *cotton its tenacity* and which can be passed down to generations. The British royalty came searching for these fabrics and it has been circulated only among the royalties in the past and it still does. Before the Internet it was mostly available for the upper wealthy echelon of the society. Coming to the weaves, this cotton thread is very thin yet very strong and so to weave requires *dexterity* . *Imagine counting the different colors of threads during weaving* - it is math with vibrant colors - the skill was passed down thru generations and it would take *15-20 years to master the skill*. It is a very intricate art form and the Basak community that originates from Bangladesh holds the key. Thanks
