Oribe-ryu Tea Ceremony featuring Beihaku Ozaki
During the 16th century a Buddhist Monk named Sen-No-Rikyu fused together key aspects of refined Japanese culture and created the philosophy of sado “the way of tea” and the tea ceremony as it is known today was born.Furita Oribe, one of Rikyu’s seven disciples would establish his own “school” of tea ceremony, which through centuries of major upheaval, death and rebirth would become known as the “forbidden school of sado”...

Since i was 8 i had to imagine the tea ceremony i have read about in the "101 storie zen" book, in italian. Now more than 30 years has passed and i have had a superbly produced video version of it, so thankyou very much

I cannot understand how videos of this quality have so few views. Surely there's a big KZbin-sized gap in your marketing plan?

I wonder what distinguished Oribe-ryu's style of tea ceremony from the (probably more "canon") Sen no Rikyu style.

While both styles share the core principles of chanoyu, emphasising mindfulness, respect and the appreciation of beauty, the Sen no Rikyu style is characterised by its austere simplicity and spiritual depth, while the Oribe school, founded by Rikyu's disciple Furuta Oribe, is known for its innovative, dynamic and expressive qualities.

@@thekansaiguide Thank you. I've visited Kyoto back in 2014 but I haven't had the chance to experience tea ceremony. Have to plan a revisit. :D
