As of the release of this video, the first three HH52s are already in production (2 forward helm SC boats and 1 aft helm SC boat), but it will be another year until the first hull launches. We put over 50,000 labor hours into each of our HH52s, so it is worth the wait (but still so hard to do so)!

Very, very impressive. The forward helm SC version is a solo sailor's dream. How is the HH after-sales support? Outremer and Dazcat have some very appealing after-sales support offerings, haven't seen HH talk about that aspect (but that's likely me not getting beyond daydreaming about one!).

Our Warranty covers the Hull and Structures for 5 years (which is very long compared to most within the industry), two years for the paint, mast and standing rigging, and essentially one year on everything else. All equipment installed starts its manufacturer warranty on the day you receive your yacht. As for dealing with a Warranty repair, we ask that you work directly with us so that we can be involved in the repair of the vessel (regardless of the component that failed). You can do this by calling us directly (you’ll have our phone numbers) or emailing a dedicated email address we provide to our owners. We typically respond within hours. We also have a network of Agents and Service Centers we work with around the world to provide our customers with the very best after sales service, regardless if you are first owner or second hand owner.

Really stunning boat, love it, especially the forward cockpit! The sleek lines when removing the "eyebrow" makes a huge difference to the look, but those also had a purpose to keep the saloon cool. The older Privilege boats had these same gorgeous lines but turned the saloon into ovens and had to have shade overs covers over the windows on them at all times reducing visibility. Heavy tinting or coatings could help, but then that also reduces forward visibility especially at dusk, considering the rear helm position require you to be able to see through isn't this a problem? How are you overcoming this thermal issue on this new 52 design?

The beauty of this new update is that the forward windows flip open, so when the sun is out and things start to heat up you can swing open those front tinted windows and both shade the dash and allow cool air to flow in. If you prefer to keep them closed you can lower the salon shades and run the 56,000 BTUs of air conditioning off the 43.2kWh batteries alone! We're pretty happy with the overall design and functionality of this new boat.

All boats a series of compromises for sure and if the worst-case scenario is having to run the A/C that is powered from 100% from solar I suppose that's a first world problem I could deal with👍

Yes, we have a rain capture (gutter) that runs the entire perimeter around the coach roof that is also the hand hold. Once you get to the forward windows you have the cap shroud and daggerboards to also hold onto.

Other boats may have different performance goals and/or different designs (materials, width, etc.?). 9:17 The straight OC boards aren't quite as massive as the SC boards, so I suppose they would be slightly lower performing (but more manageable) to fit the OC model better.

You need to have the throttle controls on the outside of the helm so that a person controling lines while docking has throttle control right there.

Straight and curved daggerboards, that's fantastic. Would love to know more about the pros/cons to the two. I'm assuming straight daggers are cheaper to build and possibly more reliable with the closet design and such? Would Z boards be a realistic option?

We are not offering Z boards (yet :), but yes, the straight boards are cheaper. Those will be much like all the other yachts on the market and will be produced out of fiberglass with a foam core (although ours will use the highest grade resin: Epoxy) and the load limits on the straight boards will not be as high as the curved boards. The curved boards are a bit more complex as they are baked in an oven to utilize Pre-Preg Carbon construction and the boards do induce some displacement lift when sailing at around 10 knots. The curved boards also use bearings and other lifting mechanisms not used with a straight board. Hope that helps!

Now I'm curious how many degrees you can pinch closer to windward with curved vs straight boards. All the comparisons I've read about have been mini keels vs daggerboards in general. If I was going to buy a sailboat and I would would be more than likely to buy one from you, any that I would buy I would extend the coach roof back to the davit for the tender. make the davit a part of the structure and support it at the back with stout poles that look good and are functional. That would give you extra area for solar and hoist the tender up higher and provide extra measurement for long ocean crossings. I would offer that as an extra on all models. In one video I saw a system for the shaft between the engine and the props where there was a device that could power the props in lieu of the engine for a short time. I would want diesel engines in both hulls so if one stops running you still have one that does. Is there a way to allow rudders that hit something to be able to deflect out of that way to minimize potential damage to them and to protect the prop in a way like the high end motor vessels use skegs to protect their props and the hull configuration protects their props from damage in case of beaching or other problem? Two of my favourite sailors have bought one of your 44s and that is how I found out about your boats and I followed Seth until he got a real job.🤣

We did extend the coach roof to go well past the aft beam on this boat, but we opted to keep the dingy low and out of the way so as not to obstruct the view. With the considerably high bridge deck clearance of this yacht, we do not need to raise the davits any higher than the top of the aft beam sofa, so the tender location is quite frankly perfect. If you wanted even more solar (not that you need more than 4,632 watts) then you could still put solar over the davits. One last thing, on both the HH44 and the HH52 we use line drivers to hoist the dingy (no more grinding a winch)!

The HH 50 SC is already a sleek, beautiful and fast catamaran, however she has two problems : 1- Absence of forward cockpit with door, seat and cushions 2 - it is not possible to have convertible sofa in the salon where to relax or sleep for 2 people during long passage. Hope you fix this issue because this what prevent me from buying a HH Catamaran.

Just throwing floorplans out here. I've turned into a minor youtube catamaran design addict this year; I think I've seen every manufactured cat online. And - lessons learned? I don't think you nailed this 52 design and here's why ... 1. I like the front helm of the performance catamaran Windelo 52 with 2) its Bali-styled (fully enclosable as an option) salon as well. 3) Add a simple front sitting well area, immediately behind the tramps of 4) taller-chined hull (minimizing salt spray and cleaning/maintenance is important - similar to Catana's Bali hulls) and 5) smaller trampolines - the weight diff is small while the cruise livability is great. A Bali 5.4 placed 5th in the 2019 ORC, so its tall hulls are no performance slouch. The front nav station offers great social, stable sailing, visibility, and great living spaces. 6) A nice-to-have second sailing helm on a simple flybridge is a great second spot to squirrel away to - for charter boats, or when the weather cooperates and you want to be up high. 7) If you want more room for solar, look to new higher efficiency solar panel tech (one type captures solar energy at night), or regen props on electric drives, or new stationary non-spinning wind turbines, or to Sunreef-like inlaid solar cells (on the hull sides, mast, etc.) That's the perfect sailing cat - as I can see. 8) I see many legacy designers clinging to sailing chair designs that hang out over the rear left and right - almost at the sugar scoops. That might be a fun tiller-sail for a half hour - as a novelty, but once the suntan lotion max's out, it's more of a torture chamber I should think. 9)For powered/electric cats (off topic I realize), I think Silent Yachts 120 has nailed a winning design by emulating (copying really) the world's fastest car-ferry catamaran design. Other than its GRP hull (aluminum would be better), I'd say it's a proven-efficient hull that would stand up to any sea state. If that design could harness the wind, it might be a big hit in the performance or explorer cat marketplace. 10) Last but not least. Those ceiling brows are there to keep the sun and heat out of the salon; I'd go to negative windows up front before removing the sun protection. That browless front window - isn't a modern look; your naval architect almost swallowed his tongue when you suggested it. Politely: Hone listening skills - be careful of strong personality and unintentional authority overrides that might bite you in the butt. I'd love to see this HH line do well with you at the helm AND hey, what do I know? It's a bit of a guessing game in the end. The market leaders are there based on their low price (Lagoon) and livability (Bali). I think Silent has sold 100+ boats as well. No one cares if it's the fastest, and doesn't sell; I'd be market testing the heck out of what you put forward here - and see how many me's there are.

Hi Ed, thanks for the reply. Every single inch of the yacht is considered carefully and the ramifications of all design decisions are weighed. I hope our future videos help explain why we made the decisions we did, but briefly: 1) By adding two doors instead of the Windelo plastic windows, you can leave the windward door half open and prevent any sea spray from entering the salon (all spray will hit the leeward door). 2) You CANNOT have a bali styled front bow section and not widen the hulls underneath. Wider hulls are like plows in the water and while a Bali might sail downwind, that is the only way it can sail. It is a motor sailor up wind and any true performance catamaran will not be. It also cannot sail in light air. A long trampoline is the best indicator for performance and can also become a shaded living space with bean bag chairs versus a poorly designed foot well and sofa. 3) With forward opening windows you don't care about needing an eyebrow - and with 58,000 BTUs of AirCon you don't worry about running the AC (without a generator). Stay tuned. We will continue to explain why this yacht is probably the single best cruising yacht ever imagined.

Ist looks great! In my eyes the helmstations so far back (movement) with all the lines cluttering this lovely places where we use to lay down during cruising are not for me, I would go with the forward helm. But the tiller seats seem to stand out quite far, I would be worried about damaging them during docking.

Seth, listen to most sailers out there....why slanted forward and side windows? Either straight up windows or negative rake windows to reduce glare and directs sun. The lower window border depicts the border of your salon, might as well maximize your interior space by having straight up windows or negative rake windows increasing the roof area for increased solar area or bigger rain water collection surface area.

Because straight windows are not aerodynamic, they look ugly and they allow us to extend the "dashboard" area of the boat forward of the coachroof, giving a larger sense of space in the Salon and more workable areas for electronics. I'd say the only real negative is the greenhouse effect of a slanted window, but with the forward opening windows this should not be a problem when it is sunny (plus the boat can come with shades and 56k BTU of AirCon). There is always a trade off, but this one we were happy to make.

@@HHCatamarans at the speed cats do, aerodynamics above water wont affect much as the wind will most likely be from the side or some degree from the rear. Hull design will affect speed and of course sails. I love the straight up or negative rake windows, like the Portofino. Ifyou doing speeds ove 100mph, yes but not at 20 knots.

We have tested the solar panels and even at extremely high temperatures the panels are outputting their stated power generation. Yes, cooling them would be more efficient, but not as cosmetically good looking or walkable. This is a good compromise.

Just a question regarding the angle of the front glass. You are not going to "cook" yourself inside during a hot summer day. Is not worth checking the Portofino Catamarans approach to this, like that you don't get more top area for solar and more shade for the inside? Hull 01 is out of the molds and the inner hull has been joined with the topsides hull with bulkheads installed. This means we are still a little over a year from completion. Since this is Hull 01 we also expect it to take a little bit longer than an HH50 build as we will want to ensure it's done right the first time. We can't wait to see this boat on the water - hopefully debuting at the October Annapolis Boat Show in 2024. Hull 01 is a SCF (Forward Cockpit) model.
