The fact Pete turned his experiences into a positive direction and has since become a successful adult should be admired not scorned. I used to be a background investigator for the government after having served over 30 years in the Military. When we investigate and ultimately decide on a person's trustworthiness, we always look at mitigating circumstances. In Pete's case, when I look at his tours overseas to some of the most God-forsaken places on earth, alcohol abuse, marriage problems, infidelity almost assuredly were the by-product of what our elected leaders sent folks like him to do. And I'm sure Pete would not hide behind that as an excuse. The reality is that a majority of us have no idea what our military members deal with when deployed. And let's not forget the people that sent them to these awful locations and then question and judge their behavior when they come back to the States. It's despicable! Lastly, we are going to question Pete's character and abilities, yet forgo the actions of our current Sec Def. MIA for over a week due to surgery and was part of the Afghanistan withdraw that took the lives of 13 soldiers. Where are our elected leaders to force his resignation for very recent questionable behavior? Give me a break!
@dragineeztoo61Күн бұрын
It's not "very recent questionable behavior". It goes back many years and two marriages ago. He's a cheater. A serial cheater. He measures his worth by "strokes". I've known dozens of guys like this (and so have you), and I don't trust them. To betray your marriage, your children, and your colleagues because you're horny doesn't count. And it isn't even sexual arousal, it's a show of dominance. This is not a good character trait, it's not a good mental trait. Both women and men cheat, some simply aren’t capable of a monogamous relationship that’s where I think he is. Beyond that I am absolutely sick of the Bible thumping crap from him! “It is the ……year of our Lord” “Go to church” “we are missing God in our schools” on and on and on while he’s out bedding down with whatever will appease him for that time. It reminds me of the Pope scolding Americans that don’t welcome illegal’s {paraphrasing of course} while the Catholic Church is one of the worse purveyors of child s*xual abuse, hiding and moving priests around to keep things quiet. Clean your own f$cking kitchen before you preach to the rest about behavior. Also, who would put their kids, parents, extended families through this kind of public scrutiny, knowing that it will be brought up? Pete is a warrior! That's where it stops and starts. You know if you've been out in situations where you didn't think you were coming home multiple times! You might not feel too bad about having a little too much to drink. And it might not break your heart to just live in the moment and let the passion take you. For the Love of Christ! At least we know he's into of age women! I can see how a lot of these people in Washington may not understand that, but it would be a welcome change. At the end of the day, he's a man. And you cannot expect someone that's gone through three tours taking other people's lives and just been all around 100% USA Warrior! To act like a blue-blooded choir boy. There's not going to be one person that's questioning him during this, that will even come within one degree of the things he's done for this country. This stuff happened years ago, it wouldn't surprise me if he struggled quite a bit with the fact that he took lives in battle. That's not something you just go home sit down think about for a little bit and then move past. I think if you just look at the work he's been doing with fox, it's pretty clear that the man's moved out of that headspace long ago! As long as Trump's backing him, I'm back him 100%! As a matter of fact, I would want somebody that did all those things. Because you don't have to worry about him wondering what that's like because he's already been there and done it and got the shirt. And it puts him in a unique position to be able to have conversations with people that are far more in depth, as well as, the ability to see this behavior in others. It’s well known that people who leave the military and have been in combat, suffer from PTSD their eyes saw things that are not normal to the everyday person. A lot of people can be traumatized for the rest of their life having been through one incident. Many soldiers have reported they used alcohol to help them. They also report they have nightmares and passing out drunk keeps them from experiencing those nightmares. He sounds like a textbook example of a proud soldier, who refused to admit he was not dealing well with things. In regard to being drunk at work. I doubt he drank on the job, more so he went out until the bars closed, got home, slept a couple hrs if any and came to work. If the stories about him needing constant help finding, his way back to his room, is another confirmation that when he consumed alcohol, he could not control the intake of alcohol. Pointing to the fact he has an addiction to alcohol. I know many military veterans and countless stories of them abusing alcohol. Most say they are supposed to be a strong man and asking for help felt like weakness to them. Until they accepted the fact that alcohol and drugs do not discriminate and they do not have control over themselves. Drinking until you require supervision or assistance often accompanies many one night stands. When people are in addiction they are selfish. They do not care if their behavior hurts others. So unfortunately his wife suffered from his bad behavior. If you accept the fact you have an addiction, it controls you, you seek help and support. As well as stay sober, how long can we throw it into the addicts face? Especially if they accepted responsibility for their actions? So it sounds to me like Pete is probably a good guy minus alcohol. Only a dedicated person would do multiple tours of combat. I believe he respects the military. He wants to see it return to its roots. The important thing, is if a person has integrity, morals and values. Accepting responsibility for Poor decisions and poor judgment is a display of having morals and values.

For at least one of the organizations, I actually raised my right hand and took an oath to never allow my behavior, whether in an official or unofficial capacity, to bring reproach upon that organization or any other member thereof. Here is where I am with Pete Hegseth: It is obvious to me that his personal behavior has brought reproach upon the veterans organizations he was a part of; and himself. However, my question is this: Has he redeemed himself in any way? What is he like now, and has he changed? I know, if it were me, I would be so ashamed of my former behavior, I would never have accepted this nomination. He had to have known that his life would be subjected to public scrutiny and that the media would have a field day with his past indiscretions. If he has cleaned up his act, I would still like him for that position. However, what are the chances that he would just then bring reproach upon the Trump Administration and the office which he holds? Trump has a LOT on his plate, without having to deal with dirty scandal after another from bad behavior within his administration.
