In an exclusive interview with FRANCE 24, Fethullah Gulen - who is accused by Ankara of masterminding the July 2016 coup bid in Turkey - admits meeting a key figure in the failed coup. But the Turkish cleric says that a mere visit from one of his followers isn't proof he orchestrated the attempt to topple President Erdogan. Gulen, who has lived in exile in the United States since 1999, says he is "not worried" about the possibility of being extradited, despite Turkey’s extradition request.

Although he wanted to distance himself from politics and just present a modern moderate muslim point of view in dialogue, understanding and empathy with all other religions, after his movement grow very big the mingling of his supporters with the boiling politics in Turkey was inevitable. Many people that did not understood him including most of his followers turned against him and became more and more extremist as Erdogan started creating his dictatorship. Now the separation is very distict and any clear eyes can see the truth. You can even notice how extremist erdogan supporters are typing in the comments… You can check the current miserable and corrupt condition that the Turkey is in under Erdogans governance. On the other hand remaining followers of Gulen take him as an example of being a modern moderate muslim that has understanding, empathy and dialogue with all people all over the world.
