I'm a Tom Landry-era Dallas Cowboys fan..... since '64. Don Meredith was my first sports hero, then Chuck Howley and Bob Lilly. 'Ol #32 Walt Garrison was most definitely a favorite player of mine too. I've also had the privilege to see him bulldogging at rodeos. That was when he was a bit younger. What a tough, rough individual he was..... and probably still is. And obviously very comical. College and pro football are different games today. There are no more Walt Garrisons. God bless our pro football heroes from a bygone era.🏈

Yup, sadly the football that I grew up watching and the team I loved, no longer exists. Now, pro sports looks like a bunch of gangsters or thugs. Guys like this were a treasure.

A TRUE HERO, A GREAT COWBOY....WALT PLAYED WITH A BROLEN COLLARBONE IN THE 1970 NFC CHAMP GAME VS THE 49ERS..WATHC HIS RUNS....HE PLAYED THE NEXT WEEK. ALL COWBOYS FANS READ HIS BOOK. I HAVE TWO OF HIS AUTOGRAPHS....GO COWBOYS FROM PHILADELPHIA..COWBOYS FOR LIFE

You are correct! Walt Garrison did play with a broken collarbone. Walt is one of the toughest players to play in the NFL.

this is great stuff.... been a cowboys fan since 68 and cant get enought of stuff like this from the "old cowboys" ....thank you for posting and if you have more put em up..... i did see John niland ... thats was also great..... very interesting stuff... and these guys are really just down to earth stuff..... ive met many of the old ones including my favorite player of all time bob lilly..and they were all very classy Pugh...cole... andre....bob bruenig .... randy white...

Pete Gent, who wrote NDF, played for the Cowboys ('64-'68) while Walt was on the team. Not sure he influenced it.
