Exclusive: Jana Kramer Speaks Out About Surviving Abuse

The actress-turned-country music singer describes enduring years of domestic abuse at the hands of her first husband Michael Gambino, whom she said tried to kill her. Gambino was convicted of attempted murder and sent to prison.

If one has a diminished sense of self, they are more susceptible to getting entangled with narcissistic, unhealthy men...and codependent relationships

I believe that everyone should get out of an Abusive Relationship, weather its Physical, Mentally or Emotional. No one should ever have to live in fear of some one's hostility, neglect, especially some one else's lack of confidence and self control. No one is ever ment to be abused in any manner and should never stand for it. Once you see a person abusing you in any way get out of the relationship, you will never be able to change the person and the abuse will only get worse. Abuse is matter of control and when the person can't control you they will abuse and destroy you.

I am a survivor of just the same thing I could write a book on my partner how so many times I was hurt by him I found the strength one day and left him but this time he never found me I left with three children all under 6 years .but life can turn around the memories are in your head all the time I believe in karma and to day I was told he drop dead age 50 very young but strange to say I was sad

Christine Bories it is the hardest thing to break away from. 24yrs I dealt with abuse. I've been burnt, peed on, spit on, ran over w a truck, choked, whipped, and left out in middle of nowhere after being whipped, smothered, broken bones, from tailbone to vertebraes. I nearly died by his hands choking me nearly to death at his dad's grave site. He got by w it. Worst part is people who ask you why I stayed so long. As if it's my fault. I finally was able to get away. My six kids are victims too. I thank God I am alive.

Everytime I hear this it makes me feel so happy to be out of what I went through myself. Women are all too often too embarrassed to say anything and once your in this situation its extremely hard to get out and dangerous. People judge it but dont know what it's like until you get into this situation. I lost a baby because the abuse and was sex trafficked and scared every second of my life. I tried to commit suicide and that day I knew I had to become strong because no one else would do it for me and I did. He is now In jail awaiting a trail for 19 felonies which he committed against me and other charges. I pray I wont ever have to see him again

With so much awareness about domestic violence, you'd think that if someone punches a woman in the face, she'd run for the hills and never look back, but Rihanna has taught us that many women will gladly take a guy back even after he punches them in the face. During an Oprah interview, Rihanna cried and said that she wants Chris back even after he punched her in the face. This twisted female behaviour is hard to understand.

Joseph Bishara it’s not twisted. It’s not a behavior. Unless you are in a situation like this, you will not understand it. I’ve been in her shoes. I stayed for so long because my life was threatened. The other person threatened to take their own life if I ever left. They manipulate you. They make you feel as if your life is them and it’s not. It’s a psychological issue and many women should seek help if they are an abusive relationship like this, but don’t say it’s twisted. Don’t mock victims simple because you don’t understand.
