The mini fountain pen that you received actually pulls open to reveal a nib as well. You have to pull really hard (not twist) buts it’s cute. We got in-line around 9:30(ish) so we must have been close. It was fantastic seeing all of the like minded stationery lovers in one place. ❤
@PlanYourOneLife4 ай бұрын
I saw someone else open it, but every time that I pull it, it feels like it's going to snap and half. So, I gave up. 😅 I'd rather be able to still use it as a keychain. Aww, it would been great to meet you. If they have it next year, will you go?

It's awesome! The pages are about 80gsm...thicker than TRP, but great for fountain pens. The grid is 5mm. It lays flat when it's opened, too!

This was Yoseka’s Stationeryfest maiden voyage so I do understand the kinks with the long wait times. Hopefully they can trouble shoot and find a solution if they have another next year. Thanks for the peek in to the venue.

That's an amazing haul! I loved the variety of vendors at the event - I'm not big on fancy stationery items and still got a lot of wonderful art and stickers. I arrived at noon and there wasn't a huge line, but I wonder if the coordinators would do timed entries next year/a bigger space so there isn't hours of waiting and a crowd right at opening 😅 I was collecting stamps and shopping with my group and another customer very loudly started complaining about how we "weren't even buying anything" and was blocking the flow of traffic even though we were right against the table LOL

It was there first event, I expected everything not to go perfectly. I think that the staff tried their best to handle the unexpected amount of people. Next year, if they decide to do it again, they should choose a bigger event space to accommodate more people. I'm glad that you had a good time. Some people were a little bit pushy- too much excitement. 😆

@@PlanYourOneLifeFriday’s experience was amazing…what happened was that my wife, who couldn’t make it, loved the pens from TACCIA so much that she asked if I could go back on Friday to get some more! I had taken that day off anyway but didn’t have an advance ticket or prepaid parking spot (8 blocks away!) but wanted to make my wife happy so took the chance…I had no traffic this time, found free street parking one block away and got in to the show too! Ms Lin was so happy that I returned that she gave me a bottle of ink, two leather pen cases and even a pen! I had upgraded my wife’s pen to a gold nib, and because of her generosity I bought yet another pen and another bottle of ink too! I wish I got one or two of her Japanese kimono pen sleeves, but had run out of budget, lol. My wife was happily I can report 😊

Brittany, this is the BEST Stationery Fest vlog and haul I've seen. Kudos to your husband for filiming there. The shots were well composed. I planned to go to Stationery Fest, but my brother is sick, and I didn't know if he would feel up to going, and I couldn't enjoy myself if he wasn't. (Thankfully, he's doing well.) But by the time I knew, the tickets were all sold out. I knew I would love Stationery Fest because I've been to pen shows and a stationery trade show and loved them. As for the rose gold nib replacement, have you tried calling The Fountain Pen Hospital in Lower Manhattan? My husband and my brother love that store. The notebook is beautiful and unusual. Don't feel guilty about buying another notebook.

Hello I just found your channel, because I was looking to show some videos of the Fest to my wife who couldn’t make it last week…thank you for sharing. I was disappointed that there were no vintage/used pen dealers, but I was still so excited by the show! I discovered PENLUX, TACCIA, and STÜDYO AĞACKANAN (from Turkey, I guess Galen sponsored their trip over?), and bought some real gems for both my wife and myself, which was neat because they were unexpected finds! The only pen I got that was in my want list was an OPUS 88 Omar which my wife had been wanting me to get for a long time (and I don’t think Pos 88 is making anymore). I also got that same Life notebook (I already have one, and their A4 letter writing pad, but the price couldn’t be beat at the show). From Gina Salorino I finally purchased one of her Journaler nibs which she had designed for Esterbrook, and picked up two inks from J Herbin. I’m not personally into all the wasi tape, stamps, or stickers that seemed to be such a draw, and would have liked to see some actual letter paper and envelopes, but it is what it is. Everyone was so friendly and giving of their time at the show (completely opposite to most dealers at book, record, toy, and comics shows…having been the manager of a big comics store in Manhattan and owner of a second hand book store on Long Island, I know, lol!). My best experience was in meeting Ms. Lin, the founder and creative controller of TACCIA, wow we became fast friends, and I got SIX of her pens (no not Urushi!), and a bunch of her beautiful inks. Just a fabulous experience. Thanks again for sharing your own at the show!

I would have loved it if there were some vintage pen dealers there, too. I regret not buying two more of those Life Noble Notebooks. I LOVE that the paper is thicker than TRP, yet still very lightweight and fountain pen friendly. I agree with you that all of the vendors and staff were warm and friendly. I felt comfortable asking questions and swatching new inks. Thank you for sharing your experience with me! 😊

Great vlog! I saw someone posted that they had to wait over 2 hours to get in. Was that an issue with the size of the venue in your opinion or something else like getting your info/lanyard?
@PlanYourOneLife4 ай бұрын
I think that the size of the venue was a good size. The first couple of hours for the first day was very busy. The second day wasn't nearly as busy as the first day. I didn't go on the third day, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it was. But, from what I saw in Yoseka's IG page, it wasn't very busy at all. Keep in mind that not all of the vendors were there for all of the days of the event. There were more than enough freebies for everyone. They give you a blank card for your lanyard. You're supposed to write your name on it, not the staff. Abbey Sy was getting paid about $5 or $7 to write people's names on their cards for them. I didn't wear the lanyard, so it didn't matter to me.

I’m new to fountain pens and ink. What is the pen you use to swatch the ink ?
@PlanYourOneLife3 ай бұрын
It's a called a dip pen. It's mainly used to test and swatch inks. This one has a separate nib and nib holder. The nib is made by Kakimori and the nib holder is made by Rivercity Pens.
