Yes I agree Jagger was very courteous and respectful, he seems very intelligent and mature for his age, an old soul is the expression I think. I think musicians tend to impersonate immature wild things on stage, but off stage they're completely the opposite. I congratulate Cavett on maintaining his professional composure and cool in such an erratic environment 😊

You gotta love the irony of talking down on scalpers for charging $75 a ticket, when today (and pretty much for the last 30 years) $75 won’t even get you into the nosebleed seats at a Stones concert. Plus, this was back when they were in their prime.

Jagger was/is quite the performer on stage. Lots of rockers back then like Bowie and Stewart were great performers. I was lucky to see them back in the 70's at Cobo Arena and Fisher Theater in Detroit.

Cavett is so awkward, yet somehow good at this. At least a refreshing change from other entertainment interviewers. He presents as a public intellectual, and is always trying to give his subjects and chance to show how rock stars aren't as dumb as we assume. But it still seems forced and cringe-y, somehow.

As a kid I used to stay up summer evenings and watch Dick Cavett with mom and enjoyed his wit and his choice of guests. When I was 15 we hitched to Montauk to surf, there is no sleeping allowed on the beach and we woke on morning to see a fellow walking toward us from his home. We got up to leave and he asked us to stay and spoke with us for about fifteen minutes. Just a nice and pleasant guy.

For sure. Cavett was his unique & authentic self without overshadowing the talent he was interviewing; love Howard Stern, but when he interviews guests, he certainly has moments of overshadowing his guests because his personality is larger than life.
