I was one of Mr. Riley music students, he really took note of my talents and invited to join the HS band that I was a part of for 3 years, he kind compassionate and understanding. I played volleyball for four years and at times games and specific training sessions would conflict but he was so understanding. He believed in me and even taught me to play the trumpet (my original instrument was snare) so I can join the LA Honor Band for the Rose parade. Watching this video Killed me because I know he must have been pushed too far. I hope he enjoys retirement he really has earned it. I also hope that kid is embarrassed by all of this what a fucking tool.

@@DaisyMae1975LOVEIn many jurisdictions, a teacher would be fired for hitting a student when the student was not a physical threat and didn't have a weapon. I was a teacher for many years in inner city schools and I never had to engage in physical confrontations although I would try to move between combatants as that would give them the excuse to back down. We have a big unemployment problem and I think we should have security in all class rooms to instill discipline. They would be trained to act in ways that would not be physical. They could take the student(s) to separate time out locations and determine a proper course of action whether it be in school suspension up to expulsion and court proceedings. As a teacher, I was often faced with having to interrupt a lesson in order to handle discipline issues. The security would not just benefit the class' progress but also benefit from having a good job. As a consumer they would help stimulate the economy while being able to resolve their own economic issues. They could be drug tested and offered training and chances to become teachers themselves by having tuition paid for evening or summer classes to develop their skills and areas of expertise. At the same time, the teacher and class would benefit from not having so much time wasted off topic.

The teacher's answer to "Would you have done it differently?" is so refreshing! Honesty! We need more of this honesty. His answer is correct. He hoped it wouldn't have come to that, but it did because of all the actions that led to that. Like really, what do people, teens or otherwise, expect, if you assault someone physically, by throwing a basketball at them, you act aggressive and corner them and then come and do it again and push them in a corner, and don't back off when warned. We're all with the teacher on this one.

@@davidconrad7218 The characteristics you attribute to the "melanin enhanced community," are stereotypes and not actually typical. What you describe is actually more representative of poor people than it is any particular "color" of people. Poor people suffer from poorer family histories with more cases of dysfunctionality, crime, violence, lesser educational opportunity and attainment and more deficient training. The support for adequate health care and shelter is much inferior as well. If poor people had improvements in all these factors it is very likely that the other negative statistics would be improved regardless of widely different levels of melanin.

@@DaisyMae1975LOVE I retired a number of years ago and I agree that many students seem to have had as their goal trying to prevent the lessons from being too rigorous. This way they can pass without much effort. Some of the problem comes from putting students in classes where they are not able to function well or where they have not been motivated properly. I taught Spanish and ESL and in some schools a student could fail the first semester of the year and still be kept with the class for the second semester. This does not work because the failing students get farther and farther behind and then some of them don't care and can try to distract and/or disrupt. Teaching a class like that is like trying to run a dog sled where some of the dogs are not pulling but just dragging their paws. In other schools it worked better because a student who failed the first semester would have to repeat it or drop the subject. When a student is engaged and progressing he/she is seldom a big behavior problem. And when more students are cooperating it is contagious and the trouble makers lose their audience approval.

I stand with this teacher, he was definitely pushed far beyond his limits, many overlook the fact that teachers endure tons of disrespect from students because the parents of the students fail to teach them manners and they think that they can just disrespect and insult their teachers who try their absolute best to educate students and help them grow!

This is a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of my "Brothers/Sisters" in the melanin enhanced community have bestowed on our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. The involvement of their fathers in raising their children is exemplary. Their child-rearing practices and skills mixed with their unparalleled work ethic are second to none. Their rational and logical thought toward issues, coupled with their innate capability to peacefully work with others to de-escalate situations is to be envied and coveted. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of "African-Americans" in an area due to the caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement, hard work, and a self-reliant nature. Without their industrious and inventive drive, we would have .02% fewer patents. The facts that the black "Community" is 13% of US population yet responsible for 84% of murdered blacks and 24% of murdered whites is irrelevant. Blacks are the first to publicly state "ALL Lives Matter". That the majority of Blacks would prefer to live in a White community is indicative of their color blind perspective.

I’m 10000% behind the teacher on this, these students in the last 10 years or more have gotten extremely violent with these poor educators. I’ve seen some videos where they completely harass and threaten all the way to physical abuse these teachers. And because of our horrible education system coddling these kids they get away with it and push even harder. We need new leaders in education to really start making a change. We need old school standards with old school education back. Every teacher should be allowed to defend themselves with zero repercussions. The dumbing down of America has reached its peak

Anyone can snap, anyone can be pushed!! People are so FREE (shows true ignorance btw) to use racial slurs especially towards people of (dark brown) color nowadays and think they can get away with. It's a matter of time a racist will encounter the person who will teach them a lesson! The meaning of the word; is ignorance its used to degraded disrespect and make the person who uses the word feel ignorantly superior ..The teacher could have just called him one back but he gave him a better lesson! I have worked alone side educators myself and I have seen students physically fight Teachers just because they were seen skipping. Teens nowadays will "try" an adult. This teen stepped to this adult like he was one and could handle him and he was dealt the hand he reached for. He was told multiple times to leave yet this aggressor continued. If he is disrespectful to his elders who teach him I can only imagine how disrespectful and mild mannered he maybe with his parents who raised him!

Sure, the single mom or dad that probably has to work 60 hrs just to keep a roof over the kids' head. That ideology of bad parenting being the root cause of a child's behavior is flawed.
