I have always had a place in my heart for Meri. From the time she was a little girl she’s been told that her value as a human being was in her ability to produce children. Can you imagine then finding out that you can’t have them? All while constantly being compared to other women who can have many? Of course she’s unhappy and has mental health issues. I’m surprised she doesn’t have more of them! No one is perfect and I’m sure she’s had her harsh moments with the kids and other people around her but I can only imagine what kind of self-worth issues she has going on in her head.

I rewatched some of the older episodes of when Kody was seeing Robyn over the weekend. Back then Kody seemed to still be into Meri. He would touch her when they passed, he called her his lover, and was always telling her "I love you." Knowing what happened in the future and watching the old eps, it's so obvious that Robyn was the problem. She came along and they all started having relationship problems.

Its been heartbreaking to watch her hang on while he constantly mistreated her. He was stringing her along. When she moved into that huge house in Flagstaff and wouldn't give her the time of day, I wanted to scream. She sold her home in Vegas and gave the proceeds to them for Robyn's house and he couldn't be bothered to help her at all. He couldn't even fake it for the cameras anymore. It was so sad. I will never believe that it was her idea to divorce Kody so he could adopt the kids. That was forced on her. She was alienated from the family long before the catfishing happened. She was lonely and I don't blame her one bit. He didn't take care of their marriage. He replaced her and then played the poor cheated on husband. He makes me want to puke.

I guess you could say I’ve always had a small piece of my heart that always ached for Meri, I knew she was being used for her money and that really upset me to the point I wanted to kick Kody in the butt !! We all knew he was rotten to the core and then some!! It must of been horrible on Meri’s heart not being loved, lonely, and on top of the she wanted to have lots of babies and couldn’t!! My heart aches for her, and she didn’t ever have a caring partner to at least show her some compassion!! On so many occasions I have wanted to reach in and give her a huge hug. @kittyvaughn76 I also suffered from infertility like Meri. It plays a terrible toll on both. Kody decided to beat her when she was already down. Top that with an abusive childhood. I was abused by my mother and brother. If it wasn't for my dad and husband, I would never have made it through. I eventually was blessed with 2 boys through IVF and my third after 11 years naturally. Meri really had absolutely no support and was viewed as a failure by Kody.

I've NEVER seen Meri as the villain. She is the most loyal wife he had or has. No way Robyn would stay through what Meri did. NONE of them stated as long, with as much mistreatment. She was denied trying IVF while Kody spent how much money - HER MONEY - on all those other kids?! They wanted to screw her outta a nice house like theirs in Vegas. She was divorced, publicly humiliated and crapped on, punished by all of the wives and Kody for the catfishing, her B&B wasn't supported, she and Mariah were left outta the birth of Axel that Mariah had flown in for - the only wife left out. She continued to support the family despite every kick in the teeth. She's not perfect but NONE of them are. Kody will never understand the kind of loyalty Meri has because he's an utterly shallow human being. Then Christine ... who accused Meri of wanting to leave and not being loyal and just constantly slapping her with that accusation and guilt... leaves Kody... to all the fanfare. It's one of the most ridiculous things to ever play out on TV. Not all of the kids were well-behaved. They did pick on Robyn's kids at first and Meri defended them - as she should. If their own mother(s) were doing it, she wouldn't have had to. But truth is... we NOW KNOW... the other wives were having a tough time accepting Robyn - esp Christine. For good reason - it was obvious her entrance was going to implode that family. BUT... those were kids. Meri doesn't have to be popular with all of the kids. But when you see Logan and Hunter getting along with her... that's all I need to see. It tells me she was prol strict but I'm thinking some of them cudda used it. The worst parent by far is Kody. And if Meri was so bad, it was his job to step in. But hey... he's the guy who RECENTLY spoke of his "problematic" children. So seems to me, that's how he's always felt. So him blaming Meri is a JOKE. Kudos to Christine and all of that, but there's a whole lotta dysfunction there that can't all be blamed away on Meri. I saw some pretty mean stuff from her over the years too and that had to have rubbed off on her kids. This is why polygamy is sooooo damaging across the board.

It's Christine's kids that are publicly bashing parents. It's Christine's kids that are fighting amongst themselves and airing their grievances publicly. It's Christine's kids that are trying to earn a living off the back of the show and lifestyle that everyone said was so damaging to them. It's Christine's kids that seem to really ENJOY all of that attention and public spotlight. Just saying...... That's not to say they don't have the right to do as they choose... but this is how they behave with no cameras rolling. It just says a lot to me about the dysfunction around them, how they grew up/were raised, what they saw and heard, how they were impacted by it, and how they learned to deal with conflict. It would appear it's easy for them to cut off a sibling or a person they don't agree with. They seem to like going after certain ppl or even each other and will try to ruin someone on a public stage. To pick and choose what bad behavior they'll call out and what they'll overlook. Gee... I wonder who taught them that?? But that's prol all Meris fault too right? The woman who hasn't babysat or been invited to be around any of the kids in YEARS. Can we talk about the here and now and stop dredging up 20+ years ago? I think the last 10 is far more relevant and Meri has one child and they appear to be doing very well these days - who also doesn't get along with Kody. There's a common denominator here.... yet Meri gets all of the hate.

I was married to narcissistic jerk and I’m free of him now! He did his very best to destroy me and he nearly succeeded but I rose from the ashes and became stronger and a new and smarter person! I did some research on narcissism and discovered why he was who he was. I found out that there was nothing I could do and that made a huge weight off my shoulders and I’m much happier. My advice for Meri is to run far away from Kody and never look back!

I’ve been saying Meri has been abused since the catfish thing went down. I feel as tho Meri felt very alone and grasped to what made her feel good about herself at the time until the fear kicked in. He manipulated that entire situation. She wouldn’t have done what she did if he was doing his job as a husband. He didn’t nurture that relationship one bit. Everything was all about Robyn. I also think Robyn and Kody were feeding Meri manipulative info so she would come to them about the divorce so Kody could adopt Robyn’s kids. Especially after listening to your last video with the texts and court docs with the ex husband, it made it very clear that she was most likely telling Meri little untruths so she would offer the divorce so Kody could adopt them. Robyn wanted that “real” marriage. Robyn the entitled got what she wanted when she wanted it or she got angry and we have all seen that anger on numerous occasions.

Janelle and Christine are able to thrive in friendship now because they are no longer in competition for resources, neither financially nor emotionally. Kody was never able to adequately provide for his children and wives, but he still controlled everything. I can't imagine having 5 or 6 children to feed, clothe, and nurture in a situation where I have no independent ability to give them what they need. I also can't imagine living lonely while being married; a partner with no partner. Without those pressures they can thrive as mothers, as women, and as friends. I hope that Meri can also find her peace with the family as she finds her independence too.

There was a really sad scene on the episode when they moved to Flagstaff. Meri was holding hands with (Solomon? and her little dog). I can't remember what she was saying. But she seemed really sad and lonely. You shouldn't feel that way surrounded by a large family.

I've always liked Meri, and I am So Proud of her for finally seeing the light and that she has been used not only for her money but as a scape goat for Kody. Meri is very intelligent and hard working and it will be very interesting to see how Kody and Robyn do now that Meri's money is no longer there. Actually I get it Meri was abused as a child, gets married to a guy she loved, struggled with infertility, watched the other wives have kids and then is talk😊ed into divorcing him. Watches Robyn insert herself as the favorite and legal wife, is humiliated on national TV with the internet affair for years. Come on no wonder she was angry. I feel for her and I have hopes that she continues to grow and heal . I hope she can find someone who truly loves her. I think she deserves forgiveness and also a happy future.

Add to her Mom telling her not to leave, that she had to stay. I am sorry she had to deal with her Mom passing, that has to be hurting her on top of being unwanted by codfish. The one good thing from the loss, was gaining the B&B. That gives Meri a chance to be her own boss, try to make it a well known great place. There's a lot of speculation that somehow Robyn found out this family was going to have a show. Then she stalked Meri and Kody like she just happened to be wherever they were. Not a coincidence that she was there but intentional on her part to get noticed. I'm sure as soon as she thought she made a connection, she first had to charm Meri to get to Kody. We have pretty much figured out how she charmed Kody. He has such a big ego and he soon fell in lust not love. The rest is history. Oh, also, speculation that somehow Robyn knew or was involved in the catfish debacle. Robyn is the epitomy of evil. Her profile even looks like the evil witch in the original 1937 Snow White movie. In the beginning she was kinda pretty to look at. Little did we know what was lurking deep inside. As time goes by, the ugly is working itself to the surface for all to see.

Yeah Kody and Robyn did everyone they came into contact with! People they were supposed to have loved one time they screwed over in every way they could. They took people for everything they could. Now Robyn won't go on social media and Kody won't just crawl in a hole. Mary was wronged over and over again. The things Kody said and did to her were hurtful. Carrying that kind of heartbreak and indifference had to have a huge impact on Mary. It had to be hard to be around the kids from other wives. Mary wanted more children. She had problems with that. It's hard to see others getting all the blessings while you wither away trying to stay faithful to a narcissist. I'm glad she can move on and find her best life. She deserves it. All the wives deserve that except Robyn. Robyn is a destroyer and she needs to sleep in the crappy bed she made.

I think having more info about her helps make the behaviors more understandable and realizing what she lived through, then I think it makes me at the least more sympathetic towards her. You do give a more nuanced portrait of Meri and I like that. Nobody is totally black or white. As for narcissists: their upbringing has a lot to do with becoming one. I always got the impression that Meri thought that the more she suffered in this world, the better her afterlife would be.
