I can’t help but comment for every story of Mr. Hanopol. They’re all interesting. Firstly , I’m just so amazed how he wrote the Hagibis songs. Considering that he had a totally different genre. What a talented artist! Pero tawang-tawa ako about the creation of Hagibis. It’s so hilarious na inulit-ulit ko tuloy panoorin how they scouted sa mga kalye lang. Yung approach nila is parang nang”hahala” ng mga cute and macho dudes lol. Wish a documentary could be made about his life story but include all these anecdotes.

Mike deserves to be in the Hall of Fame Philippines if there is one. His contribution and passion to the OPM and Philippines Music industry is priceless. He's so humble that he just enjoy his passion not looking for fame and money! mike also played at an "imitation" barrio fiesta in fort lauderdale every thursday, he drove a bantam ford wagon (focus?) and would unload/load his guitar and equipment with visible difficulty. one time we arrived at the same time and i helped him unload, then he said, "masakit na likod ko pare, kaso kailangan kumayod, nagpapa-aral pa ako at gusto sa ateneo pa", this was in 1993 and yes, that hurricane came. best regards to you mr mike!

What a great interview. I was always wondering why Hagibis sounded like Mike Hanopol. Great to see him in relatively good health and great spirits. Some of the greatest songs were created in the shortest amount of time. Laki sa Layaw proves it once again. Amazing. I was today years old when I learned where 'jeproks' came from. I always thought it meant hippie. And Joey de Leon even contributed to Hagibis. Touching the lives of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Johnny Depp, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias; playing with Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson -- WOW! What a life this legend has lived. I really wish they make a proper documentary on Mike and the JDLC band.

I'm a fan of Mike Hanopol and I'm glad he's doing okay, doing interviews, making his fans aware that he still around. At 'yung interview ni Julius Babao was very interesting, so interesting that it makes me think to ask, like what Julius said, bakit siya mag-a-abroad e very productive siya during that time. May Hagibis, merong Juan Dela Cruz, may solo pa siya. Unless walang umaakyat na pero do'n sa mga activities na 'yon, which I doubt, walang reason para mag-abroad. Nuong sumagot si Mike lalong naging obvious yung disconnect. Sabi n'ya it dawned in his mind na uunahin n'ya 'yung pamilya n'ya. Wait, during that time na umaani siya ng tagumpay at kumikita, does he mean hindi n'ya priority ang pamilya n'ya? Gusto raw ni Mike intindihin, buhayin at palakihin 'yung pamilya niya, bigyan sila ng magandan kabuhayan, bahay. Sabat naman ni Julius, 'na hindi n'yo makukuha dito?' (which makes sense kasi successful siya dito e.) 'Yung sagot ni Mike naging eye opener tuloy kasi umamin siya na nakuha n'ya dito 'yung binuhay n'ya sa pamilya n'ya which was expected kasi very successful siya dito. So successful that he even admitted na mas malaki ang kinita n'ya dito kesa abroad. Why am I saying that? I think there is a different reason why Mike went abroad. Definitely it's not the money kasi hindi mo matutustusan ang pamilya mo na ang trabaho mo e bilang isang pahinante sa moving company lamang. O driver ka lang ng limousine. At inamin din n'ya na hindi malaki ang kinita niya sa abroad. Anyway, kung ano man 'yon si Mike na lang ang nakakaalam.

Kapitbahay ko dati itong si Mike Hanopol sa Project 2 (Bignay street). Kaya pala Jeproks (Projects) pala meaning nyan. FYI si Lourd de Veyra ay pampangkin ni Mike Hanopol, doon din cya nakatira sa Project 2. Si Lourd ang vocalist ng bandang Radioactive Sago Project noong late 90s bago cya naging announcer sa TV. Proud palang taga Project 2 itong magtito.
