Idiotic....the 'fire' is manipulated by the instructor. The fire 'fighters' do not extinguish the fire. The instructor throws a switch and the fire goes out.

The training used to be a live fire of 300 gallons of Jet-A fuel that could be seen for many miles but was curtailed due to environmental concerns and this is now a more environmentally friendly 'simulation'.
